  • Hey Guys,
    Starting to change the channel a bit. I love flying long range FPV drones in different places. ATV Quads go hand and hand with FPV Quadcopter flying in desert like areas. How many times have we thought that having a ATV Quad to retrieve a lost Quadcopter in hard to travel areas would be awesome? Well, I decided to purchase an inexpensive compact ATV that would fit in my SUV. Ran across the Tao Tao Cheetah XR 125cc made for youths, but I've seen a lot of adults weighing over 200ibs riding these things.
    To my surprise it's pretty fast and can pull my fat butt around and up most mountain conditions that will help to retrieve a drone, or simply drive for miles where my cars can't and launch the drone from the ATV Quad.
    So far the Tao Tao Cheetah XR 125cc fits my needs, and can go relatively fast up steep inclines and through moguls with an adult on it. I do think the chain is a weak point and will replace that ASAP.
    I met some really cool Motocross and UTV riders today. Feeling very Blessed!
    I will do a full review on my Tao Tao Cheetah XR 125cc after the break in period.

    Decent little wheeler. Bought one for my 10yr old son.
    Rattles like a paint mixer though and I’m not sure why.

    That's a Sweet little ATV Scott! You have such amazing trails. I wish I was closer so I could join you with my Raptor 660R, I rarely ride it anymore, too many hickers in the woods give me dirty looks.

      You have a Raptor 660r . Those are awesome! Super fast Too. It’s tough if you have a lot of hikers. You would dig it here where I live. So many ATV trails

      @@scottgivens27It's a sweet ride and the sound is amazing with the yoshi exhaust I have on it, I miss riding it fast. California has a surprisingly large amount of sparsely populated areas, compared to where I live. Most of the public trails and parks are currently closed. The whole nature reserve on top of the mountain is off limits because of covid, so hickers found the privately owned maple grove behind my house and trespass by the dozens.
      No one asked if it was ok and my neighboors tolerate it, but it's getting a little out of control, with people from out of town spending a whole day there. I followed so of of the steps in the snow and some even go up to the closed off area.
      I don't even fly at my old spot with the white benches anymore, it's too risky without a spotter now. Those woods used to be my neighboorhood's little secret, but those days are over. My whole plan to do a 4 seasons edit are kinda ruined, every time the sun is out and the light is good, the place is filled with people, kids, unleashed dogs.
      That's why I switched to the orchard, I have the owner's permission and it's fenced off. I just have to be careful because I fly from the other side of the fence and it's a long hike to the gate, lol.

    What’s the top speed on these?

    • @scottgivens27
      @scottgivens27  Před 3 lety

      Sorry for the late reply. The most I've done according to GPS is 37mph. I have consistently done 32mph, so I'm assuming that is more realistic. But honestly, you should consider not going too hard on these tiny quads as I have. It will kill the longevity. It does well around 19mph on trails which feels pretty quick. I did recently purchase a Yamaha Blaster for learning real manually riding. Now that thing can be pushed and I have already gone 50mph+ along with conquering all of the hills in my area.
      My recommendation is sticking with well known manufactures like yamaha, honda, kawasaki, suzuki. You can get killer deals on facebook or offer up for just a bit more than what I paid. I dig my tao tao for recon and light riding, but the yamaha blaster, is crazy! and I can actually make it fit in the back of my Ford Explorer with the handlebars down, and deflated tires.

    • @scottgivens27
      @scottgivens27  Před 3 lety

      @@edsilco2113 The ATV quad is not fast at all. I've maxed it out at 37mph. But it really only goes about 18mph around trails. The purpose is only for it to drive me out to remote areas to fly the FPV quad and retrieve it if there is an issue.
      I do also have a Yamaha Blaster that I picked up recently. That ATV Quad goes around 60mph with my jetted carb and FMF Fatty pipes

    Great vid! How tall are you? did you feel umcomfy on the ATV?

    • @scottgivens27
      @scottgivens27  Před 2 lety

      Sorry for the late reply Ali. Work has been challenging lately. I’m short at only 5’3” if you are any taller, I recommend going with something like a Tao Tao Bull 200. But since this video, inflation has increased the prices of these things where is almost not reasonable anymore.
      If it’s for yourself, I recommend buying a used Yamaha Blaster or Warrior 350. They are built like tanks and you will quickly outgrow a lower powered knock off
      The deception of most of the knockoffs is that they say 150, 200, or 250, but it’s not the actual CC, it’s just the name. Typically if they say 200, is only around 175cc. This one still runs great as my nephew now uses it regularly, but I’m riding the Yamaha blaster as my daily and it’s twice as fast, and 3+ times more horsepower, while being compact. My Tao Tao was fun, but as stated earlier, you will outgrow it fast and yes, the Tao Tao was comfy with all of my mods🙂
