I wonder if the chip blew in the Dyson because the battery pack is faulty, and the Lippo's are drawing high current and overheating the chip.
If you get a new chip you might want to test it for overheating before you glue the case back together. Although the type of part would probably indicate a mains spike of some sort.
I usually glue a 20mm strip of Palstrut 1mm sheet over the glued seam for strength.
It's often smarter to cut the top off leaving 10 mm distance from the edge. That way it can be glued where a person does not squeeze to remove the transformer from the wall. I use the back of a boxcutter blade to deeply scour the lines and a thin hacksaw blade to go round the corners. Its only good if you have good hand skills. Not for everyone.
I won't be bothering to replace the chip. I might get lucky and that is all that is wrong with it, or it might be a never ending series of part fixes. A replacement charger is not too expensive compared to the cost of a new Dyson so that is an option, but a big part of me just wants to tear it right down so I can see inside a Dyson. Plus that means I would get two battery packs to play with too 😁😁👍👍
Interesting video, the old vacuum cleaner has done well and if you could find a battery replacement of some kind could go on for many more years. If not nice motor to salvage. And your Dyson is working good news, looking forward to see the fan clock. I bought myself and one for my dad of the type that waved a stick back and fourth looked a little bit like a toaster my dad still has his and it's still working. Good luck with yours 😊
This was the clock video - it was out of sequence because it was on my other channel czcams.com/video/I-OIjjSuqlA/video.html
@@GrandadIsAnOldMan thankyou
I bought a secondhand one while ago (an early model, DC 30, much like the one you have), I love how robust these cleaners are! I did have to replace the 4 Lithium batteries, and after carefully opening the battery case I was able to replace them with new ones (a complete battery was way to expensive, and I have all stuff laying around anyway). The vacuum cleaner works now, although it sometimes does not want to continue, it shuts off and I need to power it up again. But after that, it works again. (if I where you) I would not open it. I'd rather keep using it, it is also a spare cleaner for in case there is a power outage of some sorts. I do can recharge this via solar panels myself (straight on the batteries in that case, via an extra wire and a decent charger with bms). Initially I was planning to run it on 5 LiFePO4 batteries, but it would be difficult to make a fitting container for it. Having 5A LiFePO4 would make the cleaner run double as long as the original battery. Maybe a project for a rainy day .. .. ..
A pity your charger is faulty. You could as well add add extra wires to charge via an external charger (with a small BMS, just to be sure). I know opening and closing the battery case is a lot of work, and you need to know exactly where to drill out the clips which keeps them closed. I found pictures on the internet for that (with luck I guess).
I asked my daughter if she wanted it back with a new charger, she said she would aske her daughter if she wanted it, but no reply yet, nearly 3 weeks now.
The Dyson charger emitted magic smoke, and sputter coated that onto the plastic cover.
Time for a new charger if the price isn't as a$tronomical as the Dy$on$ tend to be (at least in NZ ).💰
A new charger would be cheaper than a new Dyson, but my daughter doesn't want it back, and we have 4 vacuums already. There is a chance my daughter's daughter might want it, but no decision after about a month of asking 🤔
The little white one garbage. dyson gold worth buying new charger 😄👍
After I got to the stage of deciding it needed a new charger, I asked my daughter if she wanted it back. She said no, but would ask her daughter if she wanted it. That was nearly three weeks ago and no answer, so it is still sitting in a bag waiting for a decision. I am torn between wanting to tear it right down, because I want to see inside a Dyson, and just buying a charger 🤔🤔
