Nice review.... I have a few Alhambras a 7Fc in cypress and a 7PAc in rosewood.......really like them and highly recommend them as well! Mine are 12 and 7 years old and still as nice as the first day I brought them home.....zero issues!
Wonderful as always John :)
Glad you enjoyed it Neil.
Lovely to see you, John! Lovely play and presentation! Thank you for saying that this beauty is 20 years old and looks so new! I am going to get Alhambra Laqant and would love to hear view of my favorite comedian ♥
My pleasure Konstantine I hope you enjoy your new guitar.
Just Beautiful...thank you!
Many thanks Mara.
Nice instrument, nicely demonstrated. Thanks John.

I have a 9C Alhambra I ordered from Spain back in 2004. I've had great enjoyment from an awesome instrument made with great care and precision. The 7P sounds absolutely perfect! John's playing helps tremendously!
Thanks for sharing!
do you the difference of 7P and 9P? how about the action?
Hello JS, I have not tried the 7P so I cannot give you an opinion on the comparison between the 9C and the 7P. But judging from John's playing, the 7P is about as smooth as mine is. As you may have surmised, you would need to try them for yourself. Thank you for your reply. 😊

These Alhambra guitars are right all round. Great neck profiles, very resonant sound, beautiful clarity and tone. They were recommended to me by Kent Guitars who deal with supreme top-end guitars from some of the finest classical guitars in the world from Spain and other European luthiers. I found the sound I wanted was created by the cedar top not spruce and bought the 4P model.
Glad you like them!
I'm a beginning senior looking for a good guitar that will see me through. This guitar sounds pretty full-bodied and I enjoyed your playing. Thank you from Canada.
Thanks David.
Love from India..👍👍
Haha the finger tapping was hilarious. I like your videos.
Yay, thank you!
Impresionante Guitarra, quiero poder comprarme, una.
Sí, suena bastante bien.
Really nice !

Hi John, wonderful review, looks and sounds incredible. I heard the 7P is the lowest end 'all solid wood'' construction, if you go cheaper than this then you go to Laminated backs , No Thank you! Very nice Thanks again. PS, You play beautifully!
Thanks Steve, much appreciated.
Does all alhambra 7p have plastic scratchprotection? I find it a bit offputting, but I get its everymans taste. Great review btw!
Yes it has a plate on both sides of the sound hole.
Hello Sir.
I live in the Netherlands, and somebody whant to sell me a Alhambra 2 C.
He say that its all solid.
Because he hear it on the sound.
But when i look at the product information, they say the back and sides are laminated.
The seller say this has a early serial number.
What do you think???
Thanks for the video.
If you look at the Thomann web site for the 2C it states that it is a solid top but does not specifically say that the back and sides are.
You will love to hear the great guitar player "Toquinho", from my poor land, Brazil.

I am a big fan of Augustin Barrios Mangore from Paraguay. :) I play several of his pieces, my favorite is Estudio en Do Menor. Mangore was a very complex guitarist.
I've got the same guitar my friend! Any help or hints on how to choose the right strings? I play jazz, bossa Nova, pop, rock and some flamenco 😁
Trial and error. My favourites are Savarez but it is difficult to buy single strings so they are not very practical. I use DADs for the most part. The lower tension sets will allow more rattling for flamenco. The higher tension offer a better tone.
Which one would be better, Alhambra 7P/7PA or Cordoba C10/C12, Kindly suggest,
Thanx.
I have not played any high end Cordobas but I have played the lower priced Alhambra and Cordobas with my conclusion being that Alhambras have more character.
Hey . play well , which is good ; alhambra c1, cordoba c5, or Cuenca mod10 . thanks
Alhambra every time.
John, thank you very much for this beautiful playing! I am interested in the Alhambra 1 OP model (open pore). Do you know anything about this model? It's selling new for $500 and would be my first classical guitar. Any thoughts on it or on buying a classical guitar for a first timer? I want to learn some Paco De Lucia songs.
Thanks again for your videos and may Jesus keep blessing you sir!
I have not played that particular model but I have played a lot of Alhambras and never found a bad one. The open pore finish is less labour intensive and so the guitar is less expensive. This finish lets the wood vibrate better so the sound is good but because it is such a thin finish it may pick up scratches more easily. Go for it!
@@JohnCouplandguitar Thank you so much for the response, John! I really appreciate this!
Which year was this guitar made?, I recently saw a second hand like this one and it also didn't had the "A" logo on the headstock as all the newer Alhambras
i think it is around 20 - 25 years old.
@@JohnCouplandguitar Thanks
John, Have You A Beginners Book In Your Publications?
That's on my, 'To do,' list. I think it's been there for several years.
@@JohnCouplandguitar, Everyone needs Different Just A Thought.
Great playing! What does the "P" stands for?
That seems to be a secret known only to Alhambra.
Performet
En español????? Plis
Why is it missing the a on the headstock?
The tradition is that each maker has their own head profile so It is only the more recent guitars which have this marking.
@@JohnCouplandguitar ahh I see, thank you
is this a cedar top?
No it is spruce.
any idea of the difference with 9P?
@@pastorlito2004 Correction, the 7P top is cedar, it just does not look like it! The 9P has a red cedar top. Back and sides are the same for both but the necks are mahogany for the 7 and cedar for the 9. The 9 also is made by their top craftsmen
@@JohnCouplandguitar looks spruce on the video
@@pastorlito2004 I have the 7P and it is definitely spruce. Alhambra make the same model with a solid cedar top. Cedar is a more red tan colour.
Great instrument indeed. For some unknown reason, the Alhambra guitars sold in North America have a horrendous logo on the headstock, like the ones you see on steel string acoustic guitars. For a purist classical guitar player, that is a big no-no. Yours looks nice. Thanks for the video.
Horrendous? Actually quite classy, IMO. Good marketing idea, too, since nobody else seems to do it.
I wouldn’t say horrendous but it does look a bit tacky.

My question is if the 7p is worth the extra amount of money when I compare it to a 4p...playabillity and sound wise...not materials. The plastic will probably dimm the vibration
I have never played a 4 so it is hard to say but, if money is no object, go for the 7.
@@JohnCouplandguitar i wish money was no object...i would go for the p9. The extra amount of money must be able to be explained somewhere. Of course it is a plus if the guitar looks stunning but i do not mind how a guitar looks if it has a great playabillty and sound..
@@Za7a7aZ The top models tend to be assigned to the most experienced builders and they get first choice of pieces of timber. This is true for most manufacturers.
@@JohnCouplandguitar o yes thanks for that info. It explains a lot. As a matter of fact it is in my top 3 to built my own classical guitar before i kick the bucket. It will be a costly buisines to buy all the tools and believe that only youtube instructions and instruction books will not be enough to built a good guitar. So I found a luthiers evening school here in the netherlands...hopefully i can enlist and that it result in a great guitar too. Anyways..thanks for your replies
i dont anderstant why on the music paper stand that we need to play it that way but in this vidio these notes are wrong
Music is not static, it evolves sometimes a little harder, sometimes a little easier.
