She actually said something close to - “ we could have been a perfect team - he could have made speeches and I could have shaken hands until the cows came home”. I’m not sure although I loved Diana and her sons. Yet I look at some of the very forward thinking initiatives Charles undertook. In Scotland Charles undertook several projects where young people were able to learn how to be able to successfully participate in various roles in Great houses and hospitality. In another example the Princes Initiative saw Charles work with an architect to create an affordable economic community. This community was quite prosperous and successful. Yet British press continued to compare these very real accomplishments from Charles to more superficial interests from Diana’s friends.

The look in the horses eyes was what really got me because it wasn’t just the physical hurt of it, it was an emotional hurt, too. Charles screwed up, not the horse, and he couldn’t handle that.

I think everyone is dismissing how awful it must have been for Charles to be in love with a woman he could never marry..being forced to “ choose” quickly because he would become King, and time to settle down and beget heirs. I think he tried, and Diana was lost in coping with royalty, a husband she must have felt wasn’t really his choice. Tragic fir them both…now William was allowed to marry his love… and a girl who certainly was not a “ virgin”…which was the standard for Charles. A very interesting program, and fascinating to watch in hindsight, with the predictions that were made all those years ago as to what would likely happen to Charles and Diana post separation and divorce--and of course now knowing what ultimately did.
Diana was an impressionable teenager when she was wooed by a prince.... While she knew about Camilla Parker Bowls, she did not really understand that that would never go away.
Yeah...Charles doted on Diana so much he spent their honeymoon reading books and chatting to Camilla on the phone and writing to her.

Why shouldn't he read on his honeymoon. There was nothing to stop Diana from taking some of her favourite Barbara Cartland novels along to read on the honeymoon.

She raisesd the Royal Family's profile & their place of Diplomatic importance for Britain, when Britain needed to deepern friendship with foreign countries. Diana excelled in this area.

Bulimia may have made her "prickly" but it did not make him a prick. He came by that all by himself! She wasn't perfect but he didn't try to properly love or care for her either. He was, as noted here, indifferent to her and let me tell you that is soul crushing to have to live with.....
That's not true. He was concered for her, and tried to get her help but she was ill and couldn't talk about her illness to doctors. He tried for a bit but like a lot of people would he gradually found it difficult and impossible to live iwht someone with mental problems... and gave up trying, leaving Diana to decide herself to go for treatment.
Poor woman was so insecure, going to drastic lengths to be desirable to stop her horrible husband straying, yet he is repulsive and didn't deserve her, prince or not. Okay, it's probably being in the public eye and constantly photographed, it must be immense pressure to be perfect all the time however, I just want to blame Charles!

However Diana's bulimia was probalby sparked off by the pressure of being in the public eye, being photrographed and looked at all the time and feeling the need to stay slim and beautiful. Bulimia is about control. Diana felt she had lost control of her life when she got engaged. Suddenly, her life was all about formal engagments and being seen by the press and public, so she tried to control something.. ie her weight. She has said that she started bulimia in her teens as a way of copying her sister Sarah. She often told different versions of things.
