    Introduction
Antoni Gaudí is internationally recognized as one of the most prodigious experts in building design. He almost single handedly landed Barcelona on the world map of architecture. Although he is considered a ground-breaking genius of modernism, his unique and personal touches defy classification. He used nature as inspiration and broke traditional rules of symmetry and straight lines.
    5. Palau Güell
After several smaller tasks, Eusebi Güell entrusted Gaudí in 1886 with building his new house, the Güell Palace in the old quarter. It is believed to be one of the first Art Nouveau-style buildings in the world. The home design marked the start of Antoni Gaudí's career as a prestigious architect. Today it is an UNESCO World Heritage Site and, at just 12 Euro, its entry fee is one the best values for witnessing Gaudi’s early magnificence.
    4. Parc Güell
In 1900, Gaudí was given the assignment of designing Park Güell, destined to be one of Barcelona’s greatest attractions. At the time, the city was a modern and cosmopolitan metropolis - and Güell wished for a park to match. Gaudí was at the forefront of the art nouveau movement and continually utilized natural occurring forms. He moved to the park in 1906 and the next year Güell did the same. Today the park is another UNESCO World Heritage Site and requires a mere 10 euro for entrance.
    3. Casa Batlló
Casa Batlló is a canvas of marine inspiration, creating a dream world that evokes both nature and fantasy. Built between 1904 to 1906, it is the only 100% modernist work by Gaudí. Its façade is a doorway to a symbolic universe filled with light and color. Its spectacular nature is sure to impress and one of the reasons it commands an elevated 29 euro fee for entry.
    2. Casa Milà
Casa Milà closes a stage in Gaudí’s career, marking the last collaboration with the local bourgeoisie. While Milà was the original name, Pedrera (or Quarry) has been used as a moniker due to the stone-like appearance. The site began in 1906 and was completed in four years, creating another example of modernism splashed with Catholic symbolism. Today it is visited annually by more than 1 million tourists - and there is a 25 euro charge for entry.
    1. La Sagrada Família
La Sagrada Família is currently the largest unfinished Catholic church in the world. The name means “sacred family”, an ode to the inner core that raised a savior. Gaudí took over Sagrada one year after its initiation back in 1883. He was just 31 years old. After years of split-attention, Gaudí abandoned all other works in 1912 to focus entirely on the church - a commitment he made until his death in 1926. The temple was his studio - a workplace within the most humble of neighborhoods. This profoundly Catholic man began his career as a designer for Barcelona’s high class - but ended up becoming an “architect of God”.
Today, La Sagrada Familia’s uniqueness remains unequaled - as it has been named the most famous building in the world, the most iconic building in the world, the most beautiful church in the world, and one of the buildings you need to visit before you die. Thank you for joining us on this trip through Barcelona and the world of Antoni Gaudi.
