Tsiskaridze Pavlenko Osmolkina - Vikharev Bayadere Act 4 - Tereshkina as a Soloist

- Subscribe: @TheBunduBallerina Nikolai Tsiskaridze as Solor, Daria Pavlenko as Nikiya & Ekaterina Osmolkina as Gamzatti in excerpts from Act 4 of Sergei Vikharev's La Bayadere reconstruction at the Mariinsky Ballet, 2003. Viktoria Tereshkina, now a Mariinsky Ballet star and Yana Selina can be seen as 2 of the four soloists. At 3:58, one sees Tereshkina on the right and Selina in the middle. At 9:23 they perform next to each other on the left and they dance again with Tsiskaridze at 10:15. Thanks to Kelly Antoniadou for the first time stamp. Tom Cooper identified the other two soloists as Yana Serebriakova and Xenia Ostreikovskaya.

This was amazing to watch. Such powerful symbolism. It really highlights how ballet can artistically but compellingly tell a story. Why do we not see this version anymore? I find it much more interesting than the current Mariinsky version. It also made me appreciate Osmolkina as a dancer much more than I used to (I always adored her, don't get me wrong, but WOW, this!). I also feel like the Solar costume is more culturally accurate than the current version? The music is also different. The current version pas de deux being in Act II with no spirit of Nikiya is just so much more formalized and less interesting than THIS, which to me demonstrates the epitome of the technical prowess as well as the creative capacity of narrative classical ballet!

What an amazing reconstruction of La Bayadere! A marvellous production and excellent performing. The last act, especially, impressed me with the clear symbolism of Solor being torn by his love for Nikiya (now intervening in spirit form) and his duty to Gamzatti. The solo variation by Tsiskaridze was breathtaking! How his dancing flows! All 3 were a great cast to have seen. What a pity Vikharev died so young and can't do more of this type of choreography! Thank you for this tribute to him and the principals!
I love this production of Vikharev, especially his reconstruction of the last act of La Bayadere. Three of them were amazing. Thank you very much for sharing ❤️❤️❤️

I really enjoyed this version. I think dancers can be inspired by changes to a choreography/plot and I felt that here. I am now seeking out the other Vikharev version videos that you have posted. Thank you for for your work in bringing these glimpses to us. (And, of course, Tsiskardze was as magnificent as ever).

Thank you for uploading this beautiful ballet. Lovely choreography and extremely good danced. Must have been very difficult with those beautiful but very heavy costumes. Again another one of my favorites 👌👌👌

Не знаю, кто снимал этот спектакль, но, к сожалению, для автора видео главным в этой сцене оказался Цискаридзе, а обе героини слишком часто оказывались "за кадром". Такой подход просто разрушает спектакль. Обе исполнительницы - и Д. Павленко (Никия), и Е. Осмолкина (Гамзатти) - прекрасны. Жаль, что этот спектакль так быстро сошел со сцены Мариинского театра. К сожалению, такова судьба почти всех постановок Сергея Вихарева. В репертуаре Мариинского театра остаются его Спящая красавица и Пробуждение Флоры, но идут эти спектакли крайне редко.
ну видимо не столь прекрасны, что смотришь на Цискаридзе; а вы бы предложить вообще его не снимать, только, чтобы эти "прекрасные" балерины вышли на первый план? но если они не могли перетанцевать Николая Максимовича, в этом-то проблема многих: до уровня Цискаридзе очень трудно дотянуться
@@user-pb8xc4nk8l Вообще-то странный ответ. Вы, наверное, одна из заядлых поклонниц, которые ревнуют НЦ к его партнершам? :-) Присмотритесь еще раз и увидите как хороши, артистичны, музыкальны и техничны девушки.
Обе героини - замечательные балерины. И тот же Цискаридзе, как раз в период этой постановки "Баядерки", называл Дарью Павленко в ряду немногих балерин, с которыми он связывал будущее российского (и не только российского) балета. К сожалению, из-за тяжелых травм ее карьера не сложилась так, как могла бы.

Thanks for posting this. The Houston Ballet performs this (I probably mentioned that before somewhere) and it's fun to compare and contrast in my head at least the two performances. Tsiskaridze's extension is amazing for someone so unlimber as me.
I am not going to mention I heard pointe shop clomp because that got me in trouble last time ;-).
They can not perform THIS. This act was only in the reconstruction by Vikharev in Mariinsky. What they perform in Houston Ballet may be the version by Makarova. Or somebody else.

I don't know enough to say what version the Houston Ballet performs, but it is a popular show here. The costumes are just as colorful. It's a lot of fun to watch.
@@DavidLeBlanc Easy giveaway is that Makarova's is done in 3 acts. Hers, like most modern productions, moves a lot of this music and choreography wholesale to the "engagement" scene.

Интересно увидеть па-де-труа Солора с живой Гамзатти и "тенью" Никии, которого нет в постановке Большого театра. А эти экзотические костюмы также очень идут Цискаридзе, хотя они, наверно, тяжеловаты. В Москве костюмы более условны и выглядят попроще, но они явно полегче и удобнее для танца...
Это просто совершенство.

Исполнение выше всяких похвал, вся троица великолепна. Но вот костюм Солора(при всей своей роскоши) мне кажется тяжеловат, особенно чалма, но зато многочисленные дамы, целомудрие которых, ха-ха, страдает при виде мужчин в балетном трико будут довольны. Но не могу представить себе артиста с менее длинными ногами, чем у НМЦ в таком костюме. Он очень визуально режет ноги, при этом балерины танцуют в пачках.
May I kindly say I feel Tsiskaridze is slightly struggling here but wonderful all the same as always 💎🌹
Yes, he maybe dancing with slightly less energy than usual. He was only 30 to at the time so it's not age! I did notice that he appeared to be breathing more heavily than is usual for him after his variations: tiredness, too many performances, a respiratory problem, who knows. It's hardly noticeable and certainly did not affect his artistic interpretation, nor his partnering.
Tira su la ballerina come un fiore e la fa sembrare leggerissima, in ogni caso è sempre lui il protagonista, lo vedi anche in seconda fila per la grazia del suo port de bras.

What is this a reconstruction of? It contains pieces from the 1932 and 1941 Soviet versions. It certainly isn't a reconstruction of the 19th Century one. Great respect for Sergei Vikharev (RIP) but this shouldn't be called a reconstruction.
Thanks for your comment. I have always heard this version referred to as a reconstruction. Perhaps someone else knows the answer to your question?
As far as I understand, Vikharev wanted to reconstruct the annotated choreography, in its entirety, but received the refusal of both the dancers and the other teachers, who wanted to keep the Soviet choreographies, to which they were already accustomed. The same happened with the 1999 reconstruction of the Mariinsky's Sleeping Beauty
Thank you for this comment. I think Ratmansky did a reconstruction of this ballet in Berlin, I would love to see that. Reconstruction or not, this version is far better than other Russian versions I have seen, including Makarova's. Way better story-telling... I also think the costumes are fantastic. And it is so fun to see in this video today's principals in the corps (I already caught a glimpse of Tereshkina and Kolegova)!

Nicolay tiene una figura muy estilizada y elegante, propia de un bailarín clásico, además le agrega en algunas obras que lo requieren un erotismo muy fino, un artista muy completo, polifacético y carismático es todo un divo este bailarín ruso.
