You're so welcome! I've started using the Captions app for subtitles recently. It's €70 a year but it's really changed the look of my Reels and TikTok videos.
Thank you! Here's a link to all of the equipment I use: www.thevidacademy.com/equipment and I'm loving the FiFine Dynamic Mics at the moment - they are such great value. And nowadays I also put the audio through Adobe Podcast Enhance to make it even better. Thanks for the comment!
Hello Judie, may I ask some questions? 1.- what do you do to have a green screen in the background 2.-How long can the videos on canva last maximum, I would like to film videos with a duration of around 5 min long? 3.-Do you consider them suitable for a training course on CZcams? I would like to make different 5 min long videos. 4.-Do you know what tool I can use so people see me in half of the screen and on the other half a kind of white board with the most important highlights ? If Canva does not have the tools for what I mentioned above, is there any other app, platform or software you recommend ? Thank you so much for your prompt comments. Edith
Thanks for the questions! 1. I teach live via Zoom mostly and I swap out the backgrounds at every break to keep the scene fresh. I left it up to show a little behind-the-scenes. I'm always looking for new background ideas. 2. As far as I know, there’s no time limit for your Canva videos, which means you can make them as long as you want them to be. However, a single scene can only be 10 minutes long. I'm using Canva Pro so I'm not certain that this applies to Canva Free 3. I wouldn't personally use them for longer-form training videos. I'd get frustrated by its limitations. For this id download the CapCut desktop app - it's feature full and free - once you don't use any of the Pro features. 4. CapCut all day long! I hope this helps! Judie
Is there any way to have text extend (in duration) across multiple clips in a video timeline? If a video that I wish to create comprises several clips joined by transitions, I find that any text / text box that I create only lasts till the end of the clip in which it was made. I can shorten it by pulling the left edge of the purple timing bar to the right, so that it doesn't start right away when the clip begins but is delayed. But i can't seem to pull the right edge of the purple timing bar past the end of the individual clip.
Usually what I do is duplicate text box and add it to the second clip, making sure that there are no transitions out on it until the final time you add the text? Does that help?
@@TheVidacademy It does. I was afraid of that. That adds unnecessary labour to what should be an easy process. In other video editors, one can simply pull the right edge of the text-box bar in the timeline rightwards to cover however much of the video one wishes the text box to cover, i.e., however long one wishes the text box to last. Thank you for responding, though. It's kind of you. I've asked this on several Canva channels, and you are the only one who took the time to answer. Very grateful.
@jetuber Totally unnecessary labour! I'm sure you're already familiar with CapCut - it's free and available as a desktop app and is so advanced I can't believe it. Thanks a million for your comments.
so is it best to just save the clip that exists that you want the animation to be in? I don't want the text there for the entire video. Extremely new to editing thanks :D
It's not you it's Canva. Canva's video options are very limited right now. That's where I get frustrated... when I want to do something that seems simple but there's no option for it. However they are continuously improving and features are always being added. In saying that you can adjust the duration of the text so this might solve your problem.
You’re so right! Animation would have always been associated with cartoons etc but it’s becoming more loosely defined. Now Animated Text is a broad term that refers to creating moving letters, words or paragraphs. In animation, it relates to creating text that moves in some fashion across the screen, within an area, or by following a pattern of motion.
I’d say that you’d have to duplicate the clip and trim the end of the first and the start of the second. But I’d nearly say to download the free CapCut desktop app as it will be much easier to make changes like that in there.
On the top left you should see an option to resize. Landscape 1920x1820 and Vertical 1820x1920. When you click this Canva will automatically duplicate your project so your original project will remain the same. Then you'll just need to finesse the new project so it fits the new aspect ratio.
@@TheVidacademy I'm a dyslexic teacher and want to do videos that break words up etc. E.g ; 1. Colours of parts of words change, 2. Capitalising for example explains "where" wHERE 3. Words disapear/fade in and out or drop off screen etc Does canva cover this?
I actually got them from Canva as I pay for Canva Pro... as far as I know Canva bought Pixabay and now includes their entire catalogue for free use. If you don't want to pay for Canva you can find loads of free stock shots to download at Pexels.com.
Question! When do you do this in the editing process? For example, do you usually add text before cutting up the raw footage, adding music/sound effects, etc?
This is how I'd usually do it: 1. Import the footage and rough trim each clip down 2. Add text to each clip - making sure it's on the screen long enough to read 2. Add music to the entire piece and try to cut the clips on the beat on the song - without reducing the reading time for the text 3. Add transitions and sound effects 4. Export and Upload I hope this helps :) Judie
I haven't had that issue before but have you tried exporting it to check if it's just a playback error? It sounds like a Canva glitch so I wonder if you could open a new project and add an animation there to see if it's a glitch with the project you're working on or with animations in Canva in general. Sorry I can't be of more help and I hope you can sort it out soon!
Please tell me how to make just a black screen vid clip that shows cursive text appearing and staying on screen then fading out for a few seconds before the next screen appears. . Then if the text can have a handwritten effect I. E appearing word for word to make up a sentence, then fade our after a few seconds, please let me know . Either way I deffo need just what I described as I'm making an instructional short clip to advise attendees of my presentation of a few important things I need them to do before I coulduct my therapy circle...
Thanks for the comment. I'd create a new video and change the background color to black, then go to Text and search for handwriting and try ot find a font that suits you. Then i'd paste in what I want to say and adjust the duration to give the viewer enough time to read it plus an extra second and then I'd click Animate and Text Animations and use something like Typewriter. It won't look like it's being written but it will be close enough. Then duplicate that and paste in your next text and repeat. I hope this helps and sorry about the late reply.
I appreciate your response. I recently used a template to try it but I have to explore the fonts as they are not as visible as I'd like.. Is there an effect of words being sketched in blocked capitals letters (like when you write notes on a note pad with a pencil) ?
There is a whiteboard drawing software called Moovly that I've used in the past and it worked really well but I'd nearly go to Fiveer and pay someone a small amount to create it for you. That way you can be really specific with what you're after and get it exactly how you'd like without spending loads of time on it yourself @@conxita99
@@TheVidacademy ok. Are they called graphic designers by profession or content creators.. I think I will get someone to do them so all my presentations are like a brand
I'd say to look for an After Effects specialist and have a look for similar projects they've completed and then be as specific as you can be with the instructions. Maybe take screen shots or give them links to other videos that are similar to what you're looking for. @@conxita99
