      Great program! My questions are: Are international flights assigned by seniority? Can FA's only fly international flights or only domestic flights? Are FA's assigned the First Class Cabin by seniority? What are the requirements to be a purser on an international flight? Whew! Hope that's not too many questions! LOL! Have a good week. As always, take care and Happy Travels! ♥️🛫🗺

    • @JettingJulia
      @JettingJulia  Před 4 lety +2

      @@johnsymons76 So all flights are assigned by seniority, every month we bid/request the specific trips/flights we want to work and the system awards the trips by seniority within the company. So if you are senior enough to ONLY bid international and be awarded that then that's what you'll fly, for me being so junior I take what I can get lol. The same goes for positions on the plane, you bid for where you want to work and that's awarded by seniority. To be a purser you have to go through specific training which is something I want to do one day :) Thanks os much for watching and asking questions!

    I was 10 years old when I had my first flight from Cleveland to Miami. I remember having a super crush on the flight attendant on that plane. I kept on asking her questions about the airplane until she handed me a pamphlet about a Boeing 727.

    Highly recommend the Alaska cruise, my wife and I did a week there in July, which is one of the best weather months. The best expedition was Whale watching tour, you can book those without using the ship trips. The sights and people in Alaska were the best. We booked our cruise out of Seattle and were able to spend a day there sightseeing as well before our flight home. Hope you are able to travel there soon!

    Hello Julia, I'm proud to say I've never had an issue with a flight crew, I've seen other passengers complain because of having to wait which I thought was stupid as there were up to 200 other passengers on the plane and everyone else being patient. Considering the number of people you have to deal with I feel the flight attendants to a phenomenal job!

    Hello Julia. Love your vids. I am from Asia and am quite familiar with the working conditions of FAs in Asia. I'm very interested to know different the working environment is for FAs in the US. So here are my questions:
    1. Do the number of international long haul flights you are assigned depend on your seniority? I see you do more domestic flights than international.
    2. Are you provided crew meals onboard all your domestic and international flights?
    3. Do you read the announcements from the manual, or are you allowed to just say what you want (as long as it conveys the safety messages required by the airline)?
    4. Did you have to seek approval from your company before you started vlogging? Are crew from your company encouraged to vlog?
    5. How many aircraft types are you certified on? Is there a maximum number of aircraft types you are allowed to operate on any particular day or trip e.g. on a 2-3-2 pattern max 2 aircraft types.
    6. Are crew who can speak a foreign language given extra allowances even if the flight he/she is on doesn't require a foreign language speaker?
    7. Are there company rules on how you should do your hair and is it a requirement that you must have make up on when on duty?
    8. On a 3 day trip, are you required to bring 3 sets of uniform? Or does the company pay for express laundry in the hotel?
    9. Are crew required to pay for your ticket when commuting?
    10. Do you get served meals and drinks like the other passengers when you are deadheading?
    Thanks and happy flying!

    Great Q&A; love the content.
    Along the Question of getting started that you answered;
    How did you learn to put videos together?
    Also what to film, does it take a long time to go through your footage to decide what to include?

    • @JettingJulia
      @JettingJulia  Před 4 lety +2

      I learned through trial and error, I use iMovie which is great. I was a journalism major in college so I have a little bit of film/editing background already. My BF also helped me edit a lot in the beginning too (he does computer science). I try to include as much as I can. Things I cut out are a lot of my "umms," pauses, bloopers, and brain freezes. Lol I still get VERY nervous every time I sit down in front of the camera and talk. One video from start to finish editing wise takes me 4-5 hours.

    One comment... I was recently on a flight with one of your competitors and I saw an FA have to get threatening with a passenger who was obviously drunk. He was going forward and ignoring the "occupied" sign for the forward lav. (B737-800) At about the fifth row, he finally got the message that if he continued, he would at best likely resemble a pretzel after she finished with him, and he turned around. The sad part is, when she was doing the last trash pickup just before landing, I told her what I'd observed. And, that I very much appreciated her efforts for the safety of everyone on board. The sad part is that she actually had to stop and think about what she had done! She then smiled, laughed, and thanked me. I took my first flight as a child back in 1965 (TWA IAD-LHR) when flying was a lot different. So, I've seen many changes. So, do you folks have to deal with drunks a lot? This FA seemed like she hardly got a compliment for doing something safety-related. Like what she'd done was an everyday thing! Or, that it's rare to be recognized for the safety role FA's have. As an inactive private pilot (thanks to getting hit by a drunk driver), I appreciate the safety responsibilities FA's have. Problem was, I didn't want to ask her name to contact the airline to give a thumbs-up. And, I couldn't get a good enough look at her name badge without seeming like a creep. So, when I called the customer service number of the airline to let them know was a super FA they have, all I could do was describe her. I hope she got the message. So, how likely is it that my compliment was relayed to her?
    Many thanks for a good "channel! Especially for keeping it positive!

    Do you pay for your hotel and then they reimburse you using the receipt or do they reimburse you a total per diem that includes a hotel rate and food rate? If it’s the latter (per diem rate) then you can for sure accumulate points because they have no way to be aware of the fact that you are acquiring points.

    You can learn to become a pilot, what do you think? You're already in the industry.

      Nope, not for me! lol I love being a flight attendant and I wouldn’t want to be stuck in the flight deck for an entire flight. Also I’m not the best driver sooo I really don’t think I’d be the best pilot 😂

    So you may only work 40 hours a month and not per week? That doesn’t seem like a a lot of hours. How does that correlate with pay. I don’t think you’d be able to afford much.

      Hi! Thanks for the question. So you have the option to fly as few as 40 hours a month, that's the minimum. You can fly as many as you want as long as it fits in with the FAA legalities Some FA's do this as a second job and don't rely on it for full income :)

      Jetting Julia that clarifies it some. I would love to become FA since I love traveling, but still trying to see if it would work out being newly married and planning a family in the future.

      @@medicboss4 The scheduling can seem daunting at first especially depending on the airlines reserve system but it's easier once you get the hang of it + gain some seniority. I know FA's who are single mammas even and plenty who are married with kids!
