    FDNY responses of this magnitude really show off the department's unlimited pool of resources. I am always astounded by the huge amount of diverse and highly skilled units the fire department can dispatch in such a short amount of time. Truly a major feat in logistical operations, and a one of the reasons that makes the FDNY one of the greatest fire departments in the world.

      Even small volunteer fire departments can be quite impressive, in terms of the scope of situations that they may handle: fires, rescues, automobile accidents, medical emergencies, hazardous conditions, floods, etc.

      @@puirYorick You can see one of the firefighters talking/looking at someone (presumably PD) after they go under the tape. • @puirYorick
      @puirYorick Před 4 lety +4

      @@samhorne2550 I have since watched another video where one of the FFs calls out to him (or whoever was filming that one) apparently using a certain term which escapes me now but, someone replied to that comment to explain it was a common FF nickname for the fanboys who follow them around to fires.
      It made sense at the time but now I have to try and piece it back together in my memory as say, "Cindy" for cinders / Cinderella? Some character type name that related to fire.
      Let me be clear. It's not *my* explanation, just a (possibly mangled) recall of someone else's that made perfect sense when I read it then I moved on. The point was that the FFs knew that there was this kind of camp follower type into recording fire scenes so regularly that they came up with that nickname term to describe them.
      It was either Cindy for cinders or Barbie for barbecue... Anyway, it's apparently a "thing" and the FFs "know" these guys as groupies for lack of another word. All this according to that other YT post I remind you. So don't ask me to explain or defend it. I left the crumb trail at that point.

      @@FDNYResponseVideos yes, I've realised that, but all the videos of responders I've seen before, responders eventually get either to a fire, car accident, "crash scene" or some other emergency. Hi J.A. when I was in the fire service (London Fire Brigade) in the UK, if you were the appliance that was the base pump at the incident pumping water keeping the lines charged but they were not actually using them, then the water heats up very quickly to the point it can scald you, then you open one of the deliveries and let the water trickle out to keep the tank and pump cool. I'm assuming this pump was keeping the emergency wet riser system fully charged.

      It’s a staging area probably. They are waiting for assignments. That last thing you want to do on a major emergency is sending units that A: aren’t needed or B: don’t know what they are doing. By waiting in the staging area, they can see how the situation progresses and send units accordingly. Not to mention, in the video desc, it says the first reports of a plane crashing into a building. We all remember what happened on 9/11, so they might have done this just to be sure it wasn’t anything bad.
