    Thank you TMF, I know this comment comes a bit late since you published the review, I've just bought the little Nmax 125 as an every day runabout and since the dealer didn't have a machine to test ride I pretty much bought it based on your review and now having covered a few hundred miles I must say your review is spot on. I'm very happy. I also own a Yamaha MT10SP which you also reviewed and again I have to say you were spot with that as well. Please keep up the good work, much appreciated.

    A friend of mine recently bought an older used NMax and loves it. As you say, for a 125 it's relatively quick, and also v comfortable. He's already been all over on it including riding from Yorkshire to South Wales, and another massive trip from Yorkshire to the Isle of Wight and back over a couple of days!

    Had one to commute in Lisbon. What a lovely machine! Throttle in binary mode and the consumptions rarely would pass the 3.1l/100km, but missed the power for warping out. Back to a proper bike, but would say that these small scooters are perfect for commuting inside a city. Even today in the middle of the city traffic where my MT don't fit, I miss this small machine, she would pass in the middle of cars in spaces that I couldn't imagine. Also miss the storage, but the backpack do the trick. Her price and cost utilisation is perfect. Use the subway, or bus? Forget it! Buy a scooter. You gain minimum one hour per day and with a proper waterproof, you arrive dryer than other commuter.

    Looks like a good practical little scooter. Ive got a Vespa 125 primavera 2014 model. Performance sounds quite similar, it even goes well two up. Had a couple of nervous moments when I thought I had the power to overtake though. I’m pretty new to scooters I wish I’d discovered them years ago. Always turned my nose up at them preferring to be in the rocker camp rather than the mod camp! Showing my age now. Great vlog cheers

    I just bought one of these. I went all around the houses deciding on a "city bike" so I could put less miles on my motorbike and worry less about theft and accidents and such on the more expensive bike. Started off looking at 125's, then thought a scooter, then decided I needed a 3 or 400cc scoot to go on the freeway and did the usual up-selling myself thing before remembering the whole point was to just get a cheap second bike lol.
    Here this is sold at 155cc (as we don't have any 125cc license laws there's a bigger spread -100cc, 110, 125, 150, 155, 170 all exist in scooters lol) which is nice as it gives it just that little bit more top end (i find most non-sports 125's struggle to get to 60 reliably as shown in the vid. I'm still technically in break in, but have had it up to 110kph and it felt like it could creep a little higher), and it was A$3.5k less than the xmax... which can go to the new motorcycle fund lol. Honestly I'm pretty impressed at it for A$4200 ride away!
    So far seems like I'm getting somewhere around 2.5L/100km mixed riding on the 155, which is nice, and my insurance on it was about 50% my CB500, or 1/3 a ninja 400... Although one advantage is that it's so cheap I just got third party F&F which is even less. In reality if I dint a panel I can buy a new one very cheaply and if I have a major crash I'll just buy another one rather than go through insurance stress.

    Nice review as always TMF. I bought an NMAX 125 2 months ago and am very happy with it. I've had a range of bikes (zx6r, T955, R1, TL1000, R1100GS, R1150GSA, R1200GS & GSA, Vespa GTS) and you can't beat scooters for practicality. Although, it's been 4 years since I owned a big bike and the NMAX is making me want a large bike again. I live in Melbourne, Australia and as yet we don't have the bike thieving that seems to plague London. It was difficult to get insurance when I owned a T955 in London back in 2001, so it must be impossible now.

    My Nmax has 5000Miles on the clock and this is my results:
    I'm 6'2" and 110+ KG
    My Nmax has extra knuckle wind protectors and 39l top case.
    My "life" top speed was 75MPH downhill A38 with wind but usually will be 64-66MPH.
    Oposite way (against the wind) top speed was 68 downhill. Average 60-64MPH
    68MPH top speed at flat is possilbe with small light rider (maybe?) Real will be around 62-64MPH (at speedo)
    At top speed fuel economy is really bad - less than 75MPG....
    Fuel consumption: 75MPG - 115MPG depends of usage.
    Great medium bike for daily usage.

    Great review TMF. I live in Thailand, and have the same model, same colour even, except over here the NMax is 155cc. I am lucky enough to have several bikes, but this is my go-to form of transport, easy to ride, economical (100mpg) and fast enough even with a pillion. Oh, and very well priced over here, brand new from Yamaha dealer 82,000 Thai baht, approximately 1,950 pounds.

    My brother had a lil scooter in the early 90's I'd take it down the country roads in rural Illinois. It was fun, and 35-40 mph was fast enough on those roads.
    These modern scooters would be just the ticket if I lived in an urban area.

    On my cbr 125 that I had for a few years, I changed the chain and sprokets and went down a tooth in the rear and it made such a big difference when pulling away and accelerating. Obviously being a 125 it wasn't stupidly fast but it definitely felt like more of a pull then the stock one!
    Great video again!

    I live in zone 2 in London and I used to wait on the crowded platform waiting for the equally crowded train to get to work in central London. Why are commuters not riding these? Their life would be so much more fun, practical, no waiting around for delayed trains, no sweaty, crowded carriages. All you need is a CBT and you’re away! Unfortunately London is plagued by crime and I think that stops a lot of people from getting one. Also the ingrained danger perception of being on two motorised wheels is hard to break down.

    Great Scoot ticks every box for a town shopper and commuter. My wife has a 2015 AN125 which I use more than her. Instant gratification at traffic lights or any queue; park anywhere right by the door of wherever you are going; Space for stuff; and fill the tank for the price of a few beers - once a month! Not the best wheels for flat out along country lanes though! Always go for the larger wheels, the AN125 is like a shopping trolly and not recommended. And don't ever ride in wind, you will get blown under an Interlinks' wheels. Apart from these things, everyone should have one. oh, and rather cough up for + 10 year quality, rather than have to throw it away within 3 years. Enjoyed the zip thanks4 tmf.

    its a nice practical safe and efficient little bike, its my 1 and only bike :P I love riding around on it lol :P, its has small wheels so you will feel the bumps, potholes feel like craters.and it has ABS breaks, they are not sharp like your standard disc breaks, they are designed to stop the wheels from locking up after all :P

    Yes it was riding the C Evolution that made me realise I liked riding without gear changes. Settled on the Honda NC750X DCT and I have an average fuel consumption of 84mpg over 1800 miles now. Very relaxing to ride. Also you can check Fuelly.com for real world fuel consumption entered by riders.

    You say its 175kg wet but that seems very high. The specs say 125kg dry and I cant imagine 50Kg of oil and juice..... are you sure the 175Kg isn't for the Dmax 125 which is much heavier. It would be great if yo would do a back to back test with this scoot and the Yamaha 125 Delight which is more of a traditional scooter riding position but air cooled engine. Great reviews as always, thanks.

    Great review, very informative. 155cc version here in Thailand but out sold locally 10 to1 by the 155cc Yamaha Aerox, price more than 10,000 baht cheaper main factor. Handling wise, how do the 14 inch wheels behave. I'm looking at one of these or the 125cc Honda Wave that has 17inch wheels.

    • @ingopaul67
      @ingopaul67 Před 6 lety +1

      Yes I have an Aerox 155 in Thailand, its brilliant, better looking bike for less money, NMAX only wins if you carry a passenger.

      Here in Malaysia the Nmax is cheaper than the Nvx aka Aerox by about rm2k.My brother just got 1 Aerox recently.Yes handling is better and as you said if with pillion,the Nmax is better.You can stretch your legs on the Nmax though.

    • @AerysTMD
      @AerysTMD Před 6 lety

      Nmax ftw! Nmax has better balance & stability as well as more comfy riding position which makes it easier & more pleasurable to ride. Aerox may look a bit better but looks are subjective. Personally, I much prefer the Nmax's subtle, modern yet minimalistic look.

    id just like to share this. the price difference is massive in your market compared to here in my country (Philippines). Here we have 155cc engines for the Nmax and that is priced at about 1900 pounds (converted) with ABS, which is a thousand pounds less than the 3 grand price you stated. wild.

      @jasonclarke7422 Před 4 lety

      Mattyuty we have always been ripped off here in the UK,I don’t know how the companies justify it,perhaps it is because on average people in the UK are on higher wages, and that it costs more to run a dealership in this country,I don’t know but I wish we could get bikes for what you get them for.

    I have been riding for over 30 years, various machines and capacities but I do more miles on my Suzuki Burgman 125. I get 99.9 to the gallon and it will run 2 up on motorway at 60-65 no problem. Why would you need anything else? But I would be lying the Yamaha Xmax 300 would be my ideal all year round transport 😀
