    Old school Primus fan here, people hardly knew who they were in the early 90s, this is favorite song from Tales from the punchbowl, i was 17 when this album came out ,waited so long in anticipation, walked to the mall in blazing summer heat to get it the day it came out, never regretted one bead of sweat i shed when i heard it! Seen them 6 times and cherished everyone, my favorite band and still listening! they've done the one thing any legendary band does and thats last the test of time.Good filming 👍

      I saw them at Lollapalooza in '93 (Pork Soda), and I'm hoping to see them again in August. Their 90s CDs were my go-to at the track.😂 They've always been fantastic, but I kinda fell off everything after then, all the sadness and tragedy. Getting back into the alt rock/grunge-era space, adding in newer stuff from AIC, Jerry Cantrell, Primus, and some of Les' other projects. I never got to upgrade most of my vinyl and cassette tapes to CDs, and I've bought precious little on digital. Gotta do something about that!

    lyrics:
    They headed southward from San Francisco
    To be with chuckles and the others
    With electric in the air and peroxide in their hair
    They looked like golden brothers
    They drove a Datsun, an automatic
    The radio blaring static
    He made a face into the light and burst out laughing at the sight
    The hysteria ensuing would dominate the night
    From all the candy, the seats were sticky
    As they were drawn into the grapevine
    Then "introduce yourself" came on as they barreled through the fog
    The demon puffing madly on a mentholated log
    They were tired, they were sleepy
    So they parked behind the Roxy
    Adam left to use the phone, so he sat there all alone
    When Adam's voice come beaming through on the radio
    He started laughing

    I got my 17-year-old son a basic guitar for Christmas and introduced him to Primus and told him to research the bass legend...
    Les Claypool... one of my most favorite bass guitarist of all time. he really appreciates the advanced bass player and recognizes the talent and is taking it up quite well.

      Connor Simpson makes sense considering when primus was at there prime they would have been around teenage, and girls actually make up the majority of alternative rock fans, so yeah a lot of primus audiences would be women who found them in there teens, (a crucial point in making music taste, and also a point when they’re starting to feel sexual desires and les was probably adored by them for that reason as well

    These guys are so good and the way I see it is that lucky for us Primus fans that Les was "too good" for Metallica because the whole world needed to hear (and see) the kind of music that this band plays. I think that the video to "My Name Is Mud" is so entertaining because of the faces that Les makes as Mud. nobody else could have done that better just like nobody could have played the part of "Tuco" in The Good, The Bad And The Ugly better than Eli Wallach.

    Who's that drummer? He's no Tim Alexander but he's doing the song and the band justice which is more than I can say about Brain. I still wish Tim had never left the band. He's clearly the best drummer Primus could ever ask for. No one could ever fit their music more perfectly

    • @kingeugene7975
      @kingeugene7975 Před 9 lety +6

      Tim is back, he had accompanied Primus on their 2014 tour with the fungi ensemble. It was beautiful. I really hope to see another tour this year with tim. That would be great, but no rush on the musical brilliance.

    • @Logan912
      @Logan912 Před 9 lety +5

      Hugo Stiglitz That's Jay Lane, as Sherri Lynn pointed out. He was Primus's drummer before Tim Alexander joined. Jay Lane had to leave Primus before they recorded any albums due to obligations with another band he was involved in.
      As for Brain, he's an excellent drummer in my opinion but not the best fit for Primus. His style is very similar to John Bonham. I'll admit that I love the Brown Album. It's not their best, but it has several of my favorite Primus songs.

    • @HugoStiglitz88
      @HugoStiglitz88 Před 9 lety +1

      Logan Palmer Yea Brain is an amazing drummer but he just didn't fit the band and he did kind of badly on Tim's songs IMO.
      As a drummer, I get annoyed by that sort of thing. You don't have to copy what the other drummer was doing stroke for stroke but at least learn the songs and get down the feel. Brain just didn't do that at all and I didn't like that

      Jay Lane also when playing with them in the mid to late 80's was jamming with them on many of the songs that came out on "Suck On This" While a lot of those songs were put into Frizzle Fry the rest were on used on different albums as well.
