Thanks Carmina ! I have a smokey quarts crystal, prety much the size of half a handball. Some years ago I decided to use it as a basin for some flowers that had fallen off. I was quite suprised to find that the water was sieving through. Fun and interesting series !

@@CarminaAmza It is such a one where clusters of crystal are together as often is the case with amethyst; looks like a massive rough stone, hollow inside. It makes sense that though it looks like if they were
fused together, they are not so, intirely. Just a few cracks perhaps.
@@CarminaAmza I conducted a little test that shows that the outhermost thin layer is porrous and some "holes" between fused crystals admit the water through.
