Decided to bike 30 minutes to this 4004 about 5 miles from my house. I expected to see the old 3016 here, but apparently they replaced it not too long ago. This sounds just like the other 4004 I filmed a year ago as it uses the same controller. The 3016 had the digital ESC-864. My original plan was to go to Mount Prospect or North Chicago but my plans changed quickly, so I settled on this. It was very loud, and sure did shake the ground. It is probably the loudest Whelen I've heard yet! Also stay tuned for the BTS movie, it is on it's way!

Schönes Video und schöner Sound! Nice Video and nice Sound! In Germany we have nice sirens too, the E57 or the Hormann f71.

I live there. I hear it almost every first tuesday of each month until winter, then they don't do the testing. But we had a tornado warning issued this march and usually it tells you that it's not a test and to take cover when it is near. Quite eerie and haunting. I actually enjoy sleeping through the test, because of the echo. It's kind of chill, idk. I've lived there since 2001, So I remember the old tests and the new ones, they changed it a bit 5 years ago, and now it kind of sucks, their test schedule seems to be messed up now.

They test in the winter as I always hear them from my school on the first Tuesday at 10 AM. One of their sirens is very close too. I didn’t hear them during the March tornado warning tho. But yeah, VH had a really cool system back in the day!

Interesting. This did attack, but most of IL just does alert. Nice vid!

Thanks! Yes it does fast wail (attack as Whelen calls it. It really is fast wail as it is faster than regular attack) as the surrounding systems test in alert. Tinley Park also tests in attack but also tests in alert for example but yea. Most of IL does test in alert

@@SirensAndAlarmsOfNorthernIL Yeah, I'll agree that Whelen's labeling of signals (mainly the attack signals) is weird. Wail sounds more like attack to me.
