      However, it is more functional to have fake tips over real tips as gaudy as they may look in your eyes. If you ever get get rear-ended by some idiot not paying attention to what he or she is doing and your car has a real exhaust all the way through, chances are greater that your exhaust system is going to be damaged and need to be totally replaced and that would be a more expensive repair cause the exhaust system would be ON TOP OF replacing the rear bumper. However, if your car got rear-ended and it had fake tips instead, The repair would be cheaper as you would only need a replacement bumper and that is really it. I mean, which would you rather have to replace? Both the exhaust and rear bumper and having to pay more for it? Or just the bumper and paying less? Mull that over in your head a bit and you would come to that realization that functionally fake tips are better than real tips.

    I'm used to collecting 1/24 car models.
    One of the model makers is Maisto and quite often they don't bother making taillights a separate plastic piece, just red paint on a metal body.
    However on red models they don't even bother to *APPLY* that paint, which results in taillights having the *EXACT SAME PAINT* as the body.

    on the topic of tail lights, I agree with you with red tail lights blending into red cars. I like both red and clear tail lights (prefer red a little more, but still like clear), But I think Red on Red is too much blending, and I also think clear lights on a white/light gray car is too much as well. Red on white/gray and white on red look great in my opinion. And as for the other colors, either tail light looks good, although i think red lights on a lighter color, and clear on a darker color looks the best.

    I also had the same red car gripe that you had. From games like Forza Horizon 3 to Lego City Undercover there were very few cars that I put red on because you couldn’t see the taillights.

    0:05 yes that comes with a weird silver rear spoiler *(all show and no go)* on that Proton Wira Special Edition (WiSE). It has about 88+- hp. The WiSE also came with bucket seats, a sports exhaust, a tuned suspension, a red speedometer, an aluminium gear knob, aluminium pedals, and 16-inch GTi-spec wheels.

    Honestly, I haven't ever imagined that the Gumpert Apollo is now considered a beautiful car, I mean, to me it's still just as ugly, it's function over form all the way, and way too static looking

    • @DjDolHaus86
      @DjDolHaus86 Před 2 lety +3

      Yeah it's still not a great looking car. It wasn't ugly because of the widebody look, it was ugly because it looked like a childs drawing of a racing car that crashed into an autoparts store.
      The whole widebody point didn't really make sense because there were tons of homologated race cars for the road with widebodies before the Gumpert (which is also a road legal race car) which are commonly viewed as attractive and/or design classics. Not to forget classic wide bodied sports cars such as the 911 turbo, 288 GTO, Countach and many others

    nice vid. really liked the tail light intel. A few things though: turn signals need to be orange in Europe, not yellow. And all lights must be separated from each other is the second reason. The second comment: LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Display. These lights you mentioned were LED's (Light emitting diodes) and existed way before the 80's and were used often in cars. Putting them in an HD screen came way later (2005-ish) and then replaced the LCD and TFT screens. But overall good info and informative vid

    I’d say for the red car and red tail lights thing it depends on the car. For example on older domestics the red tail lights (at least on my Charger, since it has a full wraparound rear bumper) the chrome breaks it up and plus the actual plastic housings around the lenses are painted black, so it still pops nicely even though the car is full solid bright red

    From a designers / standpoint I can understand the fake exhaust tips allow better flow of lines such as the RR’s and Lexus.
    It would be not only inconvenient in sense of production and cost to fab specific exhaust tips for every vehicle,
    But one of the most common accidents include rear fender benders and more often than not, the exposed exhaust will get damaged , vs an easily replaceable bumper / QP fender. The receded exhaust/ fake tips has grown on me in regards to functionality.

    Totaly with u on the Gumpert Apollo bro, as a top gear fan that was where I saw it first, but unlike Jeremy Clarckson I loved the car's looks. also, to this day I'm a bit disapointed with them cuz the model the took to the track was the mid range and not the one with more power; that damaged it's lap time and along that the apeal the car could have had for potencial buyers; plus, to this day, I still wonder if it wouldn't have been a lap record at the time...
