Rusty Impact Driver Restoration | Makita 6919D

  • I found this impact driver from Japan recycle shop without a battery. It looks very old, but I believe that it will work after the restoration. I rebuild new battery with lithium cells 18650 and BMS 3S20A. It's designed to be different from the impact driver I've ever had, It's a little tricky to get it in pieces. You can see it in detail in the video. The problems with this tool are dirty, old grease, old paint, no battery, and no charger.

The old Makita tools were really well built their only real weak point was those crappy Ni-Cad batteries. Because of your very excellent videos I have been cleaning up and rebuilding all of my old cordless tools and repowering them with modern lithium batteries. I find this to be just as satisfying as watching your videos, thank you sir.

I have two of these exact same drivers. Not all rusted up. But well worn. Batteries were getting expensive. So I gutted a battery. Ran wires through it. (20 foot "zip" type extension cord.) And ran it off of a 12v battery made for a garden tractor.
Battery, cord and driver all store in a squarish plastic cat litter bucket. The bucket makes it easy to carry the battery around wherever you go. And the length of the cord gives plenty of work area before you have to move the battery. (You could even make a carrier that would hang the small garden tractor battery from your belt.)
It made a huge amount of torque compared to the factory batteries, and one charge on the battery lasted for an entire shed build. (Used all screws, no nails.)
Unfortunately, I got one of them wired backward and burned up something inside the driver. No idea if I could even find those parts again.
This same sort of setup will run an 18v drill/driver as well. It runs slower, but has a lot more torque than the factory 18v battery. And again, one charge lasts forever.
Seems counter-intuitive to put a cod on a cordless drill/driver. But makes sense if you can't afford to keep buying new batteries for it. Plus because it is still a small battery, you aren't limited as much as you might think. Plus all that extra torque, and not having to change batteries out, all day long.

I wrote a long comment that may be commercial ideas, it has not been published now I am writing a short one
1-You can also find cheap parts and non-working drills on auction sites and buy them.
2-In some regions, for example, carpenters and furniture manufacturers' shops are concentrated. You can easily find battery conversion jobs here.
3-You can get the authorized repair service of the big sellers of the big drill manufacturer brands (Dozens of videos on your youtube channel and more than 550K subscribers are more than enough for your reference)
4-You can try new LiFePO batteries in the process of renewing electric wheelchair and car batteries.
When your business increases, don't quit sharing videos on youtube.😀
