    Other firsts, besides new patterns:
There are now three prizes in #10 in R2.
A new set of Whammy animations start. Here, we see the first appearances of the Breakdancing Whammy, Whammy and Tammy (her first appearance), and the most memorable of all the Whammies, the Boy George Whammy.
And, not a first per se, but they are back at Studio 43.

@@guyfierimtwi With the replacement of the $2000 by a prize square, it basically makes Pick A Corner complete. Yes, there's still that Whammy in Square #1, but it still rejects the usually higher cash values in that square unless if you take the rare strategy to choose the Whammy if you have a ton of passed spins as well as not much money in your bank.

Brad actually got no Whammies whatsoever. Even Michael Larson got one Whammy! Grant it, it was on his first spin, and almost all his subsequent spins awarded him additional spins, while Brad only got a couple extra spins on his.

I’m sure something was told to Tomarken after they were done taping, but since he was a host, I don’t think they’d do much about it other than to tell him to try and avoid that.

Quite a few prizes hit here in Round 2, 6 of them. I imagine there's only a handful where that many or more were hit, the only one that for sure comes to mind is Becky Steeler's 8. (Plus Paul also hit the Car that episode, at least.)

  • @robertanderson2898

Do you think anyone even thought about memorizing the new board patterns? I'm sure Michael Larson continued to watch the show, maybe he did even though he couldn't come back, who knows. Wouldn't be surprised.

Even if someone had the idea, Carruthers wasn’t going to take that chance, and there was a rotation of different patterns every few weeks so no one could record, learn, then come to Television City armed with the knowledge.
By the end of 1984, they were able to install programming that allowed 32 patterns instead of 5, so they didn’t need to switch up patterns near as much, if at all once that was taken care of.

Kind of a small picnic, what with its shoestring (for Whammy standards) $500 budget. 😄
Then again, the breakdancer didn't even get any tips at all! 😜
