In Demigod Nergal's voice is filtered,double-layered or stuff like it. Plus,in album like The Apostasy,even though it's not filtered,he uses a really powerful and awesome style,that is not easy to achieve live and keep it consistent for too much time .
He's already doing an awesome work with it

sorry, but i have to nitpick a bit. its precisely the lyrics that make black metal precisely that.. black!. clue is in the title. in order for anything to be classified black, it needs to be linked with satanistic movements directly. blackened can have varying degrees of antichristian sentiments but in order for black to be black, it has to be satanic by default. heh, its the only musical genre you're able to make the definition this precise, imo :D
