In real life, the actress who plays Gran Gran is the Hereditary Drumkeeper for the Ponca Nation as well as being a council member. So outside of acting, she actually is very much like Gran Gran.
You can tell why as a child watching this they wouldnt hit upon all the death that would have insued which is why they didnt show it. This being a series meant for adults we see the dive into all the death because as an adult we tend to have a different focus at that stage of our life. Emotion is more real when your older and you have lived through things that a child would break from but an adult has lived through and accepted has kept pushing through because our mental state is at a much higher sense level.

The cartoon was some of the best television ever made. Simply for that reason, nothing else was ever going to live up to it. That's not a sign of anything going wrong with the production, it's just the mathematical principle of regression to the mean.
There's some on-the-nose writing in this show, but actually if anything a bit less than the cartoon; it's just that it's much more intrusive in this medium than it is in children's animation. And as usual with child actors you have to exercise your suspension of disbelief a bit over the acting. But on the whole I think they did really well. The only character I'm personally a bit disappointed with is Bumi... but you'll get to him.
I will not be watching this live action again, but I saw your thumbnail and wanted to jump in to say I loved your Ty Lee cosplay! perfection!
Unfortunately no grown adult wants to sit through all the childish humor because well we arent children anymore and just like out food tastes change from childhood to adulthòod so does our humor.
Never watched the OG animation but I really like this live action, well done, and yes, there is the Cabbage Man, eventually
I kinda think it's supposed to look cartoony (their costumes and stuff) because it's based on a cartoon. What ya want? Avatar: The Dark Knight Returns?
Disagree about your costume assessment on the live action series they look exactly like the animated series
I think that's what she's criticizing, which I agree with. The costuming looks too clean, you'd expect the outfits to be a little faded with some stain and dirt, rather than just out of the wash.
@@cerberus01 costumes doesn't have to be gritty and grounded, also they are avoiding the entire mistake of the movie
@@tovolume when they obviously were going for a gritty and more mature feeling with showing setting people a blaze from the start.

you have to remember they have to fit all these episodes into 8 episodes so story will be somewhat different but appreciate it for what it is

They are gonna always change things up, so it won’t seem like a carbon copy or or look like you was lazy not to change things up. I’m not trying to copy every single thing from the animated original series
you make a badass ty lee and sokka wasnt hitting for me, he aint silly enough. agree about the costumes too they look brand new : P
gotta say, I think it would have looked quite stupid if they had made Sokka as cartoon-silly as in the animated show. That kinda stuff just doesn't work in live action without making it feel extremely unrealistic.
Just finished the whole first season and it's crazy how different Aang is from the animated show😂.

Yeah the changes can be jarring to Avatar fans. I think, in order to enjoy the live action, we need to be able to let go of the original story. That may not be easy for everyone.
I think my main gripe is the writing. It doesn't have the wit and whimsy that I expect from the Avatar universe. I want them to give Sokka opportunities to be over-the-top or goofy. I want them to let Aang be more childlike and silly. I think they nailed Katara, though!

Tomorrow Studios learned from Cowboy Bebop and made the FANTASTIC One Piece Live Action, IF this gets renewed for a second season I PRAY this studio takes some pointers from them?

Stop criticising on things that you can’t do any better yourself, so you basically have no right to say this is wrong or that don’t look right or that looks fake or that looks plastic. The set designers did their best to make this world possible for a live action version of the animated series.
The whole point of my channel is to give my reaction and thoughts on things... So no, I'm not going to stop doing it.
That line of logic falls apart insanely quickly as soon as you apply any practical situation to it.
