dave matthews met my kids during his band rehearsal in philly, when he was just becoming well-known, and he was so sweet and interested in them. he ended up dedicating a song to my 8 yr. old daughter during the concert.

Todd Rundgren has been eligible for nomination to the RRHOF since 1994 and first was nominated last year. DMB was nominated in his first year of eligibility. What's wrong with this picture?
i can sympathize with you on that. It's not Dave Matthews Band's fault though. Sure Todd should have already been in the HOF. DMB belongs there too.. Looking at the 2020 nominees I see artists who don't belong there because they were not Rock and Roll artists (Whitney Houston - I love her but she was not a rocker, Notorious BIG??)

DMB has sold over 100 million concert tickets and 91 million CDs and DVDs as of 2018. Dave and his band may not be in your wheelhouse but they deserve to be in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.
Also, if you've never heard them play their rendition of All Around The Watchtower or Two Step live it would be hard to deny that they do play a lot of Rock n Roll. The radio version of Crash Into Me barely scratches the surface of their repitoire (if that's your reasoning behind comparing them to Kenny G.) They also write and play all of their own music aside from the few covers they do play. I feel like your statement is a bit generalized.
