If you forgot your screen lock combination follow these steps.
1.Power off your phone
2.Press together volume up + home button + power button
3.Release your fingers of the phone when Samsung logo appear
4.Choose with volume buttons "wipe data/factory reset" and select it with power button
5.Choose "yes" with volume buttons and select it with power button
6.Wait untiil format is complete
7.Select "reboot"
Warning! Do this at your own risk! All your phone data (contacts,photos,videos,music,messages,applications,games,files,) will be lost! Please make backup first if you can!

you are amazing. I was on the phone broken screen and could not debug the device was pin lock was a sign and I needed to erase or recover data from your phone. Watching your video on blindly walked in the settings and I did reset the phone. How do I know? I got the last 4.4.2 on my S3. Now I cannot use my phone with 3G since the modem is not compatible with my wireless network. Can I use this hard reset to erase everything and fix my phone?

In my case, (same samsung) this option fails, cause directly after the android-icon, the gsm resets again and keeps resetting. (even without sim and sd).
