  • After a couple of underwhelming efforts at making a carbon super-shoe, On has finally got it right with the Cloudboom Echo 3, which uses a PEBA-based foam in its midsole to deliver the bouncy, propulsive ride you expect from a modern racing shoe. Is it impressive enough to beat out the carbon competition, however, and will the high price of the On Cloudboom Echo 3 derail its attempts to win runners over? Tom, Mike, Nick and Kieran deliver their verdict on the shoe here.

    I’m having some issues with the Metaspeed Sky plus where after 2 runs the outsole is ripping

    Lifespan = 4 Marathons. Written on the box? And then the outsole starts disintegrating after 50km... That's a bit cheeky, no?

    man, i hope they release the cloudtri 1 too. it looked like that one had a higher stack. As interesting as these shoes are, durability and price makes it iffy.

    In fact, I have a pair of Adizero Pro 2021 that have 1,250 km and the sole at the heel and midfoot level is intact with almost no wear, only at 1,000 km did wear appear only on the upper part.

    I also have the Adios Pro 3 and it has only 60 km but the seal is completely intact and there are no signs of wear or a few stones or metals, they can't say that even with the On Echo 3

    Hey, some say that carbon plated race shoes are better than daily trainers even for easy run. Any thoughts on that?

      Better for recovery purposes, yes. The foams offer reduced strain on your legs, meaning you can run further or more often with the same or less wear on your body. But this usually comes at the cost of durability and higher retail prices. So if you got the cash then no problem, hence why elites and pros wear super shoes quite often given their high mileage and intensity.

    Which you think is more reactive, this one or Vaporfly 3? For a 85kg man...

  • @cesarzoghbi4695
    @cesarzoghbi4695 Před 11 měsíci

    You pay $250 for an Adios Pro 3 but you can be guaranteed between 400/600 km of use without wear or problems and always giving good rebound and response.

    That is the big difference of using On, Nike and Saucony compared to Adidas, The Pro 3, the Takumi Sen, the Adios 8 and the Boston 12 are all much more durable in the upper and in the soles and midsoles,

    The price for these super shoes just keep's going up, why would you invest so much for a shoe to last about 200k?

  • @TheAkenno
    @TheAkenno Před 11 měsíci

    Nice review but for that price, this would need to be clearly the best racing shoe on the market for me to consider it.

    Is the shoe as soft as the Vaporfly?

    • @TheRunTesters

      Hi Martin (kieran here) it’s not as soft as the Vaporfly 3.

  • @cesarzoghbi4695

    Saucony elite Pro, Nike alphafly 2 and On Echo all have very poor durability and grip on their soles and the value for money is very bad.

    You can buy cars cheaper than that. Ridiculous

    It looks like this shoes are more like to be compare to Takumi sen 9.
    In what way to you think they are different?

    • @cesarzoghbi4695
      @cesarzoghbi4695 Před 11 měsíci

      Takumi Sen is cheaper, lighter and much more durable to!
