    DO NOT BE FOOLED, I have been driving as long as this guy. Door Dash cuts orders down on all drivers who work for them. Especially if you do not take orders for $2.50, and your acceptance rate drops . Who can afford to take an order for $2 or $3 dollars ? PLEASE help yourself and do the MATH! You wait at Chick Fil A for 10 minutes for your ORDER . Then drive another 15 to 20 minutes to a home. That's $3 for 30 minutes or $6 an hour, less fuel,insurance, and wear and tear 😢. Take orders over $5 only, any less and these lazy cheapskates can pick up thier own food.

      I’ve found that it helps to move around! I live in a city that has multiple hot spots. So if I get an order that’s absolute trash ($5 or less for a significant mileage) I let the timer run down while I drive away from that area, and into a new hot spot. That order won’t come up again, if you’re not in the area for it anymore! The system is wildly unhelpful, so we have to find ways to beat it.

    auto-pause happens when ~3 offers are declined in a row, either via timeout or explicit decline. sometimes the pause timer is 35 minutes, and sometimes it's 10 minutes.
    be vigilant about immediately checking for a pause after every decline! there's a bug where pause timers sometimes refuse to reset even after a dash was resumed; they continue ticking in the background, and once they expire the next pause (manual or automatic) will cause your dash to automatically end before you have the slightest clue what's happening.

    I recently tried dashing really late at night. Although most places are closed, the fast food orders proved to be very profitable. The drive through lines were very short or non-existent. Also, the roads had very little traffic. Because of this, I could pickup and complete orders much more quickly than usual. I rarely had to wait on an order to get ready. Plus, I noticed I would get new orders almost immediately after completing the previous orders. These factors, combined with multi-apping (smartly) allowed me to really increase my hourly pay ($40-$50 per hour). I do live in a very large market with very good road infrastructure so this may not work as well for everyone. Also, I would often switch dasher zones whenever I delivered to locations out of my original zone. Seemed like they were always busy.

    • @robmen1402

      As dashers, a lot of restaurants don’t even let us look in the bag, to see if everything is included! Some of us are bold enough to make the restaurant show us everything going into the bag, but not all. Also, certain restaurants don’t even let us know what’s included in the order, so we just have to trust that everything is there. More than likely, the dasher isn’t the reason that you’re missing items!

My biggest problem with keeping my rating up is the app will glitch when I'm trying to accept an order...then it times me out saying I took too long to accept...when the whole time I was trying to accept. Ugh!! This is the main reason my acceptance rate is in the 70s....

      As a top Dasher, is it really worth it? Or do you get stuck having to do a lot of crappy, low pay orders? My acceptance rate has dropped a lot because I got sick of running around for nothing. I would accept orders less than $1 a mile. And my acceptance rate was 70%. Even at 70% I would get really low paying orders dd would declare as "high paying orders". Lately I haven't been getting very many, and my acceptance rate is pretty low. I decided to stop doing orders less than at least $1.00 per mile. With gas prices as high as they are it just isn't worth it..

  • @andylin6560
    @andylin6560 Před rokem +3

    For DD, if you want to make sure the app is working and not glitching, Tap the "?" at the top right, then tap "i'm not getting any deliveries", Then app will say "everything is working fine, move to a hotspot". If you can't do all that, the app has glitched. Sometimes when I click the "?" and I don't see the option for "i'm not getting any deliveries". Then I know the app is glitch
    I totally got timed out. I was frustrated at the no tip/high milage orders, so I just said "screw it, I'm not even going to respond so these no tipper can wait even longer" And DD timed me out LOL

    • @k9cop9mm
      @k9cop9mm Před rokem

      I agree. There needs to be a dedicated feature for the grocery runs. I have done a few dozen now and will only accept it if the items are minimal and the pay hovers at around $3 mile or more and I think I can get in and out of the store relatively quickly. I'd stay away from Dollar General and Dollar Tree, I've found that those stores typically have none of what the customer ordered and the customers generally slow to respond to alternative choices.

    @user-ox3ms2lb7q Před rokem +1

    In my area doordashing kinda sucks to be honest so if you want to make money you are declining tons of orders and DD really needs to fix how they are running things for areas like this. My acceptance rate is terrible and I take orders that pay a dollar per mile one way. In my area people hardly tip or tip like 1 maybe 2 dollars. For example: today I had to decline multiple orders in a row because the payouts were as follows: 2.75 for 4 miles one way (so 8 miles round trip), 3 for 9 miles one way (so 18 miles round trip) 3 for 4 miles one way (8 round trip) and so on. Also, when I did have top dasher status and I was accepting lots of crap orders I did notice a little more order frequency, but hardly any as far higher paying orders. the most I have seen is like 2 per mile one way and that is very very rare. So, honestly I think dash should either pay better in these locations or get rid of the acceptance rate because it is nearly impossible to keep a high acceptance rate here if you want to make any money. Thoughts?

Enough people quit as they did in fast food they would change the pay scale. Fast food Now $20 California wage not driving anywhere . While CA Dashers earn $18/hr ONLY while on delivery.

    What about Merchants? They keep messing with my paywall and I have weeks when they refuse to fix the issue. One time it took 6 weeks to get back up and running again. This happens every few weeks. We loose business. Our customers try and place orders and cannot finish up because the paywall is blocked. Doordash is screwing over Merchants too. So far this week Last week of Sept. 2023 we have had zero orders. They admitted it was on their end but 4 days later still not fixed.

    Friday dinner rush has become the worst time. It's consistently my weakest time-frame for the past couple years.
    It's completely counterintuitive, but the heaviest rushes are the worst for drivers in my area, the saturation plus wait times and traffic makes it tough to do more than 1 or 2 trips an hour. It's better to dash when the map is grey; locking out unscheduled dashers.

  • @Snerdles

    How far away from a restaurant is still considered 'near' it? Also, does it figure distance from a restaurant based on a straight line or based on driving route to get there? I think it must be by physical distance as I've had orders offered while on a highway that I couldn't exit for a while and the restaurant was behind me.

      @@jamesjonesJ2real I've only been dashing for a few weeks but I still haven't figured out how close you have to be to get orders. I believe it actually is an algorithm based on current wait time, distance, and acceptance rate so it would be very difficult to map how it works without many people doing controlled testing. I have received orders while multiple miles away from a restaurant, so I think I just happened to be the closest available driver at the time.

      It seems to be purely random. I was stopped at Dunkin Donuts waiting for orders to come in and happened to be chatting with another Dasher. I was at 40-something acceptance rate and she was above 80 (it was her first week). I got an order for McDs across the street and she didn't get any. I did the order and came back, she was still there with no orders. With the highway issue, that also happened to me, and it tells me that I was likely the only dasher in the area at the time.

    Completion rate is 98 percent and my acceptance rate is 90-92 percent. It all depends on your market. I hardly turn down any order because I take everything 5 dollars and up. If I do 10 hours in one day, I'm easily getting 300 dollars that day. Do the morning breakfast rush, lunch rush, and then the dinner rush usually hits around 5-6pm until 10. Then if you have a 24 hour cvs, there will be a good chance you'll have orders until 2am. Lol It different for everyone. I'm in the east coast and it's consistently busy. The more I accept, the more orders I get. It's completely changed my earnings. I actually earn more. Always stick to the restaurants you've routinely picked up from and plazas that have many restaurants. It looks to me, they are trying to get rid of cherry pickers who have low acceptance rates. If you decline too many, you'll definitely see less coming through.

    • @Katie-yf8cy
      @Katie-yf8cy Před rokem +2

      Same in my market in SoCal. The more I accept, the more orders I get. And here, on top of too many top dashers, we have a ton of new dashers. It seems to me that DoorDash is really trying to get rid of cherry-pickers (as the other person mentioned here), and get the most drivers under new accounts, new contracts, which I heard, are set with facial recognition to log in. I also notice there's a rotation of drivers/pays. One day I make my average income and the next I struggle. I don't think there are good orders for everybody anymore. That's my take.

    It's also beneficial to decline an order immediately because it increases your availability for other orders. While you're being sent an offer, you can't be sent other offers. So even if you only take an extra 10 seconds for, say, 12 declined orders per day, that's 2 minutes per day. If you do it 5 days per week, that's 10 minutes per week, or 6 1/2 hours per year that you're losing just from letting that offer screen run out instead of declining it at 10 seconds. And once you get better at judging orders, you can save even more time.
    Given that Doordash also seems to have an algorithm in place to only send orders you'll take (reduces the incentive pay), the reasons for declining could be important as well, making you more likely to get orders that you're more likely to accept.

    • @k9cop9mm
      @k9cop9mm Před rokem

      I have seen the algorithm doing this but with one exception. I have only ever taken longer distance orders if the pay ends up to be $2/mile or greater. For the last couple of weeks, the vast majority of my offers are orders over 15 miles away for $1 tip or no-tip. In one day of dashing I dropped 25% acceptance percentage due to this. The algorithm just didn't adapt to my declining long-distance orders.
