If they kept the oaths to gods in their personal life, then absolutely. As long as your religious beliefs aren't causing harm to the people around you, then for sure; go for it. It's when this pageantry gets arbitrarily written into legal proceedings that I find obnoxious. Mixing laws and religion never works out. The Salem Witch Trials are a great example of why church and state really should be kept separate.

Haunting stuff. If anyone's passing through either of those places and is a history nerd, consider a stop

Lol! This is one of my favorite bits. Funnily enough, the raising of the hand was a two fold thing. Of course, it's a public acknowledgement of honesty. But, also another reason was when branding was in use. When convicted of a crime (thievery, adultery, piracy, etc.), you would be branded on your arm. In essence, it was your criminal record. Raising your hand would show any priors you have.

Im not very religious either. Yet I claim to be roman catholic simply because I was baptised that way as a child. I dont attend church anymore, I dont believe in all the bible stories as factual events, I may take lessons from them at face value but I dont believe they existed. I still celebrate christian hoidays like christmas and easter. Heck I would attend my friends greek wedding just because it doesnt go traditionally as a catholic wedding would doesnt mean I wouldnt support my friend. I dont care if others choose to celebrate what they believe. In fact I find it fun to learn about others cultures sometimes. I loved learning about greek mythology as a kid. I love learning about what they eat, different types of music and entertainment. Ya know the fun and creative stuff.
Its when people start having their believes affect me and my life that I have an issue with it. Some people cannot keep their own beliefs to themselves. They need to learn to keep some topics to themselves. Like some people go nuts if you misgender them from behind or maybe to their face. Yet they will also bring up their gender like almost all the time. I dont mind you having a thought about your own gender. You can refer to yourself as you like. Im not going to follow through with it though. If I can clearly see your not the gender you say you are im going to refer to you as I know what you are in my beliefs. You can choose to ignore it and move along or you can make a big fuss. I wouldnt choose the latter. It just makes things worse for us both.
If say someone has a weird dream or weird thing happen to them so they wanna talk about it with me as an acquentence im fine with that. Im not against talking about things with people ive met before. Even if its a stranger it may be a bit awkward at 1st but as long as they are kind about it I dont mind. Thats one way how we can get to know each other. Its when they get disrespectful about it or things get so heated it becomes illogical that I would likely walk away or tell them to bugger off. If you start saying things like slavery affected my life today so I cannot have anything good when im discussing how I got to join my family on vacation somewhere fun or something it can be a bit much. Same to those who think theres no limit to the possible genders you can be. It just becomes so illogical that it gives me a headache just trying to grasp what these people are thinking. When it comes to those people I got something to tell ya: Suck it up buttercup!! Slavery ended in the late 1800s. I didnt profit off it neither did my family. You arent and never were a slave like your ancestors mightve been get over it. I will give back the same level of respect I receive from others. By defualt I give someone respect until I feel the need not to be so kind. No matter their race. Gender identities are based on your sexual identities. They are related. A man is a biological male. A woman is a biological female. Im not gonna make things more complicated for myself on your behalf.
I agree the government does not really care about peoples rights. It cares about gaining and maintaining their support. If that means keeping people happy with certain rights so be it. You can kind of see how things progressed and how people were influenced if you look at all the forms of entertainment over the years. There were times topics were put into a joke or some form of content right in front of peoples faces and they didnt realise it. Its just things have been taken to the extreme. If you wanted to make me believe some outragous claim than your going to have to give evidence and prove it over time. Like you dont just let someone go for a crime because they claim they were innocent. You have them tried in court and if found guilty than they can keep the charges. If found innocent than they can drop the charges. Same with illegal parking tickets. You can contact whoever you need to about getting the ticket charges dropped. If it was rightfully your fault then the ticket stays. If say someone switched the street speed sign with a faster one from another street than you might get the charges refunded after they investigate and see its true. Dont just assume things. Thats how the media keeps curropting people woth bias. You know what other word is made from the 1st 3 letters of the word "assume" dont you?
