thank you guys this is a great discussion ive had many times, dave isnt the best but he is my favorite..for his unique approach to the guitar his wicked chord variations and like you said his ability to create the rhythmic pieces and still sing kicks my ass every now and then, i know how to play almost all his songs, but i never get tired of them...i believe as much time he puts into his lyric writing he does with the guitar tabs
Wow, Thanks Best, just when I thought you had quit CZcams you go and give us this! This is nice. I remember seeing a few band photos taken during this gathering. I wonder what year this was. Guess all I have to do is find out when they laid down 'Bartender' in the studio, huh? Anyway, though I wish it was longer, I'm placing it in my Favorites. Thanks again.
I think the Stone is one of his hardest. But yeah, he is a master at rhythm and unique with his percussive strumming with how he mutes strings. He is the most influential on my writing of songs (Lennon being the second).
What about David Gilmour, Eric Clapton, Warren Haynes, and Trey Anastasio? I mean, he's a great rhythm guitar player, but he isn't a master of the instrument. I can play anything that Dave can play, and exactly how he plays it. A lot of his stuff is hard (the Stone, Captain, So Much To Say, Tripping Billies, Two Step, #34, Recently). but there are a lot better players. However, not as many that can write as good as he can on the guitar. His ability to write those rhythmic pieces is amazing.
This is AWESOME!! Can't wait for the new album to come out!!!
i feel like we can just all agree that dave matthews is amazing and the whole band is extremely musicaly gifted. thats all that matters.
thanks for the video, I love what the band says
