DISCLAIMER: I am not paid to promote any specific products or brands; I just use the products I find work best for me through my experiences. There is no reason for me to promote a bad product, as then I would not enjoy using it, not like the result on my model, and not be proud of publicizing it in a video. There's also no point in me doing this to keep up relations with a company if the only benefit would be getting more of the same products that I didn't like. I have not used every product out there, but from what I have used, I keep using the products I like, and that's why I use them in my videos. You can use whatever other products you would like to and you can feel that they are better - that is your opinion, and is perfectly fine by me, thus I hope that feeling is reciprocated. - Zábava
Love the brutal honesty. That's.
what I'm looking for. Rare to find someone post a negative review which I think compromises the whole review process. Thank you
Alan Karcich yeah most Tubers are afraid to post something negative, in fear to get in trouble with a sponsor... I also like hobest reviews good job Evan
FYI , the raised 'C' is not a copyright mark, it is a foundry mark indicating these parts were moulded by the American Steel plant in Chicago.
Love your weld seams Evan , very convensing. Your tutorial on 1/35 weld seams helped out tremendously. Thanks for all you do for those of us who haven't reached the pinnacle of our builds yet.
yes, I think so, he does a great job👍✌

Appreciate this heads up. Time at the modelling bench is valuable. You have saved many people time and money and hopefully a good message to the manufacturers! Much appreciated!
Nice review and best part about those special kits is the price...insane!
I live by the simple motto: Life is too short for bad kits
Wow. What a terrifically honest review and how-to for those unfortunate enough to have already purchased this kit. Thank you very much for posting.--T.
I bought this kit many years ago and only did the first few stages. Just opened it again to have another look and came across the horrible suspension that you mention. I thought I would do some research and found your video stating the problems, glad it wasn't just me who thought the kit was shocking.
omg your title scared me so much! I've just bought a dragon sherman actually. But thanks god it's the 6652 kit with the VVSS suspension
See what happens Evan...see what happens - if you try to build a dirty Sherman! :D
Better stay with the good stuff man! Like StuGs or Panzers.
Although this seems to have been a horrible kit in some ways, it turned out very nicely and you surely gained some experience there.
Wow, Evan, thanks for this review. I'll definitely skip this kit. This type of stuff is what frustrates me about Dragon. Cobbled together sprues from different kits to make a particular version. I almost tossed the OT-34 I started last year for the very same reasons.
However, yours turned out good. Great review.
A2 Shermans were, according to Nicholas Moran, were mainly lend-lease and supplied to the USMC. They were powered by twin diesels and the A3s were powered by the gasoline Ford GAA v8. Yes, the tank used during filming was an A2, but it was supposed to be representing an A3E8 Sherman. Which, to the untrained, looks visually similar to the A2.
Great video, new sub here. Would love to see a review comparing the same tank by different brands and highlight the strength and weakness of the kits of each brand
Good honest review Evan.
It sounds like you did a lot of research into the different model Shermans used during the Second World War, which is a plus. A pin vise would be a good investment.
As I said, from what you were given, you made it look really nice!
Those tracks! Just shoot me! Thanks for the review-- negative reviews, IMHO, more valuable than positive!
Nice review video, my friend! :)
Very nice videos! Thank you!
Thanks very much for this review sir.
Hey. What’s the deal. I tuned in for a stug and got a Sherman. Lol. Cool progress Evan despite the issues and woes mate.
Nice, honest review. Seems like this kit would be a prime candidate for practicing extensive battle damage. You know, if life gives you lemons...make a run to the beer store. :)
Thing is... I have it in my stash for about 6 or more years :D
Awesome videos
Très beau travail
Très beau modèle mon ami
Very good work
Very beautiful model my friend
very good job,
very nice kit dude (as a matter of form ;))
A+ review F for the kit
I bought the Dragon WWII M4A3E8 kit two years ago. It was also an absolute horror to build. Nothing would really fit, I had to kit many gaps with putty.
And oh god those tracks... I went through the pain building them... But I haven't finished the model yet, I plan to replace the tracks with AFV 35033.
It was the only Dragon kit I ever bought, is Dragon generally bad?
The boggies are a nice swap kit for an M4A1 ! The only cast hull I know with the HVSS is the Israeli version from Tamiya, lots of mods to turn it into a WW2 unit!
I have the same junk kit its just trash .iam glad you made this video
wonderful review, I have this kit too and its gonna be a bitch to build it too, only using it as it is easy to back date it to am A2 Sherman let us hope the hassle will be worth it lol.
great vid Ev!
Thanks for the warning. Seems DML is taking way too many short cuts for the premium prices they're asking.
Excellent review mate....better avoid this one like plague then! 😉
Nice review on a disappointing kit. I almost pulled the trigger and bought this one and now that I've seen your review, I'm really glad I didn't get it. As far as the tracks go, why not try to find a set of DS tracks? It'd be a lot easier than individual link tracks. Keep the good videos comin'!
Hi Panzer , very honest review of an expensive Sherman model by Dragon from 3 yrs ago when you were just a 20 yr old college student .
I notice you've just got yourself a couple of sets of Sherman tank tracks , are you by any chance looking to get your hands on Tamiyas new M18 Tank Killer 1/35 scale. Sherman metal tracks would be perfect , love 💕 your opinion of the kit which has been delayed in the States, though your Canadian, but which I'm picking up tomorrow here in Ireland .
Best as ever .
Edward.
Question for you Panzer , are all M4 metal Sherman 1/35 scale tracks standard for this kit , I was particularly interested in Masterclub as fruil metal tracks have got quite expensive.
Best Edward.
I think that the suspension came from their old M50 Israeli Sherman kit.
The original ancestor might have been the M4A3 76W HVSS from 1994. But this kit was released in 2005 before they made their better HVSS suspension (first one to use the better suspension was the Thunderbolt kit from 2006).

Dragon kits are mostly a mixed bag but this one is particularly bad. Still, nice build, hopefully it will look nice painted up. Thanks for the honest review. Btw, nice to see you branching out into some American armour.
Wow, congratulations! Your first sherman, but looks like it was a piece of $hit for you, even with upgrades, thanks for your review coz i'm not a sherman guy, im a panzer and a soviet tanker hehe
I've built a Sherman once before, and it was a much better kit than this one. Dragon M4A1 DV.
Looks like another money grab, kit bash kit by dragon. I would use it for a paint mule. Thanks for honesty.
I'm building a dragon m4 jumbo I feel your pain.. Only paid10 buck for The boggies has no pin marks ..you have to eyeball it. Hopefully I don't get crosseyes from it lol. Dragon are nice kits PS they have ..italarei spurs tree from m4 a1. Ehhh
I'm looking for Shermans as my next build and someone offer me this kit for a fairly good price but yeah thanks for the warn...I'll just stick with Tamiya.
Curious, did you contact Dragon?
Personally, I’m long done with Dragon for their lack of customer service.
I enjoyed the negative review. Dragon can’t produce junk when there are other fantastic companies out there.
Looking forward to your next video.
Thank you! No I didn't contact them...what would I say lol? I doubt they'd even care if they can put out kits like this and think it's a sound business decision.
This was a bashed-together job, using new and old stuff. Some of the stuff goes back to Italeri, which Dragon copied/licensed some of their oldest Sherman stuff from.
Agreed!
this no stug
i am disappoint
Paul Ainsworth give him time lol. He's young. Tbh this level if expertise at such a young age deserves some time. I find myself stuck into a lot of the german kits. We all gravitate to certain areas when starting. ;-)
THATS THE JOKE
Figured but wasn't entirely sure. Apologies. ;-)
No one is more disappoint in the lack of stugs than myself
He was my great grandpa
I wont its a sherman,by dragon. The 2017 Hummel with w\ketten is also an avoid, unless you want to pay £55 for a 2005 kit with 2005 colour photo instructions in black and white. Thanks for 'dog alert',scalemates can be too polite sometimes.
Great review, but don't sugar coat it. :-) That kit is absolute garbage. You made it farther along than I did on building it before I said "Screw it!", and bought the Tamiya WWII version off a friend. Much nicer build without all the headaches. Still though, I'm using some of the nicer 'accessories' (photo etch, brass shells, tow cable) on my Tamiya kit. I was going to use the individual track links until I saw how useless they were, and went with Fruil tracks. Really, who's the moron who thought it was a good idea to put ejector pins on both sides of the chevrons on the face of the tracks. Total bonehead idea. Again, great review. I look forward to more.
Nice review. I like build reviews which are more informative. They are more accurate than in the box review. In box review looks good but in reality builds like crap.
Yeah... this is why I stick to Asuka lol
Exactly.
Its definitely not an m4A3 that's for sure! It's an A2 HVSS it's not got the engine hatch bump stops and it has the rear oval pull up vents! It's a real Fury Sherman m4A2e8 box description is wrong ko m4a3s have that rear end upper deck it's the same hull as Zvezda new Soviet Sherman m4A2 and the rear smoke detector is an A3 part the kits one is the correct one for the m4A2 that's one way about near everyone can tell an A3 to an A2 is the engine hatch blocks that stick up to support them when open and never had the pull up vents behind rear lights the Russian m4A2 rear deck is what you have used honestly buddy
The name is Irzyk, not Drzyk.
Whoops. That boxart sure makes it look like a D though...

Panzermeister36 yeap, that font is not helping... :-)
StuG/Pz III/Pz IV > Sherman. See what happens? Stick to the good stuff! LOL.
I stopped buying Dragon kits because of their cheap ass policy of reusing sprues from earlier kits, or varients of the kit Im building. The fit issues that this creates just make for hard work and suck any fun or enjoyment out of the build for me. Combined with missing sprues (had a few of those) Dragon just doesn't seem to care anymore. Fine by me because I don't care about Dragon anymore.
Don’t put any money into better tracks! How about making the build into a ‘rusting hulk’? At least that way, maybe you’ll get some satisfaction from making a lousy kit look the part :)
Thanks for the review! Too bad it’s a turd.
What a mess...
Stop copying my videos.
Well maybe you should try copying my upload schedule ;)
sadface
Lol too many wheels? Metric system? Jajaja cry me a river
What, you prefer imperial? I didn't expect that give your name...
