From Australia , Rory Gallagher is an absolute legend , he is much loved in Australia, very underrated and no he is not in the ridiculous RRHOF for some stupid reason , lucky to see him live here and in Europe , may he rest R.I.P. , if you want to see him play acoustic guitar( Out on the western plain) is a good start , when you get to Ireland there is an annual festival in Ballyshannon every June celebrating this great man . Peace from down under.

Legend, more talent in his little finger than anything you've ever heard on the radio, in the last 40 years.

Best guitarist ever. Great vocalist, multi instrumentalist,e dynamic frontman. Lucky enough to see him live twice in Australia - still rate as THE two best concerts I've ever been to.. So sadly missed - a huge loss .

Rory's stagecraft was freakin' amazing. And this was after the main show-this is one of the 3 encores for this performance. Rory's sets were frequently 2-3 hours. There's even the story of one performance where the power to the stage was cut in order to get him to come off. Nope. He just grabbed his acoustic and kept going. As he got older, he slowed down on stage, but his guitar skills just got better and better, more nuanced, a master at his craft. The 1992 audio of of his Temple Bar performance is probably one of the most amazing examples of this and we know that was professionally recorded on video. Hopefully this will be released at some time, but the audience audio on CZcams is great. Thanks again for bringin' Rory to more people. Also, if you can find it on FB, there is a video of Rory doing Bullfrog Blues in Paris that is equally hot-with the audience jumping on the stage and Rory climbing the speakers without missing a beat.

Saw Rory 3 times in the 70s, in Liverpool, London and Manchester, all of them fantastic concerts. In Manchester, the power went out, lights, everything so Rory did his accoustic set in complete darkness and complete silence from the audience with raptuous applause after every song, until the power came back on and then we were back to the loud wild stuff.

It was also amazing at one of the concerts to see him change a broken string and tune it whilst continuing the song without any interruption.

I saw the Rock Palast concert when the was living in Germany in 1977. The reason I “fell in love” with Rory. Saw him at the Sporthalle in Köln in 1979. Amazing. Lives in my memory always

Went to a Rush concert, Rory was the opening band, don't remember a lot about Rush that night, just Rory and that beat up Strat, wow, the very next day I went to the record store and bought "Jinx", great album!

I have seen Rory and his band play countless times. You can see why the audience did not want the show to ever end. This band played for up to 3 hours performing 2,3 and sometimes 4 encores.

Rory is revered in Ireland, Europe, Japan. I never hear his music on the radio in the US despite the fact that he toured in the states. He refused to release hit singles; he didn’t want to be pigeonholed as such. He only released albums. You see him here as a wild man on stage. By all accounts, he was the most gentile, polite, kind man who always gave time to his fans to talk with him. Every year, Ireland has a music festival dedicated to Rory. No, he is not in the RRHF. I wrote a letter to the organization to no avail. Needless to say, Rory is my favorite musician, and I’m an American.

famously Jimi Hendrix was once asked on a TV interview - "What's it feel like to be the greatest guitar player in the world?" - His response? "I don't know - you'ld have to ask Rory Gallager"

I saw Rory with Zappa and the following year with Nazareth at an open air concert in 1985 and 86 in Germany. I believe it was Lorelei.
      Rory was huge in Europe.

I think the reason Rory isn't better known worldwide is because he didn't want to be. The bigger you get the more the mainstream want you to change. Rush.......spirit of radio.
