And this is WHY throughout CZcams with all these old car revivals get more views and more attention than most newer car reviews. Why?? Because with these old cars, no matter how long they are sitting they always come alive and come back from the dead. And they never let you down! Good job getting these buddy. Hope more builds like these are in your future.

I think the GMC Caballero would be a great car to use as a reincarnation of the badass El Camino. The Chevy was a beautiful car but she is done with that frame damage. But how awesome would it be to transplant her parts and on the GMC and make the GMC like a replica of how the El Camino looked before the accident, only with a different VIN. You could even save the GMC engine for another build or sell the engine and make this a budget build where good parts you don't need get sold for keeping the total cost low. Rebuilding the GMC Caballero to original condition isn't worth the hassle and expense she needs absolutely everything (bodywork, upholstery, mechanical work). You said it before AAR isn't a restoration channel but about saving cars from the scrapyard. The Caballero could be saved, but the El Camino is done but her parts aren't

Santa has sweat and blood invested in the rescue of the GMC; time for you to do some metal fabrication and fix that baby up! You saved Swampvette so I know you can save this too. 🎅🏻👨‍🏭👷

There is no reason that that Caballero should be running nearly as well as it does. There is no reason that this vehicle should be saved yet here we are. Who is responsible???? Mr Randy Shear..... The car whisperer. You've saved another one, my friend! Another job well done!!!! As someone who hates to see good cars go to waste, thank you soooo much! You've saved another one. Thanks, Randy!

That’s a solid unit right there. Looks worth repairing the roof and paint it to me. Especially if the glass from the wrecked Elco is usable. Aftermarket might have roof pieces. Interior swap and wheel swap. You’ll have a winner when it’s done. You wanted content, now get to it. Have fun, should be very rewarding to save that.

I smell an Auto Auctions Rebuilds/Vehcor collab!! Ship em both up to Scott and let him make one nice ElCaballaro out of 2 junkers! Just a thought....

Full restoration of the GMC would be really difficult without a full donor top, since the other one you have is bad at the back corners. But heres a wild (and probably not feasible) idea: Take the front clip and the a-pillar + windshield frame from the blue ElCo, build a roll bar back around the original roof line, and turn it into a soft top or convertible.

Monte Carlo SS front end on an El Camino is badass. Also seen someone put a Buick GNX front end on an El Camino. G bodies are so interchangeable!
But all that windshield rust you may be forced to replace the roof.
Best deal would be to cut the roof off the blue one, weld it to the brown one, swap out the engine, dash, trim, interior and front clip of the blue one and paint it.
Or just sell the parts of the blue one.

Keep it, rebuild it and love it. Won't find another in that good a running condition. Cut off the roof and rebuild it. Loves those trucks.

That's an old GM small block for ya! Something told me she was gonna fire right up. Every time you start a new project i get more excited than before. I can't wait to see what you do with these! As a G-body fanatic im super stoked for this project! It really shouldn't be that hard to find a roof skin for the gmc. There are still plenty of G-body el Camino's in junkyards all over place. I think the deal with the GMC Was back before it was parked they may have gotten tired of getting wet with the windshield leaking. so they took the windshield out of it to have the rust repaired and Lost interest in it whenever the quarter window post and the roof got damaged. I agree that she needs to be saved!

The Caballero is a fun vehicle that wants and deserves a second life. Get a donor roof, glass and clean it up and enjoy it.

Randy save the Caballero and it's a shame that the El Camino can't be saved but if you can get another one and save two I'm all for that. Enjoyed the video, keep'em coming

I am amazed on how well that fired up, and I hope Michael is ok, that really looked like it hurt. I'd say replace the roof from another El camino, swap the interior from the 85 into this one and the good panels, paint it back to brown and she'd be good to go
