- Congratulations to Pipe Major Richard Parkes, Drum Sergeant Keith Orr and all the band's pipers, drummers and supporters on winning the Grade One World Championship at the RSPBA's World Pipe Band Championships held on Glasgow Green on the 17th and 18th August 2018.
We see here the band's reaction as Ian Embelton, Chief Executive of the RSPBA, announces the winners (edited). The band then marches off Glasgow Green playing part of their winning medley. The band is led by its Drum Major Emma Barr who had won the adult Drum Major contest. Congratulations to Emma!
It had been a very dull day. The light was poor by 5 pm and it was almost dark by the march off. The video picture is pretty grim, but it does record the excitement of the moment.
Finally, we go back the band's first competition performance, a march, strathspey and reel set on the Friday. This was performed in Arena 2 which has intimacy and informality. The MSR set was:
March: Lord Alexander Kennedy (traditional)
Strathspey: The Shepherd's Crook (traditional)
Reel: Charlie's Welcome (traditional)
The consistent quality of this band year after year is the reason G1 is such a high standard as a whole now. Richard Parkes has been the trailblazer
Brilliant simply brilliant
Its just fact
Many Thanks to Dronechorus for this really perfect recording. The accuracy of which is amazingly realistic and appreciated by all pipe band listeners.
You could tell simply by performance on the day that they had it in the bag. Happy to have seen it happen in person

Like browns' cows! You would know they were a contesting and not a 'marching band'!
But boy can they set the standard for piping...
Watch them march to the line at 2.36 and I think you will change your mind. I agree that they no doubt set piping standards. Happy days.

Watch them walk off with pipes down from playing in the ring and you might change yours...
