    I agree with you about swapping the front extenders for the rear ones.

      Thanks mate. I'm loving the dragon at the moment. Lots of fun and an enjoyable rc to own. I'll try the fronts on the rear only at some point for sure. Cheers👍

    Thumbs up, looks like those extenders have helped reduce side bite roll overs, maybe a V3 dragon hammer will be released with wider axles and front arms

    • @RCmaxxUK
      @RCmaxxUK  Před 7 lety +1

      jammer2150 maybe..... the v2 has wider rear hubs and different front arms compared to my v1.... but I've not ran one so I don't know if it's helped. As u say these wide extenders have definitely helped with the side bite roll overs. Interested to see how it works out on rough terrain with xmaxx wheels on....👍 thanks for the comm mate. Appreciated. 😁

    funny story directly after watching this vid I got the bug to run my kraken....and u list a pin just as you did...but with no extras around I just stuck in a quick fix and back off braaapping! but thought of this vid as I went off to tear it up!!! and tuning is about listening to the engine...tuning the low end is done at idle...you'll want a nice easy popping not a high revving sound..if wheels are moving during tuning low end back off very slowly until they stop moving and don't touch...tuning high end (h) must be done with throttle open will be a little tough while running machine but the ear will be your friend you can hear if your adjuestments are working if machine bogs down slowly back,off until it doesn't and boom!!! perfect tune!!! check for air leaks constantly these machine vibrate a lot!! and try to stay off full throttle for king periods!!! good luck!

  • @TK_Mo

    You've probably solved this problem but my suggestion would be to tap in some short set screws on both sides of the pin. This way you don't have to pound in and out a thicker pin. I thought about doing that on my DHK Maximus. One concern I had about the thought was balance. On the other hand, set screws are hollow and light, the weight difference of the pin and the removed metal from taping it, might be negligible. ( By weight of the pin, I mean that the pin is now shorter where the set screw is now taking up the space where the pin previously occupied.)

  • @BIGGBULLxxx
    @BIGGBULLxxx Před 7 lety +1

    Yes it handles 100% better in the turns coming from hi speeds, the one down side that I see is it takes away the scale look by being so wide and you cannot use the stock rims for that scale look , but it handles way better than the stock setup. good job mate😉

    • @RCmaxxUK
      @RCmaxxUK  Před 7 lety +1

      BIGGBULLxxx thanks mate. Yeah it seemed to handle well. I'm not sure that with the camber and toe setup I'm using even stick it would have been decent. I'll have to do some stock running too to check. There are always pros n cons aren't there.... 👍

    Looking good shame the pin came loose but kn the plus you found it more than I can say for when I lost the inner standoff for my IRP links for the 5b. I noticed she seems to have amazing braking power. have you adventured into the diffs yet?
    I've finally finished school for good a couple of weeks ago and will be starting my apprenticeship soon so I might be saving for a DH once I've got the rear diff case from Rob. recently picked up his front case and full drive train set so I'm awaiting those, great video.

    • @RCmaxxUK
      @RCmaxxUK  Před 7 lety

      behemothfan666 fuck the Pope hi mate. No ive not gone anywhere near the diffs yet. Luck about the pin for sure. Got orings on now. Breaking wise... yes it's a strong point of the dragon ... very good brakes!!!! I like my brakes to b less powerful too so they are actually a bit toned down compared to how they could be. Stephen runs his with string brakes ... I find I need less power letting me run a touch smoother....😁

    Lucky find in the chassis! I made a magnet bar to drag around the area in the event of metal part loss... Axle extenders work good - do you think they make much difference to the wear on your bearings/drive axle etc?

    • @RCmaxxUK
      @RCmaxxUK  Před 7 lety +1

      G Hibbert yes v lucky! 😁 the axle extenders do work well, in that terrain at least. I don't know yet if they effect durability of other surrounding parts.... maybe in time that will become apparent. The drive shafts they attach to are very solid and thick and the bearings are a good size so I'm hopefully those parts will take the extra side forces applied to them. In a big crash situation there will be more leverage for sure so it will be more vulnerable. I'll get more of a proper off road bash vid done soon which should highlight durability a bit more. Cheers. 👍👍

    • @bearlambert2806
      @bearlambert2806 Před 7 lety +1

      I have a few sets of axle extenders that were made for me, the same material as the ones you purchase from a hobby shop, so no difference there, But I have had no troubles what so ever on my big heavy duty 1/5 scale in full race mode and I run them hard up in Northern Canada on the track or just out for fun with friends jumping and bashing around, Never had a fault with the extenders on any buggy, truggy , anything despite the only problems i ever had was a king pin coming loose or ripping a tire from the rim, other then that they are a great hop up to put on, gives you a better wider stance whether you are out to race or just back yard bashing, They are well worth the amount you pay for them versus what you get out of them, Thanks RC Max enjoyed watching videos you did of vehicles I run myself and others do also here where I live on the track come race day,
      Bear.

    just wondering why the DRAGON WITH ALL THE STUFF TO MAKE IT RUN COST 2300.00 US DOLLARS AND THE RAMPAGE ONLY COST 1100.00 ?

    • @RCmaxxUK
      @RCmaxxUK  Před 6 lety

      I have not really had a chance to look at a rampage close up. i would say though that the rampage is not really of the same quality of the dragon hammer. That said I like the look of the rampage ( redcat) or maverick blackout here in the UK. rtr around £650 i think..... its a big truck for the money... things like the body for example are cheap and flimsy... an MT needs a cage surely????? 1 bad crash and that body is done! pity as its got positives as a platform i'm sure....thanks for the comm mate ;)

    • @craig8159
      @craig8159 Před 6 lety +1

      Okay. I have a rampage MT Pro with the 32cc engine in it and so far to be honest have had to replace a few things so far and am in the middle of still breaking it in. Do you know where I might get the Dragon Hammer at a lower cost than the 1500.00 US $ I can get the engine and servo and transmitter here in States much cheaper.

    • @craig8159
      @craig8159 Před 6 lety

      Was also wondering if you have to undo all metal to metal screws and put blue Loctite on them to keep from falling apart or coming undone like on the rampage.

    • @RCmaxxUK
      @RCmaxxUK  Před 6 lety +1

      Hi mate. i don't know of a US supplier I'm afraid. you could contact rcmodelz here in the uk for advice. they are very helpful. I did not lock tight anything apart form engine installation parts. its well put together.

    • @RCmaxxUK
      @RCmaxxUK  Před 7 lety

      Yugo Boss hi mate. These are extra wide extenders from rcmodelz for the hpi baja. They had to be drilled out a touch for the bigger dragon pins. They do a wider fid extender set now too. Expensive though. Losi5t extenders also fit. Cheers. 👍

    • @RCmaxxUK
      @RCmaxxUK  Před 6 lety

      Tyge Vonsbaek hi mate. I have never tried a vek 5 sadly. I’d love to of course. The extenders definitely made the dragon more stable. Mine was a v1 model, the v2 comes with wider hubs as standard. Billet alloy. I’d disagree myself from what I have seen re quality and what you get for your money. The dragon comes with all the so called “upgrades “ you would want as standard with servos and a zen320 while for that price u would only get a vek5 std roller. ( in the uk at least) you would then need to spend out 1k maybe to get a vek5 to the spec of a dragon v2. Both rcs have their pros n cons no doubt! I like both tbh. 👌🏽
