I've seen Clapton, Santana, Page, Gilmore, Townsend, Knopfler, Framton, Steve Howe, Steve Vai, Brian May, Van Halen, Alex Lifeson, Joe Perry, Slash, Billy Gibons, Keith Richards, Joe Walsh, Buckingham, Neil Schone, BB King, Buddy Guy, Johhny Winter, Derek Trucks, Robin Trower, Michael Schenker, Zakk Wylde, Tony Iommi, Joe Satriani and on and on, most of them several times and even met some of them.
My point is, I only got to see Prince one time, and going in, I had no idea what I was about to see. I was there for the girls and as soon as he took the stage, none of that mattered.
I would give up 20 concerts that I've seen, just to see him once more.

Prince is one of the very few artists that is truely worthy to be called a genius
I listened to this over and over, tears rolling, after Prince died. Nobody could make a guitar "sing" and come to life like Prince. The greatest.
Minneapolis and the world was never the same after Prince left us to go to heaven.
Fortunate to meet him briefly, own his stage-used tambourine, and see him live about 7 times. Remarkable artist.
I am 80 and he is Magnificent!!

You know what when I was 17 I was able to get my Hands on several of his Bootlegs and rare gems. And I have seen him Live like 5 Times. But Yet I have Never Heard this until Just Now! Did the Man Ever Sleep?!

Amazing that it took the RARHOF for the rest of the world to catch up and give him the acknowledgement he deserves. Haven't even mentioned his drum programming yet either!
The best way we can honour him is to keep listening and spreading the knowledge of performances like this one. I remember the clip of prince handing the mic to mica paris....'dont you sing? '...
I'm Speechless right now after closing my eyes and feeling the tension and release of energy he played that solo with.
Very few make it to that level, and Prince made it there.

had this on bootleg when i was 17. i KNEW it was magic and genius then. i was SOLD on prince, depsite mockery from my music fan mates who didnt get him. when they heard this. that was IT. outstanding piece .. blesses me to see it promoted here. :)) Mica Paris was there too. this set the bar for my guitar solo expectation, from other artists, and myself! im not there yet!! beautiful phrases, imagery, emotion, power, control. soaring!! wow! this IS prince to me. that part that is light and joy!! oh, and what makes it is SHelia too. shes with him. fully. still get goosebumps, and im 50 now!
I always felt this way too whenever listening to this solo. It always took me somewhere else!

I missed out on Jimi Hendrix I wasn't born yet, waz still too young for when Bob Marley was around and he died when I was just coming of age but with Prince I was inspired through out the 80's and way into the 90s...Still made great music in millinium years from the 2000s till his death 2016...His Super Bowl Half-time show and the night he was playing "while my guitar gently weeps" with Tom Petty are truly ones to remember also in my humble opinion!!

This is from the bootleg recording, "Small Club 2nd Show That Nite" which I have had the pleasure to own since late 1988. It was a double CD. Amazing quality because someone plugged into the soundboard. This is far from his "best" guitar solo but it's nonetheless wonderful....There is a version of "Forever In My Life" on this recording which is MIND BLOWING.

He said in multiple interviews that he preferred player in smaller venues because of the sound and energy. I got to see him play in SC back in 2011.

Small Club is out on vinyl bootleg. Came out a few years ago. Parts 1and 2. It sounds great. Had the cassette for years. Fun to have it on wax. I saw a similar set the same year in SF the same night after his Lovesexy show at the Oakland Coliseum. What a night.

I've come across several guitar players who unprompted declared this "the best guitar solo ever". This was Prince during his absolute creative peak in 1988 - with Sheila E on drums. There's real magic happening here. His later "best solos" like While My Guitar Gently Weeps is more Prince doing his bag of tricks.

I was lucky in the front row in Helsinki July 2011, when I caught the wrist sleeve that he threw. First and last concert in Finland. A wonderful concert also musically. Although I have seen dozens of stars, even Michael Jackson's show was not better.

these visuals are so cool, is it all AI or did you have to edit the moving images?
I used several different programs. For most of the psychedelic stuff I used a program called Deforum. I prompted nearly 100 videos with different concepts, particularly of Prince playing in Heaven and on several astral planes. Then I picked the ones I liked and cut them together to fit the flow of the solo.
