Being nice to that fawn is the sweetest thing.
Great time watching this show as a child in the 70s.
It was great to see Captain and Donahue together.
Loved the ping pong balls usually compliments of Mr. Moose and Bunny Rabbit! 😁
Okay I legit cried during the deer segment.
I was born in 1957, and me and my two brothers, watched this show every morning. I have a much older brother, who also watched this show also when he was younger. Nice and calm, that's the way kids should start their mornings, his voice was so calming to me as a child. Thank You so much, for the memories.
You're welcome. I was also born in 1957 and remember the B&W shows on CBS. Capt. Kangaroo was my favorite. In 1989 I began working for our local PBS station and would put Capt. Kangaroo on the air at 7:30 AM every morning. When they replaced him with Barney I located all the shows we had on tape and made VHS copies to keep and then later share with my boys. He was very calming indeed - on par with Mr. Rogers.
I was born in 1967 and I remember watching this show, from Baltimore, in the 1970's.It came on 8:00 in the morning.
I was born in 72 which is about right , the rest of you were getting a little long in the tooth in 78.
@@larryware1 im curious how you know the date so exact...

It's always possible to share good with the world. It's a practice and what makes life worth living!

❤ this show as a kid
LOVE CAPTAIN KANGAROO FOREVER!! ♡♡♡
Never thought an essay by Dinty W. Moore led me to this video.
I must admit that this was three years after High School for me and I was not keeping up with the Captain by that time. Still the same easy banter but more flashy than the 60's when I was a wee bit younger ;-)
Thanks for the Memories ! I used to watch him before School !!
Used to love this show I miss being a kid
MINNS
So do I
my mom told me she did a cartwheel on the show sometime late 70's..I wish I could see her.

I don’t remember thee ever not being a Picture Pages segment in any episode….and I remember watching Captain Kangaroo reruns on PBS at least till I turned 7 or 8 ☺️

Still classy for a kids show.
This is the show that made Phil famous.
Missed hearing the ORIGINAL Captain Kangaroo Theme Song with the keys being shaken!!!
I think they couldn't use it due to copyright issues. I have a recording of the original open... Loved it.
Awesome video...so many memories...thank you!!!
The PBS edit is from the mid-80s.
Phil Donahue was on Captain Kangaroo? lol XD
Captain Kangaroo wore a wig, that was really Phil Donahue’s hair. No joke.
In. all actuality, I kid you not,Right at this time, Men (at least dn south), started wearing the green jacket, everywhere dress clothes were worn! I thought it was Golf-related, it was the Captain all along!
Mr Bainter the Painter 🔥❤️
Who wants to go in the kitchen all alone and get us some drinks?
Bill Cosby---"I will, be right back..."

Do you have any more episodes of Captain Kangaroo? I just love that show!
Green wear!

I watched this in the third grade
When I was 8 this seemed normal, but these guys look like they met at AA...
337 337 Lol!!
Because it's 3 white men. Very unusual today to see that combo.
Do you have the episode of Captain Kangaroo with Mister Rogers?
No but I've seen it. Mr. Rogers came on the set of Captain Kangaroo with an old gramophone. I regret that I didn't make a copy of it. I have posted a show of Captain Kangaroo and Bunny Rabbit appearing on Mr. Rogers. It will show up if you search for it.
I have seen it, and I am very grateful you posted it.
So glad you enjoyed it.
Thank you both for that wonderful message exchange.
You're welcome!
For real, the nostalgia has people drunk with fond memories and pure delusion. Yes, we all loved our childhood morning programs. You, your Captain Kangaroo; me, the Wallace & Ladmo show; others and their Bozo the Clown and so on. That said, kids have far better options and a limitless variety of more entertaining, more educational, better funded, simply superior programs to choose from. What we had was truly wonderful in our day, but if we are being honest and not allowing nostalgia to lead us into deceiving ourselves we all would have rather had then what kids have now.
Quagigitymire Shut up bitch...
Do u have The Captain Kangaroo episode of him in Americana ?
No, I only have four full episodes.
Is that Maury povich also
If you don't mind me asking "What was the earliest episode that PBS had and about how many did they have ?
That I do not know. They were running mostly the CBS 1970s shows.
Just wondering. Wish they still aired them. Thank You for sharing.
The episodes before 1980 were indeed the ones that aired on PBS. The episodes from 1980 and onward never appeared on PBS.
how did the deer's leg set in less than 3 weeks , it was only 3 weeks old and the cast already off? I call BS
I wonder time
B.B.
Ok
