    Depends on what you buy and where. A friend of mine is a regenerative farmer and raises hogs, pastured cattle and chickens. That food is clean and delicious. If you buy processed crap at a store than it does suck. Here you have to read labels and spend the money.

    I lived in America for about a year and any store-bought food is just straight up garbage (let alone food from fast food chains). Being back in Europe I appreciate the food here so much more. Even fast foods here are decent food and unless you're actively trying for the opposite, food that you buy at the store will generally be healthy. I pray that a change takes place in the US in the food industry for the well-being of American citizens.

    Could not agree more!! Spent 3 glorious weeks this summer on the Camino (Portugal/Spain), and my teenage son, who normally deals with all kinds of terrible food allergies, histamine issues, GI problems, and even an abdominal vascular compression, had ZERO issues while we were there. Granted he avoided certain foods, but it was SO much easier to avoid hidden ingredients (there were none), and the lack of terrible chemicals definitely calmed his system down. Now he’s off to college and God-knows-what to eat! 🙏🏻

    This is good, but especially now in this economy, it feels impossible to feed a large family food that is free of all these seed oils and chemicals. I've tried, and it almost doubled our already crazy high grocery bill!

    Scotsman here. There was once an American documentary I saw years ago which made the claim that people from Scotland have weight and teeth problems because of our poor diet, made me laugh, I said I’m not taking dietary advice from Americans. Here in the uk we have far stricter food standards than in the states, particularly with meat, dairy and veg products, but even still there are too many preservatives and sugar alternatives (sweeteners) in many of our food products in the uk, but as I say I will never take dietary advice from an American. The west broadly though needs to improve its diet.

    • @josephfisher426
      @josephfisher426 Před měsícem

      Having stricter food standards is the sort of thing that becomes necessary when you have a mad cow incident... though I believe that was England?
      I would find it hard to draw concrete conclusions when UK beef, for example, most likely comes from Brazil, which assuredly does not have great standards. The real differences most likely come in the super-prepared foods... which are most likely for consumer home preparation (or perhaps school cafeterias!) and should be easily avoidable.
      If McDonald's has to add a couple funny things to ease the preparation by workers doing the same thing over and over, it may take a dozen funny things to get it to work for amateurs.

    I moved from Europe to the US earlier this year and I am shocked at the sugar content in certain foods. Bread for example is really bad here, I can taste the sugar in it. Sodas back home have 12g of sugar per can, here its 32g for the same drink, and some are 40g. The sugar free alternatives often contain Aspertame or sugralose which are very bad. Why not just put less sugar in things?

    Just to point out there is very little evidence about seed oils being poison. There's a mountain of evidence that they're neutral or good for us. Oils that have been heated and reheated several times may be harmful, but that makes sense since it's essentially 'burnt' oil and anything burnt is bad for you whether it's meat or bread.

    Also, bullseye on the seed oils. Anyone who wants a great starting place to better eating habits should throw out the seed oils and start using butter, coconut oil, ghee, olive oil, tallow, duck fat and lard.
