I do think it’s important to keep in mind that the interview in which she said this was recorded several months ago in the fall. With Bob Iger saying that they pulled the plugs on some stuff just recently, there’s a very good chance that it could have been shelved since then.
Disney needs to stfu about Star Wars. Dont tell us what movie you’re working on, show us a trailer for it and announce a release date. Disney just SHUT UP, you’re the joke of the movie industry rn

I sure hope they have one soft core beach volleyball scene in it.
The botched sequel trilogy had the benefit of linking up with the Skywalker era so unsurprising they have box office clout. I don't have any hope that any new SW films will reach the same level. Rogue Squadron has real potential to be a Top Gun-in -space so I'm excited if they get the characters right.
No one is saying that she is a bad director she took wonder one to an incredible level but she did not write the first one. But she wrote the 2nd one and it show she can direct but she is not a writer her story telling is just not there

I have a feeling we'll get Carson Teva and Hera from the Disney+ series in this film.
The thing about a Rogue Squadron movie is that if it comes out, it will inevitably be compared to Top Gun : Maverick because they’re both about fighter planes. And considering Top Gun : Maverick was nominated for Best Picture, that’s a tough hill to climb.
Jenkins completing a script she is contractually obligated to deliver--that she had to stop working on because of the strike--does not equal actual resumed production. I think there is some severe overstatement occurring as a result of people not understanding how contracts work.
I thought the project was killed before the strike? Or put on hold? But I recall all this happening before the strike.
It makes me kind of happy for her ngl, would've sucked if she wasn't given any other work to do after WW84

I was so excited when I saw the announcement of Rogue Squadron, and absolutely gutted when we heard it wasn’t happening. I really want to make this happen. It could easily be better than Top Gun.
Well, I'll definitely take Patty over Sharmeen.
the rogue one scene was i think one of the best because it had shots that they had never done before like when they had the camera view from the top of the x-wing like a gopro when it came out of hyperspace.
Ace Combat meets Star Wars
I was hoping for this since the early 90s when I read the Rogue Squadron novels.
Jenkins is a good director, and I remember WW84 being not quite that bad, but im.an optimist, so cynical viewpoints never really impressed me much.
I have faith in Lucasfilm, I have faith in Jenkins, and I'm choosing to be hopeful in much the manner many soured fans choose to be .... less than hopeful.
If it succeeds, it succeeds, if it fails, it fails.
But as someone who's been through all the ups and downs from the early decades of this franchise long before the prequels and the Disney sale ... I remain optimistic.
The premise is so damn cool, I wanna see it.
I'll belive it when its actually in production. As with all Lucas Film projects.

this might come off wrong but i think a PJ film will have a Rogue Squadron story be about a female pilot facing adversity amongst her peers defying her superiors proving doubters wrong and saving the day, like a hundred other films...oh and w/ Gal Gadot as the lead

Not as exciting as it was back when announced. Give us new time frames, ships, stories and direction.
Patty Jenkins turning in a script draft does not mean the movie will be made as written or be offered to direct. With Disney’s financials and Iger trimming things down, this Rogue Squadron project may never be made or Disneyplused

I saw Dune 2 in 4DX..and it was so fun but I wouldn't like to watch something like John Wick .I would get sick
They should make a movie out of Claudia Gray‘s book Lost Stars.
Can see it becoming a Disney + series to continue on from Andor... They have other movies in development for cinema...
This and Andor season 2 are the ONLY Star Wars projects I'm excited about.

Maybe her star wars movie will release December 2026. Because Jon Favreau's star wars movie will release on May 2026 and the rise of Skywalker sequel movie will release on December 2025 and I really wish I was in that movie. I could be to son of Luke Skywalker. I also hope John Boyega's star wars character returns as a Jedi, Mark Hamill's character's force ghost, and pray both the Mandalorian season 4 and Jon Favreau's star wars movie will have lightsaber duels.

Am I the only one who thinks that a Rogue Squadron movie will be generic as hell and lame. Let me guess a ragtag group of pilots overcomes their differences and conducts a surgical strike on some Imperial super weapon? A cute droid and alien toy- I mean pilot? Bad guys with no depth beside EMPIRE EVIL? Good guys win after discovering some flaw in the enemies system that makes no logical sense?

I love Jenkins, but she co-wrote WW 1984. Bad, bad, bad. That worries me. Why doesn't Lucasfilm hire the writers from Rogue One and Jenkins can direct.

No, Patty Jenkins is NOT a good director. Man, you must be out your mind! Anybody can get lucky. And Wonder Woman was a stroke of luck that just happened to come around when we were already excited for the new DCEU. Am AVERAGE director would not have done the crap that WW84 did. That's not "a bad day in the office." There were two many things in that movie that literally made no sense. Directing is actually way out of her element, and she had some success only by circumstances beyond her and luck.

Top Gun Maverick part 2 will bury this project, it will be too similar, unless they can get it out before TGM2 I don't see it happening...
I also hated BOTH WW films not just 84, so I can't say I'm excited by Patty Jenkins writing and directing.

Andor is NOT the best thing made since the OT. "Rogue One" is a great Star Wars movie, Kenobi was awesome, and Mandalorian is great, too. I look forward to seeing Thrawn in season 2 of Asoka.

Patty Jenkins is overrated 💩
Wonder Woman 1984 was a disaster. I would love Garett Edward’s to direct this one. 3:13 yes I will cry about it. And Charlize Theron is noooo good. No good. Her movies flop. She’s a self admitted feminist and her acting… she’s just as much box office poison as Brie Larson.
ANDOR sucked. It was slow as hell and the lead actor is so bland. He was good in NARCOS, but this, nope. I dont get the love for this show.
