Honestly good move for DJ consider top 5 in many goat mountain talk. I wonder if TJ was on roids when he fought Renan Bararo. I always remember the commentator mentioning how much faster and stronger he had looked compare to his previous fight. And he performed like Anderson vs Griffen; just telegraphing everything Renan threw at him.
I think I remember DJ wanting TJ to come down to his weight. But he had to prove he could actually make the weight first. And we see how that went when he did get down to that weight.
The problem with DJ, and I always loved him for it, is that he's a fighter, not an entertainer, he does his talking in the octagon, probably one of the most dominant champions UFC has seen
If 1% of the people complaining that the UFC should have paid DJ more would have bought his PPVs instead of pirating them/not watching them at all, he would have been eclipsed Conor as PPV king. There are a lot of people who like to whinge, moan, and complain about the UFC. There weren't many people willing to pay $60 (or whatever it was at the time) to watch DJ fight.
DJ is unbelievable and he owned that division but the UFC is about making fights people want to see and that was BY FAR the biggest fight they could make at the time. 125 was super unpopular and Dana is about making money and super popular fights. It’s not uncommon at all for fighters to fight across different weight classes.
I do wanna say this. From the standpoint of someone who fought in dojos and rings for 13 out of his first 20 years on this planet. I NEVER turned down an opportunity to take on someone bigger than me. EVER. You do not get better if you don’t fight people who are bigger and stronger than you. I've always hated how concerned Dana white is over how many pay per view buys a fighter has. i know it's 90% of his job. I wanna see the best fighter and that's not always the guy who'll sell the most tickets.
Well, since the beginning the ufc has never honored martial arts in someway. Why he would keep a fighter that just a few fans think “he is the best in the world” In a division that was completely dead? All of you had the opportunity to give Demetrious johnson the fame he has now like 15 years ago. Buuttt, you preferred to be his fan when he is like 35 now 😂

Demetrious should’ve beat Dana’s ass before he dipped
I mean Dom Cruz already ragdolled DJ in 135😂😂😂
DJ is on top of the world and multiple time world champion now in ONE FC. He’s finally getting what he’s deserved for years.
DJ was ready to fight Dillashaw even of missed weight.
Because with his level he tought he deserved a paycheck with 6 zeros, but Dana never accepted it.
Fighting is a thinking mans game at a high level. All about progressing even if you’re the best
Skill wise DJ is the best to ever do it
