Being a retired geologist I started my career in 1980 as a "mud man" and then worked for a Diamond drill bit manufacturer in R&D of new synthetic diamond cutters as well as pressure coring equipment. I worked on wells from offshore Louisiana to Prudhoe Bay and in between. Probably one of the most mis-understood industries and processes on the planet. This was a great video! It should be seen by everyone.

I was a directional driller to i survived a colpase just 14 back ops later. It just has a little bend on the end so they keep in straight until they are ready and start turning it. Imagine sticking a wire stick into jelly and turn it does nothing take it out put a tiny little bend on the tip turn it you now have control you can only turn some much % per m so its not like a 90 degree turn its a nice sweep of a bend and if you wanna go straight againg you just turn the tip to its flat position

I just hope that your ram-sheers on the BOP are sufficient to cut through the connection pieces of the pipes as those are thicker and tougher, we all should remember Deep Water Horizon, this was why the BOPs ramsheer failed.
good video but I thought it could have gone a bit more at the end to explaining how it takes in the natural gas from that small tunnel the drill bits made all the way down there
How does the horizontal taps produce In the middle of horizontal pipe? With no inlets what difference would it make.... does the mile part going horizontal happen over time? Set it...extract for some time... then drill further?
depends upon the type of drilling method you apply. Ac drilling achieves approximately 150m while RC drilling can be upto 600m however the most expensive one is diamond drilling that can achieve maximum depths. Hope this was helpful
I am facing a problem while digging the well, I find depleted soil with small watercourses that prevent me from completing the drilling, knowing that I put cement and it did not work
You drill for direction the entire time after the curve.. up and down hitting the layer of shale. Then you line you frac ports up a cording to where the geologist found gas in the shaker samples (they take samples of cuttings from down hole all pumped back up through the over flow every 5-10 meters).. that's actually how it works.. as if we do one curve smoosh right into sweet crude straight line baby.. yeah right..

Hi can someone please advice a solution for the removal of borehole drill bits that have come off and are stuck in the borehole. I am travelling to Benin to try to remove 20 x 3m drill bits that have come off and are stuck upto 63m in the ground. The borehole was being made for the provision of water for local villagers. Many thanks in advance.
what gets into the ground when oil and gas are taken up? what material has the ability to stabilize the subsoil as good as oil and compressed gas nothing can replace Oil and Gas so subsoil worldwide is and will be unstable.

How do people get a hold of the money thats needed to get into oil & gas drilling, and how much will be needed?

hello sir, im budding geologist , tommorow i have interview in oil and gas sector now watching this . aspiring to be like you gaining experience .
Wow, I had no idea. This is wayyyyyyy more complex than I imagined. Good video. Thank you.
wow this is amazing! thank you!
I'm currently doing research on oil rigs and this is one of the best!
Great video very well explained

Someone available I need some info regarding drilling ?
Informative and good video. Anybody can understand it easily.
Very informative. A great video 👍
Wow what an animation .....each and everything crystal clear 🔥🔥
I swear this guy's the narrator for all these animation videos including the disaster ones.

It’s a robot text to speech voice lmao
At least this commercial didn't make me watch a commercial before I got to the.... commercial.

we also use dth hammer and drill bit for well drilling.

@MotoVation
Those operators knew that which led to a pissing match
Very informative. Thanks.
love the landscaped shrubs surrounding the well pad... lol.

This is great!
Good well drilling explanation
Perfect!!! I can know that how to work for the tricone drill bits.

What a great video and explanation ,Thx for that and Best Regards from Canada! 👍🥂💕✌
Wow. This is so interesting and unheard information.
Many thanks for this astounding explanation
wonderful and entertaining explanation

Soooo so glad we have Steve Bannon on our side. Thank God.
What program is used to do this video?

I have no interest in natural gas but this video was so interesting.

good work

Here in Fort Stockton, Texas we have one around 25,000 feet deep. Vertical well, not horizontal.
Very helpful, thank you!
Super super good welcome
great video
How can they change direction when drilling
I was laughing my 4$$ in online school, this video helped a lot, thanks!
I now know how to drill fuel
what software did you use to make this animations? Its really nice!
Did you find it?
i felt nostalgic when saw this cause used to work there for few years ten years back.
How was the experience? was it easy to handle?
So are they using flexible pipe or what? Lol that animation looks like a 90° angle! How is the drill gunna spin with stability like that
Jesus that must be tedious and hard to keep doing those steps over and over

It’s got me stuffed how they know what the hell is even going on down there without seeing a bloody thing ?
Fon Jet life is crazy
Fon Jet same it's amazing.
Measuring equipment that tells them inclination, azimuth, some info about formation type, etc. so every 90' they can adjust accordingly.
wasn't chesapeak a forest ?
I am watching this video from the rig lol.
Which rig are you working on?
How to summon democracy:
Why did the man fall down the well? Because he couldn’t see that well.
Nice video but How do they even drill so deep though? 12km is the deepest…
Was thinking the same thing. The drill bit is hooked up to a thick metal wire.
nice
how they know there are gas below the earth??
Interesting

When’s lunch?!
So natural gas is freely available
You just have to go get it
what is the cost of all the project
Yakov Adams Heres i believe its from 4 million to 5.5 million per well
Horizontal doing would collapse the land in the future

pressure diffrence
by the driven air force

Dumb question : will the earth crust eventually collapse due to over drilling.?? All that missing oil over time? Or oil is born naturally everyday. 😂
You wouldn’t notice it
