Best Host Country! Spectacular overall production. And what a prestigious panel of judges! This is one of the most exciting editions ever.. Botswana deserved it. She definitely gave Spain & Philippines a run for their money.
Philippines and Spain literally were neck-in-neck with the lead to win by Top 5 but bummed during the Final 3 Q&A, and then Botswana answered one last time during that same round. That sealed the deal. This was also the same year U.S.A. did not place in the semis for the first time in decades, and one of those years during the peak of the Venezuela-India era in the Top 10. Also, Trinidad & Tobago really hosted this edition well and not only set the bar, but I think, was the turning point of the pageant's increasing global prestige. It is really clear that the 2003 (in Panama), 2004 (in Ecuador) and 2018 (in Thailand) editions really paid attention to the one in 1999 in terms of grandiose staging and all the facets of a live telecast.
This is the best manifestation that Mpule Kwelagobe, together with Catriona Gray, Michelle McLean, Angela Visser and Georgina Rizk is NOT DESTINED TO THE WORLD RATHER, THEY ARE DESTINED TO THE UNIVERSE... There was a problem in the scoring during the first half. Some of the judges didn’t even score some of the delegates. I think something was wrong with their scoring system.
Samuel Johnson they said in miss universe history the highest and lowest scores by the judges are thrown out so those low scores didn’t count anyways 👍🇺🇸🙏🏻

2005 in Thailand for me 2018 was not as good compared to early Trump's productions like this one.
