I am 71 years old and have been making models since 1955, so I've been around the block! I am big fan of your reviews and, especially, your enthusiasm. I am currently building the Lindberg '34 Ford truck as per the May, 1964 issue of Car Model (the Surfin' Wagon), but I bought the AMT reboot after seeing the wonderful job you did with the kit as the service truck. Keep up the good work!
Glad you like them!
Love the 34 PU.
Absolutely stunning!
I made mine into a
panel truck using balsa wood
and body filler as a kid.
Painted it metallic root beer
with white pin stripe tape.
Sounds great!
Really glad you went with the tow-truck, some things I haven't seen before. Great build as always.
Thanks Mary!
Cool little kit. I haven't built/owned a model in 3 decades. However I've managed to acquire 60 kits or so this month. I've hit all the thrift stores around here so I've gotten kits from the 80's up to present. I've also ordered lots of 3-D printed parts and diorama pieces and will be acquiring this kit as well. Looks good 👍
Thank you for all your videos, I even enjoy your product reviews as well. Youare really good at presenting products and model reviews . Watching your videos has gotten me to restart the hobby. I have alot of unopen kits I have collected over the years.
Enjoy yourself!
When I was a kid in the '70s, I thought that you had to use every decal in the kit. My cars were a little busy looking.
Hahahaha, yup! I'm guilt of that too, especially my RC cars back then. Stickers add speed and power!
You were supposed to put some on your sister's mirrors.
Looks great. Reminded me of the way kits used to be, but there again it is a vintage kit. Love all the extras they used to put in. AMT and Monogram were usually the best at that, But when Revell decided to do it, they usually went all out to where you could actually build 2 whole models. The last monogram I bought, had 3 complete models, with 3 versions for each. Never have built it.
Always nice to have spare parts!
What model is that bro' I, want that one!!! It could help me with project(s) I'm stuck on...
chris I (in my own opinion) believe with all the videos you've put out I think this one ranks up in the top 10 of amazingly beautiful kit that you have built......WOW !!!!!
Thanks a lot man!
I built one of these over 50 years ago, used necklace chain for the tow chain. Won a model contest with it, still have the truck, great job my friend
Thanks a lot!
I'm a plane and ship builder mainly. I build a car....oh, about once a decade. LOL. With that said, I really enjoy watching your review and build videos on these car and truck kits. That '34 Ford pickup looks great! I had to laugh (in a good way), when you said "4-day build". My builds take months. I'm happy if I can get three models completed in a year.
I've done my small ships in a weekend, lots of fun.
Another nice build Chris! Love the color scheme. I also like the green that Ford had back then along with the Ivory. Great job! Thanks as always for the inspiration!
Thank you Dave!
I wouldn't rely on my color choices as factory correct though. I pick what I like and if I get close to a factory color I find it a happy result.
@@hpiguy looks awesome! The red wheels really pop!
I keep saying each one is the best you've done but this one really is.
Love it, and I'd build it exactly as you have, even the colours
Thanks as always Gary!
Nice review & build up Chris. This kit has a storied life span. It was 1st introduced in 1962. It was re-issued several times in the 60's/70's. When Lesney/Matchbox acquired AMT, this mold was in a machine shop being repaired/restored. Lesney moved AMT operations from Mich. to Maryland & left this mold at the machine shop. It was considered abandoned & was sold to Lindberg. When Round2 acquired Lindberg
this mold came back home to AMT & has now been re-issued in this retro box art of the 1962 original issue. You did a nice job on the build up of this kit. You could (if you like) build up the 390 C.I. T-bird engine & display it on the engine stand. I always enjoy your review & build videos. Keep up the great work.
Thanks Rick, for the back story too!
I've built this kit twice, the first time was way back in the mid 60's. And that first kit was built, torn apart and rebuilt at least a couple of times. It was molded in red back then. The only difference I see it the tonneau cover was thinner and had stretch details in each corner. The second time I built it, it was in white, and instead of a tow truck, it came with a flat bed.
Having just finished a stock '25 Ford Model T truck, I am loving this build as well. I made some separate loads for mine with removable plastic floors so I can change out the loads as I want. As always, thx for the show quality truck, and the inspiration. Love all the details, and color combos. Thx again Chris. God Bless you. Tom T4 out.
Thanks a lot Tom!
I was just checking out this kit over on Model Roundup's site.. then I turn over to CZcams and here it is being built... excellently, as usual :) Thank you!
Thanks Hisham! They have a nice site!
Beautiful build! I just built this as an old barn find. Great and fun kit.
Thanks man!
That is a nice build. I did one in 1969 in brown. One thing that was nice back then was that the kit could be built as a dually stakebed truck. I have 2 now in progress. One stock body in Ace almond beige with black fenders. The other is in a duplicolor dark maroon. This will be a custom truck I have several hopped up flathead engines to choose from, also a couple of Y blocks. Haven't made up my mind on that yet. And I am sure you are aware that superclean does remove the chrome. Sometimes in seconds, or it could take a couple of hours. Also sharpie ultra fine point pens do a good job for tail lights, and turn signals.
I built one a few years ago. took some tinkering, but I managed to build it without the fenders, I channeled the entire body, and used wheels and brakes from a 40 ford coupe kit. painted it flat black red seats and accents.
Cool!
I think I've rewatched this build, like 4 or 5 times already since finding your channel. I just scored 1, 40% off deal at Hobby Lobby. WOO HOO!!! Can't wait to start digging in to it. I think I will be using the Chrome steelies and some spare white walls from the parts box, to put on the lowrider Cadillac that you built as well.
So glad to know the venerable classic kit has stood up so well through so many reissues. When Lindberg bought the molds, about the only thing they changed was to include some "not the norm" tire brand. Nice build, Chris!
Thanks for watching!
I have four of these trucks built ranging from street rod to full tilt gasser to street or strip and Texaco wrecker plus two more on the shelf that I haven't decided how to build them,,,highly recommend,,,buy at least two today
This is Fantastic! I did this model in stock a few months ago,but I’m going to have to get another one to build it as a service truck.
Hello, I first saw this kit when my brother got it in 1961. It was molded in a nice red plastic. I got this kit a year or two later and it was molded in black. AMT sold it to Lindberg several years ago. Nice to see it back home with AMT. Lindberg also released it as a rack body kit. The kit has not changed but with the exception of the fuel cans. You use to get two fuel cans with it. I'm glad to see it again and with all the cool extras. I really enjoyed this build it looks great.
Thanks man!

That ivory and black looks amazing! 👍 rattle can!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the review on this kit! I was in Hobby Lobby on Friday, and had it IN MY HANDS!! So many good kits to choose from. I ultimately went with Revell's '66 Fleet side truck (for now). Awesome build, and OMG so many extra parts! The extra parts alone are worth the cost of the kit. Im really loving all the service truck builds, and your honest clan professional reviews- Keep em coming! :)
Thanks a lot! Go back and get it!
@@hpiguy Oh trust me, it's on the build list! I ordered a few supplies on Amazon the other day, i almost had it in my basket!
I've pretty much picked up all the kits (on sale) at H.L. I wanted. it seems very few kits are added throughout the recent years. I started buying the rarer kits on line.
Absolutely beautiful! Love the colors you picked. What a great looking rig!
This is a really nice build Chris! Your color choice and subject are spot on. Thanks for the effort you put into your reviews, they really do inspire enthusiasts to build, build & built!
Thanks a billion Ron!
Love it. Good job!! Choice of colors is great, and the wheels look beautiful. Spare parts galore.
Thanks Stuart!
Looks awesome Chris, I love that flathead! Thanks for the video bud!!

amazing work stunningly achieved. this model reflects the original spirit and character of the strong American automobile. this model is in itself a trophy .
Thanks a bunch Charlie!
Haha, I love it!
I just built a 1950 Chevrolet pickup 3100. And its a "Rustys rust proofing" service truck. Its a Matt dark camouflage green. I guess we'll both be rust proofing!
Thanks!
One of my favorite AMT kits was the Studebaker Avanti...
Your right, those colors are great together
Best one I’ve seen u do so far. Great job
Thank you Mike!

About to start this one myself. Great build sir!
I just bought this one. I love your color choice. May do mine very similar. Great build.
Enjoy Al, have fun making it your way!
I consider you a pro. Also a very prolific builder i hope i can get to your level. I quit buying kits in 2014 i tried to aquire all the kits i built when i was a young man
It turned out to be impossible to find quite a bit of them or they wanted so much i couldnt afford them
Love this build! Great job
Thanks Kris!
Your spot on with Green on the engine. They sure enough used the Green for a engine color in older days.
Beautiful build. It looks amazing.
Thank you Dave!
The finished model is a beaut! Pretty good for a kit that originally came out in 1962.
I recommend using white glue for the clear parts (windows, headlamp lenses, etc.). Washes up with water and dries clear.
Thanks!
I can't wait to pick up this kit.
Enjoy!
Awesome! Would love to see the purple version!
Thanks!
I love kits that add to the parts box!
Me too!
That is one Gorgeous Wrecker. Nice Job. Love It 😊👍❤
Thanks Walter!
It's a good un.
Great job as usual. Fantastic color choices. You rock.🤩
Thanks Greg!
That is sweet!! I plan on getting 3 or 4 of these all though I still have a few lindbergs
You won't be disappointed Robert!
That colour combination is just sweet!
Thanks Tom! I saw it online and really digged it.
@@hpiguy I'm definitely going to steal this for my revell monogram Ford t street rod! It's a shame a can't find this amt kit here in the uk!
My mother in law just gave me this pick up for my birthday, it will be my next build, I love it, it’s beautiful. Hope you don’t mind but I’m going to copy yours. Lol !!!
Happy birthday! Go right ahead!
Very cool build! Love the colors with the details.

Peter, did you see my stock '25 Model T truck that I did for Ford Truck month? I know you'll like it. Tom
All your build videos have been super helpful mate, picked up some good tips thanks. I’ve just started getting back into it after about 20 years.
Enjoy Dale, it's a great hobby to get back into!
hpiguys Workshop absolutely mate, forgot how much fun it is. Looking forward to starting this old Riviera kit that I have. Bit of a shame we don’t really see any Australian cars though
Love this kit! I want to get that one sometime this year. You did a great job!
Thanks so much!
Nice build and kit! Those extra parts!!! Wow. Ordering me up one just for those!
Enjoy John! Thanks!
Absolutely amazing build yet again Sir.
Ohhhhhh wow !!! That is an outstanding kit.
Thanks!
Fantastic, thanks for sharing it 👍👍🏴
Perfect ! Great job ! 👍😊
Thanks a lot Henrique!
That came out great! I have to get that kit.
Thanks Mark, it's a peach!
Awesome result on that cool kit man. Looks great. I have to get a couple of those soon.
It's great, thanks Tom!
I have the last issued Lindberg version of this kit. I originally wanted to build the street rod truck, so I removed the front bumper brackets. I soon lost interest of the kit, and now I want to get back at it and build it stock. But the bad part is, the bumper brackets were cut off and were discarded. Going to figure out something and fabricate my own bumper brackets. Won't be perfect, but it's worth a shot. Lovely build you have. I hope mine turns out as nice as yours, Chris.
Thanks Mark, love those Lindberg kits!
sweet looking build Chris looks great
Thanks Jeff!
Man, that is so funny, a buddy of mine and me were talking about this kit yesterday. I was curious if it was new tooling or old, and you answered it for me. I will be adding a couple of these kits to the stash. Keep up the great work and keep building.
Thank you Chopper, enjoy!
U got MAD SKILLZ dude!! Much respect!!!

Gonna put it together as a Kustom, then use the tow truck parts for a later Mobilgas one....😍😎
That's cool. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Charlie!
Beautiful colors!
Thanks!
This is the same mold as the Lindberg 34 Ford 3n1, which I have. I'm swapping in the custom version of the 289V8 from the Lindberg Cougar II and going fenderless.
I may pick up the AMT version too.
Great vid as always Mr HPI. :))
I

Thanks Jeff!
that’s a cool 😎 little truck 👍👍👍
Thank you Richard, it sure is!
A beautiful kit and a nice built. Before you said the engine was painted dark green, I though you had painted it black. At least, it seemed black in my screen. Maybe my lighting or something.
Anyway congratz. ^^
Thanks!
Great build
