You know those books that are so disturbing or thought provoking that they never leave your mind? The kind of books that still give you the chills thinking about them? (Stuff like house of leaves, 1984, Penpal, I’m thinking of ending things) whether it’s some crazy plot twist or an ending you didn’t see coming at all. I would love love love it if you made like a top 10’s kinda video or like a ranking video where you discussed those traumatizing books that will get under your skin and haunt you forever/ live in your mind rent free

For the person asking about Ray Bradbury: You may like any of the unrelated collections of his short stories, such as "100 stories". For other writings, you should check out the collection called "Shadow Show", in which all the stories are in celebration of Bradbury, and very "Bradbury-esque" in nature. Also, Joe Hill is an unabashed super fan of Ray Bradbury, and some of his books have a Bradbury feel to them. My favorite Joe Hill is still "Horns". Great movie, even better novel.

I love it! I'm so sorry to hear about your nightmare of a cat. I hate that she's ruining your experience in owning them. It sounds to me like she is suffering from a condition called Pica. These cats crave non-food items, and it can be detrimental to both them and you. I seriously recommend taking her to the vet and putting her on some kind of anxiety medication. This will save you both a lot of misery. I sure hope you find some peaceful resolution very soon. Thanks again :)

H.G. Wells was one of the founding fathers of the sci-fi/horror genre (perhaps THE founding father!) who doesn't seem to get sufficient notice on booktube. "The Time Machine", "War Of The Worlds", "The Invisible Man", "The Island Of Doctor Moreau", "When The Sleeper Awakes", "The First Men In The Moon" are all classics from the late 19th and early 20th century. I have a personal interest in "The War Of The Worlds" as I used to live in the small English village where the opening scenes of the book are set. Would love to know your thoughts sometime.

It's about a girl who must save her lost love from a wizard witch lady, and she must travel across oceans that kill you when you touch them. I have lived long enough to know when I missed out on something cool and I consider missing out on asking you a question as one of those moments. I saw your post and everything and I didn't move fast enough. What I would like to ask you now, after watching the entirety of your video; do you have a P.O. Box? I asked you (on IG) about Alan Moore's graphic novels - The Courtyard and Providence. And when you said you had not encountered them I thought it would be nice to share with you the works that rank as one of the most disturbing tomes I have read in recent memory. As I mentioned before, tone is so integral to achieving a true sense of disturbing dread. Throw gross and grim at me all day, but if it is tonally off, it won't hit. Those particular books by Moore have it in spades.

I didn’t like the troop either! I also read seed as well and I agree that it wasn’t that great. I think it’s because I don’t find children creepy. lol

I’m a dog person too but love my cat, funny I saw this random comment on a different platform and thought it hilarious. “The earth can't be flat because if that were true, cats would have pushed everything off the edge by now.” hahah!

Hey homie if you’re looking for a mildly disturbing but early well written twisty fun horror read I’d check out the creepy pasta short stories called Borrasca. They made a podcast show on it as well that was very very very well done in my opinion :)

Not sure if this counts as a horror, but I read Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy recently and The Judge is one villian that hasn't left my mind since reading it. Such a terrifying character!

You may not have liked The Troop by Nick Cutter because it also used newspaper clippings like Carrie by Stephen King. Cutter was inspired by that, so it makes sense that you wouldn’t vibe with it! Maybe it was something totally different though.

if you like EL TOPO, I HIGHLY recommend the three recent graphic novels by Jodorowsky THE SONS OF EL TOPO!
THE GIRL NEXT DOOR...wow...as a man, I am STILL disturbed/angered/frustrated by it...but I canNOT even imagine what it must have been like to read it as a woman...so hard to get through...no fun and find it impossible to recommend to anyone
Richard Brautigan TROUT FISHING IN AMERICA is well worth your time...read a lot of Brautigan in the 80's
I agree with your take on THE TROOP...I was expecting more...it was "okay", but not as good as the hype suggested
I know you like Clive Barker...I met him while working on an animated project that was being developed called THE THIEF OF ALWAYS...(late 80's/early 90's)...I did some storyboard and some character animation...unfortunately it was never made
as an aside, when he first came to the studio, I invited him to join us for beer and wings at Toronto's oldest pub, but he politely declined and as he left he smiled and gave me a secret wink!...I mentioned it to one of my best pals (and roommate) who happened to be be gay and he said, "oh yeah, he's gay"...it wasn't common knowledge (outside of the gay community) at that time (again, late 80's)...I was very flattered!
cozy mystery recos....Richard Osman's THURSDAY MURDER CLUB series?...SOOOOO gooooood
the horror movie I saw when I was much too young was HUSH HUSH SWEET CHARLOTTE...I remember running out of the room...it was later that I finally watched the whole film
JOHNNY CASH's auto bio is great...I LOVE auto bios (especially musicians)
love the channel...have checked out many of your recos...DARK MATTER...great...looking forward to more Crouch...TENDER IS THEW FLESH is one of the most recent...loved it!...thanks for the vids!
