    "A whole new world!" Yeah, I remember that song from Aladdin, NOT the Little Mermaid, but right now I give zero f's about that. What I DO care about is that this is the most comprehensive, in depth video on how to install these performance parts. I watched this video roughly 10 times and it was the most valuable resource I could have ever found. Thanks to all of you at Scooterwest. You're doing the big work and it is much appreciated.

    2005 lx 50 owner from Canada. Pretty sure it's a two valve four stroke, 25 490 km. Got the Variator kit, head, and jets. Other than my only local shop charging me an arm and a leg to install the stuff, my scooter rocks now. So much better I can't even say enough good stuff. Get this for sure if you are over 150lbs, trust me, it makes the scooter so much more fun.

    This tutorial is great. I followed it and installed all three items described in the video on my 2008 LX50 4T 2 valve. With a good helper this is a fun project with fantastic results. The only real hiccup was on the removal of the forward spring under the footrest but I found that a large tack puller screwdriver was a big help and a quick fix. The only other problem area was breaking the bolts on both the variator and the clutch. It took about 6 hours of work for this beginner. THX VespaMotorsport.

    I have a 2017 Sym/Lance Havana Classic 50cc and I was wondering what you might suggest to overhaul/supe up its hardware a bit?
    I like it a lot but it just needs more power.
    I am also having a slight issue with it as well; It seems to want to go dead a little if I rev it too high before it is warmed up enough.
    Is that normal?

    DO all these upgrades also apply to a 2015 vespa primavera 50cc 4T? Are they all worth it to be done on this particular vespa?

  • @imacmill
    @imacmill Před rokem

    I had a Malossi 80cc kit and variator kit 'professionally' installed in a nearly-new 2015 Primavera 50cc 4V 4T, and in addition to being ridiculously loud, it will only reach about 65 kph on the flats (40mph). The place that did it says there's nothing wrong with it, and that's the way it should be. That's gotta be BS, right?
    (Note that I did not have the cam kit installed (nobody recommended it))

    Good work on the scoot. I'm shocked how needlessly complicated a modern 50cc Vespa 4t is. Same job on an older 2t Vespa - 1hr with engine in situ. I mean how much do these Vespas contribute to air quality? Surely the extra energy needed to manufacture a modern 4t outweighs what actually comes out of the exhaust pipe.

      @fintonmainz7845 Před 3 měsíci

      I know this comment is 6 years old but is it really that much easer on a 2t?
      I'm an idiot when it comes to mechanics so I'm going to have to pay someone to fit a malosi 70cc kit to my 50cc 2 stroke.
      Its so hard finding someone to do it.

    Hi robot, i have a 2005 vespa lx 50 4 stroke. The vespa sat unused for 3 years and now it's really hard to start when cold and when it starts runs really rich (i can smell the gasoline) but when hot it runs fine. I have changed the sparkplug (the old one had a lot of soot and i used original ngk cr8eb), oil, cleaned oil filter, cleaned air filter, battery (used oem yuasa) and put fresh gasoline; but it still has this problem. The only things i haven't looked at are the carburettor and the valve gap (that i think was never done). The scooter has 18k kilometers, received oil changes every 1000km, has good compression and doesn't make strange noises. Any suggestion on what it can be?

Now i get faster front end speed but my top end speed went from 39mph to 35mph. And when at a red light vibrates like crazy. Only thing that minimizes the vibrating is if i release the brakes. have fun with your new bike,if you notice that your kickstarter is going lose wrench it tight it will slip over the axel and kill the splaines and check your oil every week or two weeks so you have understanding from the oil consumtion if there is any.maybe you can keep your old scooter for parts if it has the same engine.they stole a honda nx 250 from me and the police called me too pick it up,it has a damnedged ignition lock but they could not start it .thats what they do when your bike is unlocked,they push it around the corner and pick it up at there convinice .

    Eya, After having driven my Vespa LX 50 4T (affectionately called Vespii the vespa) to pretty much any place in Europe and to Morocco over the past 10 years doing well over 200.000 km she now died of exhaustion and due to me having some financial setbacks i will have to do an engine swap myself if i want her to be revived from her coma. I am not the most technical person and liked your video's for the simplicity with which you present how to do maintenance they helped me a lot.
    The video you refer to in the beginning of this video seems to be really hard to find maybe you could link it in the video description section?
    I have a few questions though number one being what is the easiest way to find out if Vespii is a 4v or a 2v model? How hard is it to replace the engine with a 4v engine in case mine is 2v or vice versa and what will the gain be of a 4v over 2v? Mine is limited to 50km/h and engines that are affordable generally are limited to 25km/h it is my understanding that they are only limited with a variator ring and CDI but otherwise equal to the 50km/h version is this correct? and lastly in my experience the 50km/h version runs fine flat but does have some issues going up an alp and at times drops back to as little as 18km/h what would be the cheapest and relatively easy to comprehend way to help her maintain speed when going uphill?
    And before i forget will exchanging the CDI for a non limited version cause damage if i open the throttle full and continuously on a long distance trip?
    I hope i can find some answers to at least some of my questions and thanks in advance!

      +hemels konijn You have done 200.000 km on a 50 cc LX? Or did you make a type and you ment to say 20.000? Either way much respect for touring Europe on a 50 CC :-D

    • @hemelskonijn
      @hemelskonijn Před 8 lety +3

      +Chris Dorland thanks, and no it was not 200.000 km but 236.000 km granted the old engine was completely clapped out due to exhaustion. In my experience this is far above the life expectancy of one of these engines. I swapped out the engine a week or so after I left the comment above and did just shy of 18.000 km so far.
      I still have loss of power uphill and the speed near the peak of Alps and Pyrenees are still around 15km per hour but I got used to it and get to take my time to look at vistas that scroll by extremely slowly.

    • @ChrisDorland
      @ChrisDorland Před 8 lety

      Holy c...p, what a distances on a LX! How many rebuilds of the engine have you been doing? Have you been blogging somewhere about this trip? I love reading about long distance travel on motorbikes and I am very interested to read about your adventures.

    • @hemelskonijn
      @hemelskonijn Před 8 lety +1

      +Chris Dorland I am not much of a writer and with nowhere to go other then the next road towards the sun the sea or a mountain or whatever i fancied those days i felt it not noteworthy. Vespii has her own facebook page thing made by a girl that traveled with me from HollanId via London to the south of Spain and back to Holland via Andorra and Switzerland.
      facebook.com/vespii/?fref=ts
      As to rebuilds ... Nope none though i am not really that technical and have gotten help from strangers fixing up vespii while she was down trough language barriers and lack of extended technical knowledge i can never be sure as to what has been reworked but i do know people where so enthusiastic about me doing this that they have never charged more then 80 euro to get her going again with an average of 30 euro and always told me i just payed for (part of) the parts. Around the 90.000 mark a lot got replaced and she was worked on for 3 days just under the 160.00 mark in spain a mechanic worked on her for a long time and he replaced amongst others the secondary gearing and what i presume to be the piston or piston rings but this was communicated via drawings on a napkin with arrows and a lot of waving hands and facial expressions. I replaced the variator VRM and CDI myself twice in the life of said engine and of course did regular maintenance (except for valve adjustments).

    Okay couple mistakes,
    First off all: don't place the white Malossi clutch spring thing.
    Second: you putted mutch too light weights in the Vario. In a Malossi vario goes 3Gram heavier weights in than in Original vario. So for 2V you put in 9.4 Gram for max performance. And the mainjet has to be around 82-86.
    But the camshaft is a must, and the 80cc also.
    After all of this with a Ducati yellow CDI unrestricted you'll go 84km/h with high windschield. (For 2V)

    Lol best updrage I did was a 80cc cilinder, race camshaft and the malossi vario. But still slow as fuck because it is 4stroke. It reaches 46mph if im lucky.

    Good Video! Wish Vespa scooters were cheaper......I don't know how Vespa survives with all the cheap Chinese scooters flooding the market. I live in a small town and I've seen Chinese scooters here, but never a Vespa.

      Agreed, I ended up buying a used Vespa 250 GTV that was dropped and all scratched up on the side. It's now painted over in Rhino Liner (spray on rubberized truck bed liner) and looks more like a movie prop from Mad Max than a fine Italian scooter, which I think is pretty cool!

    Please call that "MOTOR" an engine, that is what it is, not a motor
