Koh Phangan - Best Fishing Spot

Picture this: you live on a tropical island, you love fishing, you have your little equipment and a kayak. You are seeing fishermen every single morning embarking but you don’t speak their language. You want to be on the boat but you don't know how!
Being frustrated I kept complaining to Nenad (one of the guys I became a friend with in Koh Phangan) till he introduced me to one of the guys who actually owns a boat and has been here for several years. Couple of days later, I met Yan and we finally went fishing together, on a boat! Forgot to mention: that child in me couldn’t sleep the night before of excitement!
Yan, his friend Diogo and I took off at 6:00 am and these incredible guys showed me their favourite fishing spot 40 minutes from Koh Phangan. They were using live baits while trolling. My first. They were kind enough to let me have the first catch: a queen fish. It would be an understatement if I say that I was dead after this “fight”. It took me about 20 minutes to pull it out. I haven’t had a work out like that in years. Later on, Diogo got a massive barracuda, but he acted like a pro. The funniest thing was that he didn’t even realize how big the fish actually was till it got closer to the boat. We had incredible time together but the weather, as you can see, wasn’t the best so we had to cut this trip short.
Although the wind didn’t do us a favor, the Gulf of Thailand was incredibly alive.

I know that spot. It looks like the two islands about 20 miles to the west of Ko Pha Ngan. Its about 6 miles north of the Mu Ko Ang Thong National Marine Park.
