Your months of hard work and skill in sympathetically restoring this magical doll reminds me that the tiny things are important and deserve love and humanity is capable of not just eradicating things that are damaged but are also capable of healing. By not rerouting her original hair I actually welled up. I know it must have been agonising but she is authentic and exquisite thanks to you.

Absolutely magnificent artistry. I searched and searched for a video to see how to re set a #1 ponytail Barbie’s hair. I have my #1 and it is only the end of the ponytail which needs to be reflipped and I have been so nervous about restoring the flip, but more nervous to mail her off to a restoration company because of her value. This video gave me the confidence to attempt it. Thank you.

Oh, my! Thanks to you and others - after cleaning up 2 of what I thought were Barbie #4s? Well the first doll turned out to be a Barbie #3! She was just caked in dirt, so I had to be super gentle, in cleaning around the eyes, makeup. After I took photos, I was asked if she was a #3, because she was pale as a ghost! Sure enough - she is. Her body has the line on the RT leg, less prominent on the left.
She has blue eyeshadow, why I got her for a good price. But she has the shading above her eyes. I checked the bald blonde, who had a buzz cut, mostly flocking left. She DOES have some shading above the eyes.
I also picked up a #3 Transitional, which matches the books. But it was marked down 75%! All 3 have blue eyeshadow. Pink pigment is lost on all 3, Blonde faded to light olive skin. I never imagined that I would get 3/3, #3s! 😳

What a wonderful restore! I have a #3, she only had dots for eyebrows, no black eyelashes, not much lip color, virtually no face. I left her original rare blue eyeshadow. I gave her back brows, eyelash color, lightly color washed lips, no sealant. I am happy with what I did. Her hair is thin and missing flock, so I tied a bun. I did not want to mess with her too much for fear of ruining this rare girl. Your restore makes me envious LOL! I am breathless!
May I ask please, the vinegar solution mix. Mine is not moldy, just curious for others.
Thank you! Well, the vinegar mix is just pure vinegar to kill the mold, a safer alternative to bleach :)

Wow what a difference! FYI...the bottom band of the ponytail was only meant to keep her hair in place in the box for shipping until the doll was purchased. However, most children left it in place once bought.
That's an interesting theory, but if you look at later Ponytail swirls, they had the bottom of their hair tied down with a ribbon, so I don't think they would've gone through all the extra effort if you were just supposed to take it out 😅

Well, we may never know for sure. All I know is I would've 100% taken all the hair out, to then be disappointed by the bald patch underneath 😂

Love your restoration videos. Do denture Tablets ever pose the risk of removing face paint? You’ve inspired me to restore some of my old dolls!

I know CLR (the stuff you use to remove green ear) turns pink lips white, but denture tablets never gave me any problems!

One of my aunts gave me and my sister a couple vintage barbie dolls long ago, but we never actually seen them because my mom says they could be toxic. If that is the case, I hope there is a way to get the dangerous stuff out and salvage the dolls.
