I absolutely love the show Hazel! So incredibly funny and great family values. Whitney Blake is an absolutely stunningly beautiful lady but sadly I see no resemblance to Meredith Baxter at all. Even though Meredith Baxter is beautiful too but in a different way.

I think this is an example where the script has nothing to do with the presentation of the actual character as portrayed by this particular actress. The writer is just filling up space or making the doctor say something, or anything authoritative to sound doctor-like.
I LOVED FAMILY. My mom let me watch this show with her. Gosh, I was a 5-9 year old watching this show when it aired. Then Dynasty replaced Family, I was 10 and in heaven.

Willie is my favorite of the four Lawrence children. Buddy's a close second. Nancy ... well, let's just say Buddy described her self-absorbed dramas to a T at the end of this episode. Willie is a true-blue friend when the chips are down, compassionate, sincere, and insightful, even if things go awry in his own life often enough.

It's a beautiful piece. Also featured in "Another Woman." Probably Woody Allen's best movie.

This make a second pregnancy for Nancy that doesn't amount to anything. In the pilot Nancy (then played by Elayne Heilveil) announces she's pregnant, then no baby. Here Nancy is pregnant again...no baby.

We are a married couple with a grown daughter and son and teenage daughter and grandson and we buy our milk in quarts?
There was an episode (can't remember which) where the milk was delivered to their home. Ah, the good old days! I remember, as a kid, getting our milk in glass bottles which we would then return to the dairy store.
I was born in 1969 and honestly, in the 70s, I only recall quarts in our fridge and we were a family of 5. So maybe that's all they made back then - ?

I was allergic to dairy until I was a toddler and apparently finding a 'milk man' who delivered, which was the norm, but who also offered soy milk was nearly impossible - and expensive!!

@@shelley6477 so, i'm kinda in between shelley and xanthas71: i was born in 1961 and we lived in a small desert town in california. we definitely had a milk man - but no glass bottles anymore - who not only delivered to our house, but let us kids ride on his milk truck as he made the stops around the neighborhood. i, too, was allergic to dairy as a child, and the youngest in the family. so i loved being able to ride on top of the ice cream freezer on the truck and then pick out a frozen rainbow sherbet push-up for 'helping the milk man with his duties'. great memories. :D

I've only seen three episodes of this series, and already I hate Nancy. She's worse than Gloria on All in the Family. And as for Jeff, he's a lot like Meathead, only not nearly as liberal. I also want to say that Willie and Buddy are the best kinds of friends anybody could want, because they don't give up on the people pushing them away. Which episodes don't focus on Nancy, so I can give this series a better chance? I haven't hated a character named Nancy this much since Little House on the Prairie.
... Believe it or not, there are a few episodes where Nancy actually demonstrates redeeming qualities. The fact that she is loathed means Baxter acted the part very closely to the way it's written, but without great range.
Yeah, and again, Willie and Buddy are saints for tolerating her.
Perhaps...It's a good thing that they're only fictional characters, and we're both able to keep them in perspective.

T Price Jeff actually grew on me as the seasons progressed. Nancy never changed. She was oblivious to everyone around her.

Baxter never progressed with the character & never quite came off convincingly as thoroughly selfish in later years...conflicted yes, but not outright mean, which lent her Nancy portrayal not altogether dislikeable. She played her frustration with Jeff very convincingly. I suspect that Baxter vented some of her own marital strife during those more vexing scenes with Jeff.
