Kuttanandan Punjayile - Angel City Chorale

ACC celebrates the diversity of voices and cultures represented in our membership! In this piece, we perform the traditional folk song “Kuttanadan Punjayile" in the language of Malayalam that is prevalent in the Kerala region of southern India. “Kuttanadan Punjayile" is typically sung during the annual boat race in Kerala, during the harvest season.
This modern arrangement highlights the traditional call and response style with additional lyrics in English where an emigrant reflects on memories of her homeland and desire to return to her birthplace.
