I'm your host -- Bailey Sarian - Zábava
Thanks for this video. I was a cadaver dog handler in Iraq for three years. Have you considered doing a video of female spies in WWII. Virginia Hall had a wooden leg and still did crazy cool things. They were given speed to stay awake for missions and it messed up their health in later years.
Oh my, the things you must have experienced. Thank you for your sacrifice! Hope you are holding up well now! I think that's a GREAT TOPIC!! UPVOTE!
Thank you for your service ❤
Thank you for your service 🙏
Thank you for your service ❤
WWII women spies are amazing!! I went down my own rabbit hole with that. And Thank for serving.
Saving Private Rags needs to be made immediatly. I would cry the entire movie but I'm here for it.
This episode had me all up in my feelings.
YASS! Bailey need to find a director and start a gofundme. I'd be all over this.
I’m crying just reading the title 😭😭
Rags wasn't a pet, HE was a soldier. A brave soldier. But for different reasons.
And honestly a lot of the same reasons!!! Such a smart boy
❤❤❤ yesss!!
As a Pole🇵🇱, I would like to thank you very much for presenting the story about Wojtek the bear. I'm grateful and impressed that you present not only criminal mysteries but also stories from World War II, etc., and this time our Polish one. This story is incredible, as are many Polish heroes of World War II, for example: Witold Pilecki - he voluntarily allowed himself to be captured during a round-up in Warsaw's Żoliborz district. In this way, Pilecki planned to get to Auschwitz to carry out a special mission assigned to him by the Polish Underground State - to prepare a report on the situation in the concentration camp and organize a resistance movement there. 🇵🇱🙏🏻❤️
Sometimes we don’t deserve animals/pets , but they continue being our hero’s 🥲
I’m crying my eyes out because of these precious babies
Agree
The only babies who deserve our unconditional love
They are so loyal.
"the birds are chirping, flowers are blooming, and everything is on fire because the second world war is just raging" i love bailey
This is absolutely the magic that is Bailey that I keep showing up for. Love her turn of a phrase with an effortless extra helping of reality check. Love-LOVE Bailey!❤❤❤
I just put a purple poppy on my bag to remember the animals for Nov 11, and now this pops up! I love it. So nice to see our animal heroes are being recognised.
I've never seen a purple poppy! I would totally wear one. 💜
Bonjour Tatie Bailey merci pour la mise en ligne 😊
I genuinely just found the one I bought last year the other day and did the same... Bailey knows what's up 🫶
@@solene2014 🇫🇷 l❤VE The French 👍✌
@@jocelienjimenez9821 merci moi j'aime l'anglais et le français bien sûr 😊🦄🦄
My grandad was the owner of Anita, the first European dog to be awarded the Dicken medal for bravery in WW2. He was a true hero and truly man’s best friend. Flying in the Lancaster bomber planes as they dropped bombs on the Nazis. We will never forget the four pawed hero’s.
There's a memorial to the Polish people and the bear in Edinburgh. These stories are so important and shouldn't be forgotten!
Thank you for not forgetting the awesome parts that the Polish played in so many wars. We are known for being a gentle peaceful people and thank you for your research and hard work. You are amazing Bailey. I'm in my sixties but can I be you when I grow up? 👸👑🙌😘💖🤗
I just came to say that! I didn't know about the story until I saw the memorial and looked him up. 🐻
I would love to see a dark history of child care/child care items. Like the window cages and other “helpful” parent habits of the times.
Yay! Finally someone talking about our four-legged heroes.🐾🥰
Les héros à quatre pattes 😊
Tu es trop belle dans cette vidéo maman 😊😊
given that Poland had really been, ya know, *through some ish* by the end of the war, our beloved bear friend retired in Scotland where he could be cared for and visited by his Polish human friends. There's a statue of him in Edinburgh so if you ever see a big bear sculpture in the park along the city centre there, that's him.
my granpa was in the marines and worked with sergeant reckless, a pack horse who would help transport supplies and lived on the camp with them, he named his newest dog rex after the horse 😭
This is so cool! As the weird horse girl growing up Sgt. Reckless was my hero 😊
I hope you do a second episode about animal war heroes. One of my favorites is Sgt Reckless - she was a horse that carried artillery back and forth to front line in the Korean War, unassisted, despite having been injured in the line of duty. Twice.
I'm gonna look this one up!! Thanks for sharing!!
Yes. She was amazing ❤
Wondering why none of these animal heros don't have a movie about them already!? 🤷🏼♀️🤔😟
Wojtek has several childrens books written about him! And a statue in Edinburgh because of his retiring in Scotland 🐻
So many horses fought in war…
always breaks my heart ❤️
I was hoping Sergeant Bill was going to be a Canadian goose. Those cobra chickens are mean as they come, so I woulda absolutely believed Bill coulda been a bad boy/hero goose. Heck, if Bill was a goose, he probably would have made General before the war was out. But hats off nonetheless to a true Canadian hero, Sergeant Billy Goat! 🇨🇦
As a Canadian, I agree with this. Lol. 🇨🇦
That's it! I am never calling them "geese" again. From here on out, they are only referred to as "cobra chickens".
I grew up just outside of Broadview, Saskatchewan and Sargent Bill is in the Broadview Museum!!!
Why am I crying because they convinced an elephant to climb a mountain?
Cobra Chicken 😂😂
We appreciate Bailey's dedication and commitment. We wish her nothing but the absolute best.
100%
Moi non plus j'aime beaucoup maman Bailey je lui souhaite le meilleur car elle a un grand cœur ma maman ❤🦄🦄😊
Yess
Hello , a polish fellow here. I am so glad that you got to know alr tell people about the story of Wojtek bear, because it is almost not known at all and yet I remember the first time that my grandma told me about it. I was so fascinated she even got me a book ! It is honestly a beautiful and hilarious story and I am just happy that you shared it with us ❤️
I'm doing a Remembrance Day service here in England and just wrote a prayer about animals in war so thank you for doing this. Purple poppy for me this year!
Hero dogs has always been an interesting topic. Outside of the military, I love the story of Togo. He was the sled dog that delivered medicine to Nome Alaska. It’s especially amazing once you learn he was a senior dog at the time! I think he was around 12 or 13.
Laika, Soviet dog sent to space and the Warhorse Sgt. Reckless, employed in Vietnam are my personal favorites. We don't deserve animals, they make our lives worth living 🙏
I love that horse’s name
Sgt. Reckless was in the Korean War. She was a brave girl who carried ammo up to the front and wounded soldiers back down, she made 51 trips, most of them where by herself 🖤
My best friend is a veteran and the dog assigned to their unit saved his life. He dragged him after he got shot shot twice to safety. He (the dog) was awarded a medal of honor (I'm not quite sure what the term is) afterwards. True story! Animals are amazing
I'm not crying you're crying!!! This is my most favorite dark history ever!
I’m from Myanmar and I’m so glad to hear about the elephant 🐘 ❤
This bear is so smart n obviously has emotional intelligence as well to not rip them all apart during the wrestling practice. 😮 but super cool about these animals.
PETition for Saving Private Rags to become a thing ... the world needs more heros like this. ❤
Just when I thought Dark History couldn't get any better Bailey come up with this episode 🤗✨
💯 these are the heros that should be told..
Right?! 😃
exactly, when I saw the title of her new ep I clicked on it so fast I almost gave my mouse whiplash.
Bailey we need a pt 2!!! You forgot Sargent Reckless and Cher Ami 😢
There were also Mercy dogs. They would stay with injured/dying soldiers to comfort them. They would carry first aid supplies and lead medics to the injured soldiers after a large battle.
I knew immediately you were talking about vojtek in the intro 😂😂 as soon as you said drinking wine and smoking cigarettes 😂❤
Thank you Bailey for letting the world know about bandoola 🐘🖤
Your loyal fan from Myanmar 🇲🇲 🖤
Balto was also a real dog. He was one of the dogs that did the serum run in Alaska.
I’d watch a whole series where Bailey just tells me the cute stories about animals 🥲
Bailey PLEASEEE
I love this Episode! There were a lot more animals in War who were real heros. A pigeon named Amie ( I think, that was the name) is known as well and there were all those goats, mullis, donkeys, dogs, horses etc without whom transportation and other things would not have been able to do.
I live right near Monte Cassino and never heard Wojtek’s story. Thanks for teaching me something new. Going to pay his statue a visit and I’ll take a pic for you.
Bailey talking about hero animals is the greatest.
I'd love to eventually see a part two with a mention of Smokey the Yorkie ❤ I wouldn't have my service dog without her story
So When i was in Edinburgh this summer I thought this statue of a polish bear in the park was random, but after hearing this I realized it was Wojtek!
Please do a story on the Polish soldier called “white death”. It’s an absolutely incredible story. ❤
I thought the white death was a Finnish soldier?
@@marie-ange3965you are correct. He was finnish
I love and hate this episode love it for the content and miss Bailey herself and hate it because It hir me right in the feels, the rags story honestly made me cry and just hug my dog for hours, we really dont deserve our four legged angels and honestly I'd LOVE a pirates episode
Loved this episode @baileysarian! You have to look up Sgt Stubby, he is a Pitty hero and has his own movie!
Bailey!! They have a cemetery for the war dogs in Michigan, I was reading about it today. It’s like you knew. Not waiting till the end to see if you talk about it because I don’t want to forget. 😂
To whoever is reading this keep going, you're doing fine! No matter how slow your progress, each new week is filled with tiny steps forward. Be proud of yourself you got this! ❤
Thank you !
As I sit here in my mom guilt. Thank youuuuuuu. ❤❤
You've no idea how badly I needed to read this! Thank you for your kind words, stranger!
🙏🏾
Really needed this more than one might imagine. Thanks mystery friend!
I am running low of podcasts from you, I listen on my way home from work every night. Added on all socials cause I love your content. Sent you an idea for a show on tiktok 😅 hope you get it! I'd love to hear more about the story. You and your team are the best ! You rock ! Don't ever change 😊 xoxo
Check out Sgt Reckless from the Korean War! One of my favorite Marine Corps stories.
I loved this one Bailey. I love animals also. Great idea right before Veterans Day. These animals should get Purple Hearts.
I love that how you say Bears name Wojtek, like VOYTECH 😂 Love you!❤
We named our dog Voyek (used English pronunciation version for spelling) after this bear!!!! Love seeing this tribute Bailey!!!!
Hey bailey, a lovely episode like always❤ i hope you will make a video about history of Palestine and Nakba and the genocide which is happening in Gaza🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸
Yes! This girl sure does homework, hope she exposes all the lies to her followers soon.
THIS 🇵🇸🇵🇸
Bailey, I love how much you love dogs and you were adorable when you told Rags’ story; dogs are the best but you’re a close second 😉
Hey Bailey! Loved this episode, just remembered something from WWII. A brave pit bull mix who is also the most decorated war dog in history, Sgt. Stubby, he helped his fellow soldiers with war and also learned how to salute! He was adorable and there was a movie made about him.
How did you not cry doing this video? ❤ I would be crying thinking about all these animals getting hurt during the war. But I could just be too sensitive. ❤
No, I just about cried too. If I was researching it, I think I would have. People made the war, not the animals, but they decide to help humans anyway. Animals are just amazing!
Empathy is a spiritual gift, that's all. 🥹
Humans will never deserve dogs ❤ they're so much better than us. Thank You Bailey for giving them some well deserved credit ❤❤❤, listening while cuddling my 2 puppers, about to go to work soon.
Loved this episode, it’s definitely a topic I feel isn’t usually brought up. I loved learning about all of them… the bear one is crazy to me in that he was treated like a juman then put in a zoo.
My favorite is SGT Reckless, a horse that was so brave to carry ammo & stuff through many battles! At Fort Irwin, NTC California I was able to watch a horse make rank & they had a big ceremony for him! He was a beautiful black Stallion & he was in the Black Horse Company & went from PFC to SGT. it was a cool ceremony! I worked there from ‘96 to 2001.
As a Pole, this episode makes me really happy 😊
I remember corporal wojtek (the bear) from horrible histories.. I also learned that the Army used bats during the war, they were going to release them onto the Japanese. YES, 🦇s! They were strapping with explosives on them but the bats got out before they were loaded up & exploded the base they were being held at! 😬 Sadly, the Soviets also used dogs strapped with explosives but they stopped that because the dogs were trained to go under tanks, but they used Soviet tanks instead of Russian tanks during training so that's where the dogs went! The Germans thought they could communicate telepathically & also thought they could use them as spies! 😂🐶😂 Supposedly, they even had a dachshund that could speak. Elephants in war!?? They should know they're scared of pigs on fire.. Yes, that happened in war time too! 😭 It's hard to watch movies when the animals die😭😱😰
Dude this episode made me cry. What brave little souls 🐾
You need to do an episode on The White Star Line (the company that owned the Titanic). What happened after the Titanic disaster is so unethical. What they put the survivors through is definitely Dark History material.
I love the pajama set !! 🫶🏼
I'm here crying over Rags, the best boy ever.
Bailey can you do an episode on the Cristero war in Mexico !!
I don’t think many know of this war. My grandma lived through this!! It’s insane
We cant forget about the importance of horses in history. If Im not mistaken I believe there is at least one American president or general who was buried with his horse. I feel kind of bad for his wife.
Every day gets immediately better when Bailey uploads 🤧 love learning about this stuff
THANK YOU BAILEY for this awesome heart warming vid 💚❤️
My younger sister (she died 3yrs ago) had a stuffed puppy dog named Rags from when she was 5yo, I inherited him & cried for days just holding him
Wojtek the Bear!! my art tutor directed the animation team on a short film that came out on him.
I love this story. I had "a day" and this warmed my heart.
I hope you’re having a better day today
You are so sarcastic sometimes 😂😂😂 thank you for your sarcasm and dedication to producing thoughtful and intellectual content for us❤
I've never teared up on one of ur episodes til now.😊
Your videos are so informative that I have to have them on whilst cleaning and I’ve got to say my ocd hasn’t been this happy in years THANK YOU! The way you tell these stories really helps calm my mind and get stuff done 🥰
This is my favorite Dark History episode so far!!! Thank you, Bailey & crew!
My Dad had a dog in Vietnam during the Vietnam War named Roscoe that used to walk out on to the hood of the fuel truck to sleep while he drove.
Being an animal lover as well... Favorite episode so far!!!
Soo cool that Wojtek was at the Battle of Monte Cassino!! My husband and I bought a painting that someone did in 1989 depicting the battle at The Polish Museum of America in Chicago. My maternal grandmother’s family is Polish so all things Polish history excite me. 🥰
I think this might be my favorite episode of dark history so far, and I'm totally not crying about animals right now.
Side note I want to try the white peach liquid ivy now thanks Bailey 😂❤ thank you for the content
Starbucks coffee tastes burnt... i had no idea that so many different animals were used during wartimes. Thank you for the knowledge Bailey 😊
Starbucks coffee tastes like genocide… boycott 🍉
Just spent the entire episode crying my eyes out. We don't deserve animals.
This was a great episode. Laughter through tears is my favorite emotion. LOL! Thank you for all you do. You are a bright spot in my otherwise boring life.
Bailey do a episode on cold medicine in the honor of flu season .. I’m sick
this episode made me cry multiple time. i'm going to get a tattoo of wojtek holding the artillery that's soooo cute
I think it's so cool, that you uploaded it right before 11.11. In Poladn it's Independency Day. So mentioning Wojtek is double amazing. Thanks ❤
@baileysarian I cried this morning! This video really hit me in my feelings. Had to listen to it bit by bit.
This was my favorite episode so far. So many unsung stories of brave animals who saved humans and other animals. thanks so much for bringing a few of their stories into the light. (see what I did there?)
This was such a wholesome episode 😊😊 thank you Bailey!!
my favorite war hero animal is Staff Sergeant Reckless, a decorated war horse who fought with the United States!
Yassss perfect timing for my bath!! 😍🩷 Looks like I’m relaxing for the next hour!! Lol
Bailey, will you please do a Dark History on Thanksgiving. It’s a perfect example of history that is not talked about in school! Thanks for your great content, it gets me through the day! 💚😊
Greatest accidental band name of all time, “Flaming Pigs” thanks Bailey
Don’t forget Reckless! She was a Korean War hero who happened to be a horse.
I know a dog that 'salutes, it's not like a proper straight angle salute, he sits on his hind legs and kind of touches his paw to his snout area until his owner says 'at ease'
If they dip their head a little, most dog can touch above their eyes. Dogs often mimic some behaviors of their owners. The soldier probably saluted A LOT.
Kudos to the person who picked the background music in this episode. I was about to cry when you talked about Rags becoming a runner and helping soldiers.
This is a great episode! I really love the switch to some badass uplifting stories. I bet this was fun to research. Thank you Bailey!
To be fair, I did leave this comment before the elephant section 😬
Okay, but my eyes were full on leaking minutes into this history lesson!!
Thank you Bailey, for another brilliant class! You're my favourite history teacher, ever.
Ok well, I was not prepared by the amount of crying that I would be doing! These are all so amazing 😭😭😭
“Feed the bear like.. a human baby…”
Me: whoa.. that really is *so* dark…
“….evaporated milk…”
M: oh right.
Not me on the verge of tears when you said Rags was just waiting on the docks 😭😭 we don’t deserve them fr
They can definitely make some great movies about these heroic animals ❤
