Please does it really work I’m excited I’ve been taking Norco‘s I’m talking about a lot of them the 10 and have an appointment next month with my doctor and I want to mention this medication am I going to have withdraw when I change it I’m scared of the withdrawal also and pain

I’m 73 years young and been on Buprenorphine Transdermal patches for nearly 6 years as I have Chronic pain all over my body, especially in all my joints, spine and neck. The Patches/dose helped me enormously but unfortunately I think I’ve become used to the dose after so long! I’m having severe breakthrough pain and my mobility and quality of life have deteriorated significantly and I’ve become housebound. At the moment I apply 2 patches once per week….One is 20mcgs/hour and the other patch is 15mcgs/hour. I now need to take paracetamol capsules every 4/6 hourly to take the edge off the pain but they don’t give me much relief. Can anybody tell me if this dose could be increased by my Doctor and if so, what is the maximum dose? I requested an increase patch dose 2years ago, but my doctor wasn’t keen on increasing it and talked me out of it! Since then my quality of life has gone downhill dramatically. I do hope someone can advise me. Is my doctor being too over cautious? Thank you for reading my lengthy message.
I started on bupe in 2008 in a clinical trial and after a year on it, I slowly went off-very, very slowly and the withdrawal was very very mild. After a year off my pain got the better of me so I knew the subutex worked so i went back and have been on it since. I get decent pain relief and feel very normal no drugged feeling.
I was on this drug in the form of a skin patch that slowly releases over 7 days,fantastic pain relief 24/7 but after nearly 2 years I began to get an allergy to the adhesive used on the patch so I had to discontinue the usage. I wish they made it in a tablet form here in Australia.
They don't have the wafer type things either? Over here in the UK they have 2mg tablets and 8mg wafers...
They are effective I'm surprised they only have the patches over there
@@georgem8744 yeah patches only. I’m now back on targin 15mg am and 15 mg pm.
Here in Switzerland we have also tablets of 2 mg or 8 mg.
When tappering down,they are very easy to brake in half,then again in half.
From 8 mg 2 times / 24 hours, I'm now at 1/3 of a 2 mg tablet 1 time/24h ,and will soon going to 1/4 of 2mg(0.5) every 24 hours...
My pains are bearable,but I wish I can stop without suffering to much.
Anyways,that is a blessing(Subutex) to stop Heroin addiction,it works too .
I was prescribed the patches in 2012 . My pain was day and night difference. It went from a “ migraine” to a slight “ headache.” That’s how I describe the pain level 2/10. Unfortunately I had no insurance but my daughter picked up the $400 tab for me. Needless to say, I haven’t had the option of the patches again.
Piss off.. It's just one drug for another.. That the same companies just happen to make.

@@RAMBLING_RABBIT All these pharmaceutical people and all the doctors who pushed all those pain pills on the populace and got them all addicted should be in prison. They should get far worse then that, but I am not going to say it. They ruined so many lives.
It can still very easily muck up your hormones, you shouldn't have said it doesn't. But I agree it's a brilliant drug when compared to the rest of the bunch.
Exactly!!! Im on Buprenorphine for 5 years now, but it lowered my Testosterone immediately since i started therapy with this medication, have to take this hormone transdermally, but apart of this its very good medication.
@@romanadam206 agree. I have to take hydrocortisone but I wouldn't want to be back on a drug that's so up and down. Very happy with buprenorphine.
I've been on 10 mcg patch with absolutely no relief for ra, Lupus and sciatic pain. I wondering if the pharmacy came a expired box of medicine. Is it normal to not feel anything yet? Please advise
@@ericaevans4666 speak to you doctor.
Also if it's possible considering other treatments is a good idea. Stuff like amitriptaline, gabapentin, pregabalin, regular paracetamol, nsaids and if needed an increase in patch dose. Remember patches take 3 days to reach the appropriate levels in your system and also buprenorphine won't supply you with any comfort blanket effects like other options might, there is very often zero euphoria.
My PCP just suggested this, but I have to see my pain management Doctor next week, and see if she's on board. I can't keep going like this. To prevent having to go up in pain meds, I've been supplementing with Kratom which is its own beast. I'm really hopeful I can do this.
I did the same - I had to quit the kratom. You can't take both.
@@kianabrash my doctor's never put me on a decent dose even when I told them it was too low. It was the starting dose, so I didn't end up taking it anymore.
@@kianabrash Same boat, time to quit kratom by taking this. Been on kratom for 9 years. The 5mg patch is week and I will have to go up.
ive been on suboxone for 7 years. the first 6 months it made me feel like elon musk so productive and positive. then the rest of the 6 years 6 month it made me feel like a zombie with no emotions and very numb to life. not worth taking...worst thing to get off

I quit buprenorphine 51 days ago after a solid 15-16 year ride on it. I tapered down to about 1.5mg a day before jumping off. First 10 days or so were rough followed by another couple of weeks of poor sleep/energy levels but improving daily. Getting there gradually and happy to be free
I use Methadone for chronic pain. It saved my life.

Personally I prefer Subutex ( buprenorphine) than methadone.

@@SaysWho1013 First the get everybody addicted to the other pain medicines. Then they just happen to make a drug for the drug addicts they created that just happens to be a super strong opiate with something in it to block the feel good effects.

I take buprenorphine(subutex) 8mg twice a day for pain and klonopin 6mg a day i take for seizures(epilepsy)work great together for pain,there are no bad interactions.
damn. that is a crazy high dose of both medications.
@@davidkruse4030 I've seen people on 32mg of buprenorphine but it stops working at 16 so it's a waste.

Its called belbuca in the US and just about every review %90 for it is awful,how can it help at that tiny of a dosage and it's crazy expensive because it's new so you get %5 of the medication for 10X the price.Might help people in the 80 to 90 range with zero tolerance but I've heard of doctors pushing it on people who were taking large amounts of regular painkillers and sending them into terrible withdrawal and refuse to do anything about it for the month

Aloha from Hawaii! I am 31 years old and also take both buprenorphine (same dosage) and clonazepam (Klonopin) at 3 mg a day for severe tinnitus. I agree, too, that they work so well for me together, and my pain is certainly under control!
Mmm I’ve tried this and had a very bad reaction to this med. I have pain caused by Post Herpetic Neuralgia (from shingles), and tried the patch, slow release, and at the 15 and 20 mark, (after being commenced at 5 micrograms per hour) I had a bad reaction: brain fog, itching, hives. No respiratory problems though and when I visited the doctor in person my blood pressure was perfect. In retrospect, as I had no idea that my reaction was my meds in the first instance and I was too busy throwing up to go to my doctor I did not realise my patch at 15 was the problem. So at the next dose (20) i had complete brain fog exacerbated by a melt down over a temporary inability to find a lost document. Over the two/ three week duration I lost 21 pounds and have missing days in writing my journal. I did have only some relief of pain. My next choice is oxycodone which I hesitate to take.
Without the iv beginning and switching just orally will this be as effective? I’m switching and I’m very nervous
Iv is massively over kill. Make the switch it'll be the best thing to ever happen to you. Be very careful when taking other opiates along side whilst you move over.

Non generic medication will sometimes be ineffective. If you can switch to brand name the quantity may help
I use Subaxone film and always request DAW. I have found a considerable difference in the efficacy and when you are in pain that's huge. Good luck to you.

@corbindallas18 I've been on em 8 yrs.. before Suboxone I never had a cavity one. Now, all my molars are rotting out and it's slowly creeping around to my front ones now. I truly dnt understand it.
Didn’t work for me. My Doctor has been very stingy with the dosage after 3 years, it just doesn’t seem to work at all. Moist heat is the only help. Thermocare heat wraps, expensive, but I’ll happily buy them!
Seems like the video you see now about what oxy did and how great they where and so on just with subs now there are side effects it’s just as addicting/ you need it to not withdrawal and I can keep going and going … seems like if someone don’t no this med and they go off this video it’s kinda mis leading. A little… granted it may help but you do need it just like and other opioid !

This patch does not come in 15mg. 15mcg, yes but not 15mg.
It’s a good antidepressant, but I wouldn’t call it a pain med. it is great for avoiding withdrawals from opioid medicine. For me, I had to add extra strength Tylenol in order to get pain relief..
Yeah you are dumb…… saying the partial opiate agonist is weaker than Tylenol…….

Buprenorphine is an opiod ,40 x times stronger than morphine 😅
It's an overrated drug. The side effects of this so called Medication Assisted Treatment are not highlighted enough and really cause further complications. The only advice you're given is drink more fluids eat more fibre which of course does not help or deal with the side effects.
Constipation, Severe Headaches, Insomnia and Muscle Aches just to name the main side effects but of course when they are ongoing they lead to other health issues but seeing as it's a relatively new medication the side effects are not highlighted but do the research and you'll see what I mean. You are advised if they persist or get worse then inform you're doctor who of course because it's new tells you to drink, eat fibre, etc etc.
Give it a couple of years. These side effects will lead to the domino effect where they lead to complications.
It will happen.
