    This is my product review of the Vanquest Trident-31 backpack. It is the big brother to the popular Trident-20, but features design upgrades, a new side water bottle pocket and has 11 liters of additional storage space.

    I didn't even hesitate when I found out about this one. I've had it for a couple months and no regrets! I can now comfortably fit everything I need as an EDC/ school/ GHB. It's very sturdy yet flexible in its properties as a backpack. You hit all the points that I think we all love for the most part. Even the medical part of it as I work as an EMT. :) it's just an amazing piece of equipment. Really pricey but I got it on sale and it was a gift to myself so... yeah. Love this thing.

    Great review as always. I was upset at first only because I bought the 20 then two months later this came out. The 20 is a little small. Soon as I save up for this one they will probably put out another better one haahaa. Been watching you for a month now & Im running through all your videos daily. Pdf files while watching make it soooo much more helpful. You're one of the top reviewers and you need more subscribers. No reason not to be over 500k right now

    great review. feel the molle on the back of the bag makes it stand out? i have a 5.11 bag for my edc I'm gonna replace soon b/c it stands out so much with all the molle.

    • @TheUrbanPrepper
      @TheUrbanPrepper  Před 7 lety

  • @brian4984
    @brian4984 Před 7 lety

    Good review. I enjoyed my Vanquest Trident 20 (black) for about a year and a half. It's really a good bag. I eventually stopped using the internal organizers and became a bit bored by the abundant PALS webbing. The size led me to switch, and in place I chose a Goruck GR1 (26L, black) with GR1 and Echo field pockets for improved organization. I finally had left over space! Then quite suddently I decided to reduce my daily EDC bag loadout as I'm never far from home, my vehicle, or third story office. I reduced my GR1 internal contents and finally realized I was carrying a mamoth bag. I bought a Goruck Bullet (10L, black) to become my EDC bag, and I'm LOVING the small, light, nimble approach to EDC. I bid farewell to my Vanquest bag and now it's on Ebay looking for a good home. I debated for weeks about whether to keep it because it's much like an old friend. I think the Trident 31 layout is geat, and I think the size is great, but it wasn't for me. Primarily, I wanted something simpler.

      I agree. They worked their way up to this point. I personally like seeing how the product line has evolved. Often times, it takes trial and error until you can really get a product to this level of refinement. I love that Vanquest is always trying to raise their own bar.

    Good vid Cliff. It's nice to see that Vanquest is moving away from paracord zipper pulls..finally! One thing I'd like to see, is less internal Velcro, & more zippers. I hate the sound of Velcro pulling.

    Looks like a backpack with which you can walk into the apocalypse organized and in style ... price a bit steep though, the first couple of times a zombie drools on them you are going to be so aggravated just due to that. Not to mention the way it would look and smell if you use it to behead one... not to sure if that would be to the point you might decide not to, which could obviously be rather dangerous... still though, tnx for sharing it in depth.

    Thanks for another great video. Vanquest makes awesome gear. The one ting I miss that they took off was the bottom grab handle as one the first gen trident packs. It makes for me to grab it and swing it around to the front. Granted, it's not necessary but I like it.

  • @BionicMadness
    @BionicMadness Před 7 lety

    As always, such a great review! Do you think that having too many pockets would reduce the weight? I like your organization but at some point is it too much micro-managing? $200 is definitely outside of my price range for that type of bag. We all know the quality is really high but are there any other comparable bags that are not as expensive that you would suggest? I can do the research myself too but just wondering if you'd given any thought to other "like" models.

Have the 5.11 Rush 24 for a Day Pack and think it was just over one hundred USD (U$D) and about three pounds... The store had it in only non-tactical Black ! A FDE or Sandstone color and would not need a flashlight to see inside the pack ! A Day Pack with "The Ten Essentials" by the Seattle Mountaineers (B.I.=Before Internet) will keep you safe overnight and bring you home the next day. Have a Two-Wheeled Carry on bag for the airlines...Easier than to carry. Thank you for the video ! tjl P.S. One little old lady I talked to went to the airport W/O luggage... @TheUrbanPrepper  Před 7 lety

      Ugh! That's a really tough one. They're both awesome. I suppose it depends how you plan to use it. Do you like to use rectangular modules for gear organization? If so, go with the Trident-31. Do you use more of a free for all approach but with the Velcro Tactigami? The Gamut EDC would work great for that. Plus, it has two water bottle holders. Again, you probably can't go wrong with either.

    I'm grinding my teeth as torture myself whether to send my Trident 20 back in favor of the new bag. I feel the 20 confined me to make better decisions, I've got an Oakley Kitchen Sink but stopped carrying because it was too heavy and had too much stuff. Decisions, decisions, decisions.....

      LOL! If you're able to, I would upgrade to the 31. It will give you more options in the long run and is just a better design, IMO.

    Hey UP, what would you say is the best one shoulder style backpack currently out and why?

    • @TheUrbanPrepper
      @TheUrbanPrepper  Před 7 lety

      Hmmm.... I'd have to think about that. I usually don't like those type of bags. I either go double strap backpacks or messenger bags. Single strap slings always feel weird to me. I remember really liking the Vertx version though.

    I've been looking for something very much like that for work so that I can attached water bottle holders on the sides, I wouldn't need to spring for the holders for this one.

    Great review, thank you! I really laughed out loud when you said this backpack is OCD heaven :-) But unfortunately it seems to be missing some pen loops and a pocket for the wallet and other valuables which is only accessible from the back.
