I literally have just received the edge and took them out for a quick sesh and these are my thoughts . I have currently been wearing the numbers up version of the freak+ and at first the midfoot was incredibly tight. So I tried stretching with a wine bottle . I know it sounds weird but it really worked left it for about two days and boom ! The uppers on the edge feel really plasticy , but the panels it has really does give a very distinct feel on the ball . Both shoes are wide up front so no problem there . Since I do have wide feet .The edge does have a really stiff upper compared to the freak + but again it’s about the sensation, and really maybe the play style. Yes boots don’t matter really what position you play and won’t make you better but trying on the boots you would you know what I mean .the freak feels a lot more connected to the foot and ball while the edge does not .the edge also is really tight on the little pointy bone on top of my foot and caused slight discomfort and had to take them off a bit early :( while the freak has the prime knit there on my foot so it’s very comfy now. the edge is a fantastic boot but for me the EDGE is going the FREAK+ . Love the feel and sensation of the ball on the freaks more than edge. The edge isn’t a bad boot but I know it will require more break in time than the freaks.
I just ordered the laces version of freak, I have wide feet so kinda worried they’ll not fit
how long did it take to break in?

For me using the boot now for a short period I’ve already decided. When I had the FREAK my foot fell to tight and cramped in mid foot and towards my toes causing me to get blisters on my toes and on my heal and although it’s minor it affects you, where as when I had the EDGE my foot felt more free and less cramped whilst still being tight and fortunately didn’t give me blisters anywhere on my feet which is great. Coming to grip the freak feel less grippy in a nice way, what I mean by that is it had a lot of grip but wasn’t over done which was a nice feeling on the ball, it also felt very accurate when doing in the air tricks and close ball work which is nice. The EDGE felt more grippy and a bit over done but also feels nice on the ball when doing close to feet ball work, you can still do in the air tricks but doesn’t feel as nice as the FREAK. The Freak stuck the ball weakly for me and didn’t seem to get the precise power then what a forward or a long range shooter may want which can be big deal for some or mild for others. The EDGE struck the ball with lots of power and was really nice to feel which is big for all types of players. So overall I lean towards the EDGE but some will feel different about that.
I think the freak looks way cooler! And would suit my playing style better
I have the Freak+. They are by far the best boots I've ever worn. The control and power is insane. The only downside is that they're a bit too grippy in dry weather if you like dribbling. I will get the Edges to compare, but think I'll wait for a better color because both the blue and black are less than impressive.

I don't trust buying the Edge+ because I bought a pair of the 2012 version and those fins peeled off and some fell off after 10 or so games. I look forward to the next generation Copas (the ones that Arthur was spotted using in a training session) because they look amazing. For now, I will stick with my trusted X Ghosted.

I always wear 2 sizes larger for football boots because I am a wide foot and the only ones available were the edge 3 and they are incredible
id say that the freaks are more of a midfielder boot, whereas the edge is more of a winger/forward boot

Got the xman freaks and it’s pretty cool I’m use to superflys and hypervenoms when there were around but when it rains I have more grip with the freaks

i mostly tested the + versions, but coming to the Predator Edge i just don't like 'thick' plasticy material and that clunky layout in general. It also was impossible to get my feet inside those.
Predator Freak on the other hand felt better and i like the spikes a lot more because you keep more feel on the ball but coming to comfort i have to mention that my heels just felt really uncomfortable.
Ghosted was ok but nothing special. If you like thin plastic boots and prefer to have the best feel on the ball i hardly recommend chosing the speedflow, if you want the most comfort and a leather feel F50 Adizer IV every day - They are just great because they are a hybrid beetween the X having a carbon inlay and a leather boot which gives you a considerable amount of protection on your feet but still a pronounced touch, because its still very soft and flexibel material not like Kaiser 5 ones for example.

If you’re someone who has never bought a top end boot the edge feels pretty good. I have the edge and it feels so much more attached to me compared to other boots I’ve owned and the rubber elements really help with getting some swerve on the ball. Honestly I like the edge a lot and feel like people put it down because they’re so used to super high end boots. Comparatively the edge isn’t as comfortable as other top end boots but it has actual functional tech in the form of the striking elements which will make a noticeable difference with the ball. The freak provided a good ball feel why the edge provides good power, swerve and some increase grip on the ball. As someone who’s playing style focused on passing and shots rather than tricks I find the edge as a better deal but if I focused on 1v1’s a little more I could see this being closer.
In my opinion I love the freak better than the edge

Edge is not so "Predator" vibe visually. Weird launch colorway. The Fins might be too big in my opinion and a bit sloppy on the execution. For me, if the Demonskin spikes is more durable and does not wear/come off, Freak is much better...its a weird fitting boot but yeh, I like it more.
I've never understood why Predators have so much grippy stuff close to the sole of the shoe, because you normally hit the ball closer to the upper part of the shoe. The new Predator doesn't have anything on the upper part and that's why I prefer the Freak. It obviously also looks much cooler, and it's more flexible.

Having the grip all over also helps when receiving the ball since it covers more surface area. You’re gonna get bad touches from time to time, especially when it’s in the air
@@AndreasNV only power shots are taken with the top of the foot. Regardless, modern Preds are garbage, I will stick with my Powerswerve or hope to get some more of the remakes for under retail

I think right now I’m just not a fan of the shape of them… but I didn’t like the freak at first and got used to the look of them! So we’ll see but right now I’d rather stick with the freak personally

Predators are the good ones for me the predators are looking very good ones give you a lot of grip I don't know why but it just feels very comfortable and you know how it feels better comfortable
I like the Freak .1 I found better to curve the ball and better control and the sole plate and studs I find much better for fast sprinting and turning.

As someone who went from Adidas predictor spikes to Adidas predator fins I think the fins are a very good invention for football boots but it was a hard switch

So from experience of every preditor made as I am now 40 it is a massive change back towards the OG.
Freak was a great idea but if you play on 4g pitches the spikes came off after a few games from the friction of tackles.
Spikes vs stripes
Spikes gives you more grip on the ball to the point of over correction.
The strips should give you a better connection but over a smaller space. Enabling more wip on the ball

I got a Freak+, but I didn't adapt. For control and shooting I liked it, but for driving the ball I think it locks and holds.
I dont think Ive seen any pros outfileds go for the +preds. only keepers. L for adidas

In the end a boot wont make you better. I reeeeeally like the Design of the edge since its looking like a real football boot again and not a monster like the freak. Also love the colorway, dont know why everyone hates the edge, wearing it and not having any problems. Just buy what you want

Fins are not cool but they seem like they could work
You should review the regular .1 cleats from adidas. Laceless cleats are just a fad, and a bad one at that.

Does it make sense to say that Predator Mutator is in between the two boots, since Mutator spikes are more in number, and closely spaced to each other more than Freak. Making it a bit more like the combination of both?
You are absolutely right. The closeness of the nubs on the Mutators makes for a better power striking surface than the Freak's much more spread out nubs. While the Edge's close-set fins take what the Mutator's close nubs do and turns it up another notch, at the expense of close ball feel.
It makes tons of sense to think of the Mutators as a middle ground between the dribbling-oriented Freaks and the power-oriented Edges. Personally, I think the Mutators are the best Predator of the three. Ironic that it came out before the other two.
@@CognizantCheddar totally agree with you! The only cons for me (personally experience) is the middle part of mutator is too narrow and took some times to get used to it. Other than that, it is one of the best football boots I have ever had
