  • The word "fundamentalist" sounds almost frightening to most of us. Some people have heard of the FLDS, the Mormon fundamentalist group run by Warren Jeffs, which has a very dark history.
What most don't know is that there are over 20 Mormon fundamentalist groups that practice the old teachings including polygamy. Today, we meet up with one of these groups who brings us into their world and way of thinking. Access to a group like this is almost impossible to get, so we have a rare peek behind the curtain.

A good journalist keeps their own ideas out of the interview.
(I doubt if MSNBC would ever be invited to report on this group.)
On the flip side, Sean Penn gained the trust of (former) drug kingpin Joaquín (El Chapo) Guzmán, of the Sinaloa Cartel: having gone in to interview that crime boss...
Sometimes, you just don't give them the notoriety that they seek!

The reason why Peter is so universally accepted is because he doesn't find the need to debate people. He simply wants to understand their perspective. There would be a lot more communication between different groups if people approached conversations this way rather than going in with the intention to undermine someone else's way of thinking.

Some would also say that they were allowed to keep the wives they already had, but there are still documents to support polygamy post manifesto.
