2002 Honda CR125, bad main bearing or sloppy clutch basket gear?

Brothers Henry and Luis dropped off this 2002 CR125R for a bad engine sound- a low-pitch vibration growling sound.
I pulled the cylinder and it was scratched pretty bad, so we replaced that with new OEM. I noticed the Wiseco crankshaft with the black rod, but the main bearings and big end bearing turned smoothly. I figured the cylinder was on borrowed time, so let's replace that for starters. Maybe the rough finish on the cylinder was causing a piston slap or rattle sound.
After the new top end, the sound was still there. I split the cases and found some worn transmission gears and a bad transmission bearing on the left side primarydrive shaft. The oil was filthy! I replaced the discontinued transmission parts with some good used parts, along with the bearing, seals and gaskets, and got the bike all back together...
This is the video after starting again and the growl is still there. Very frustrating, but next is to replace the crankshaft and main bearings. I should have gone with my instincts and done the bottom end from the start, but there's definitely mixed information. I would think the engine would Rev down quickly with a bad bearing, but I suppose it's not bad enough to throw anything out of balance or cause drag.
It's always a learning experience with these bikes. We'll figure it out.

Ohhh thats a good one. Does it change when you pull in the clutch?

I ended up pulling the basket and trying a different one. The growling sound is gone. That's interesting and a first for me to learn this scenario. I'm happy I figured it out. 🤙

@@ryanlester761did the basket have a little play in it? Mine does and it made that exact same sound

Yep! That was the problem. I replaced the basket and the sound went away.@@dirtbikedude1325
