      Hooker just pulled the "Holland Maneuver" , the difference here is the level of wrestling. Luckily "lightweight Gastelum" wasn't a wrestler, of this will be three L in row for Hooker. He should go train with Holland.

    People don't want to understand that at 155 lbs the fighters in the top 10 aren't necessarily levels above the top fighters outside the rankings. Guys Islam already beat like Arman Tsarukyan, Thiago Moises or Drew Dober aren't really much of a lower level than Hooker, RDA or Dariush. The division is so stacked that you can still find guys like Gamrot, Kutateladze, Ismagulov or Joel Alvarez outside the top 15 and that's even after inactive fighters like Al Iaquinta and Kevin Lee were removed.

      @Fony Terguson One thing I've learned is to always go with Khabib's predictions. He predicted Khamzat would dominate Jingliang, he predicted Islam would submit Hooker in the first round, he predicted Yan would get the nod over Sandhagen although it would be a competitive fight. Khabib also predicted RDA would upset and dominate Anthony Pettis back in 2015. Khabib believes Dustin will be the champion by the end of this year... I would be very nervous if I were a Charles Oliveira fan.

I will remind you that Josh has been teammates/sparred with DC, Cain, Khabib, Prime Bj Penn among many other champions and top contenders. To me, it sounded like Josh Thomson actually thought Islam was the best out of them all but couldn't say it yet due to it being disrespectful to those champions. And it wasn't even this version of Islam that he sparred with. It was the much younger one. I was a massive supporter of Makhachev but I'm now even more excited than ever. It gave me goosebumps

      Petr Yan went to Dagestan to work on his grappling. He learned to hold his own which was enough to dominate jujitsu guys with ease. Someone who can hold his own in Sambo can easily walk through jujitsu blackbelts as we saw with Stalling.

    Khabib was clearly telling him what to do. And he got the finish much quicker cause of it. I believe khabib is a better wrestler than Islam. But it doesn't really matter, Islam seems to be able to dominate everyone. Gl Dustin or Charles, you're going to need it.

    Great breakdown! I think your insights really underscore the nuances of the Dagestani style. Fighters are still preparing for them with conventional wrestling prep, and not taking these unique differences into account it seems. That probably factors into why opponents feel so prepared for the Dagestanis until they actually face them - being slave to convention makes them fall victim to all the unconventional trickery.
    It didn't help that Dan had shite preparation (not only short notice, but CKB is barely functional atm due to the Covid situation in NZ), but it seems the Khabib-style will continue to dominate until the gyms adapt their training prep

      Khabib's styles traps the leg(also known as dagestani handcuff which was introduced by khabib in ufc) of the opponent which pretty much nulifies wrestler and bjj users and traps them which makes it's harder for other fighters to counter it but it might just be matter of time before this dagestani handcuff gets exposed.

      Islam v Tsarukyan was an absolute joy to watch, they have got to be the best grapplers in LW. I can't think of a more entertaining grappling bout tbh. And on top of that Islam has gone entire fights standing and striking too and has dropped people, he's the most well rounded fighter in LW by a mile. Can't wait for some bigger names to be thrown at Islam.

    Islam and Khabib, what an amazing team. I think they’ll capture the belt in a short amount of time. As long as Islam uses a similar game plan as Khabib, and takes his opponents to the ground which minimizes his chances of getting caught by a KO strike, I think they can go on an undefeated run like Khabib did.     He gotta fight the winner of Poirier - Oliveira. 9 fights win streak, that would the longest way to the title if he fights another contender, if I remember it correctly. Khabib and Usman both also got their title shots quite late, after 9 wins. Islam's 10 fight also should be for the title. Chandler beat Hooker got the title shot with 1 win. I mean, there should be legitimacy in this whole thing.

      Dana ? Lol dana doesn't have any bias with chechens, it's just that the Caucasus keeps on producing world class talent thats way the ufc promote them and rightfully so.
      In the other hand the ufc clearly has bias for British fighters always giving them easy road for title fights, even tho British is probably the weak country for mma talents.
      Remember how the ufc orchestrated darren till run at 170? Even tho he never was a special talent and the ufc still pushed him.
      Till was missing a lot of his weight ins and he wasn't even ranked when he fought cowboy who was ranked 6. That was a clear ufc Bs.
      Or when he missed weight against cowboy, and the British judges gifted him a Bs decision win, and even with all that non sence the ufc still rewarded him with a title shot.

      Dana loves two things money and talents. And the Caucasus always has been produces world-class talent, unlike England which is at this point just a market that is only interesting for the fans that can buy ppv, because they don't bring anything else to the table.
